What's with people who can't handle an open PvP game resorting to personal insults all the time?
WOuld be very cool, would also take a lot of coding to make sure everything was working as intended such as procs (if there are any?) and whatnot. I think it'd be way better than chicken if they'd nerf ya down to the size of alevel 7 in T1.. 17 in T2... etc.
already been done....everquest 2...dunno about pvp but it seemed to work perfectly in groups...really dont think it would take a lot of coding just replace chicken with average stat players for that lvl and store diiferent low level values for the gear in the database

If you really, really are worried about getting your ToK unlocks and what not, they chicken system does not stop that. It has one purpose and does it superbly! Bottom line, there are people that want to gank lower lever players and now they can't. That's what the chicken system does plain and simple. Your other excuses just don't have legs to stand on.

oh /tear. let us try some reverse psychology now. it is what it is. unfortunately griefers far out number the later pve guy tring to for some reason do every quest in a tier instead of moving on for better quest, and better gear. you have the griefers in other games to blame for this rule not the other way around. you are beating a dead chicken here.

For one, I see your point, but to play devil's advocate: The difference is the higher level has a choice to enter the lower tiers...the low level player is there by default. By entering those lower tiers you are making the choice to become a chicken if you play this game. End of story. I don't care much for it when Im trying to do PVE stuff, but it beats getting smacked to peices at lower levels while im just trying to play the game. Kinda of like the lesser of two evils in my book.

Quite simple. As I said if this "helpless higher level" (as you paint them) really wants to get their ToK and PvE credit, then they should be a in a group of other non-chickens to do so....and if that's the case, they shouldn't be easily getting one shotted by anyone. If so, then like anyone else, they start from the nearest point/camp or get rez'd and continue on (since RvR doesn't have much of a death penalty). Of course, this is all based on the assumption that they are flagged RvR (open ruleset server) and can not help but have their chicken punishment always active. Otherwise, they can feel free to roam all over as long as they don't get RvR flagged. Again, the only thing this stops is higher levels trying to get into RvR areas (except with open ruleset where everywhere counts) and their only real purpose for being there would be to kill lower levels (please start naming all the many RvR area unlocks if I am mistaken....so far, I have seen few if any that require you to be in a specific RvR area to gain). As a side benefit, it also slows down those that are just power leveling and then expect to come back later if they miss something....again, something I don't mind Mythic doing.
We had a lvl 12 WP hanging out for a PQ and he had not turned into a chicken. It was the PQ up the road to the chaos zone from the empire zone in.

The chicken rule is fine. It will have minimal impact on Core servers and basically just prevent griefing there. On Open servers it will have a greater impact but presumably the Open people have more or less announced that PvE isn't their prioirty anyway. I think Open people grumbling about it are really gankers using the PvE excuse as a ruse.

I like the chicken idea
PvP should bea competion between 2 players where the best one win, not because 1 is higher level so the other can't win.
The murder system works too but the chicken is funnier and more in line with the black humor in the Warhammer universe.
I really like the chicken idea. I remember in wow lvl 70s mercilessly killing my lvl 20. It made the game alot less fun.
