Correct - my response is that your PC is NOT CAPABLE. there are no waiting times in eve if you are experienceing these your system is either not configured properly or you don't know what a 'capable gameing' system means. I'm sorry but your wrong. I am a Veteren of Eve and I know what I'm talking about. The longest I have to wait in Eve (when it's not a function of game design) is a less than a second!, for anything, and I do not have a top of the range system. I am an experienced PC builder and user but I think that is irrelevant in this case as Eve requires little in the way of tweaks to gain this performance.
My point is that just because there isn't technically a loading screen doesn't mean the game has no loading times. On my PC it would take around 3-5 seconds between unloading one system and loading the next, not counting the game-designed delays which would up that number even further.
Saying that there are no loading screens in EVE is really misleading, even if it's technically true, because there are breaks between every system that are functionally identical to watching a progress bar. I would expect a game without loading screens to have smooth transitions between zones, or a seamless world where you can transverse one side to the other without having to stop. Not the case in EVE.
That's like saying there is one there but there isn't.
That break you are refering to is you being moved to a different system and the entities being loaded up. And there is no way you can concievably have seamless transitions in EvE as you are traveling between 2 gates as a stream of energy ready to be re-assembled at the Exit gate.
Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981
That's like saying there is one there but there isn't.
There might as well be loading screens because of the amount of time you're waiting for loads and session changes. I'm not saying it makes EVE a bad game. I'm just saying that watching a game interface load is not really any different from having to stare at a progress bar.
Themepark games are what big companies are focusing on, easy to code, easy to control and easy to sell. And they all suck. For a real MMORPG, start looking for independent developers. That's where it's at.
i love theory but fact is if i have prob graphicly to run this game right now what will happen when 48 other lunatic are trying the siege thing .my right is about what everyone as and its not enough to play it.
this game is design for computer either 3 year from now or they need quad core from intel but since they dont say it its hard to know
but the way it stands right now unless they put function like ultra-low and extremely low graphic quality most player wont see past the lag kill effect is nice but at full speed gameplay this game mighrt lag a little too mutch for most player taste but we ll see
1) Skill, not level based. Stop limiting yourself! We, in Real Life, do NOT have levels and can change what we do when we want to.
One can only dream I guess.
Stop RIGHT THERE. What has real life to do with GAMES. We, in REAL LIFE, do not have elves, fireballs, dungeons, bosses, light sabers and 99% of the stuff in a game.
I need to go to bathroom from time to time to, do you want that in a game too?

Oh, while we're on the Topic of Eve's immersion, yes they do a good job of masking their zoning and masking their instancing (dead-space). I think all those dead-space missions are, in fact, instances.
Luckily, i don't need you to like me to enjoy video games. -nariusseldon. In F2P I think it's more a case of the game's trying to play the player's. -laserit

Just about everything in fact. It's real life that makes you "believe" in a game. If you can't believe in it, it just isn't fun.
lol this game a success? Judging on initial sales yes. But Funcom earned it through tight NDA and the open beta 13levels cap. Not because the game is truly good. Many bought the game because of the hype and promised features, only to realise everything is either not in the game or broken. Lets see if AoC is truly a success after the free 30days are up.
I agree.I think you wil see a suprising drop in subscriptions after 30 days( I am one of those) and more after 60.I think there is way to much beta time ahead for AOC.Other challengers loom just over the horizon.

Not from what I know from friends who have played EVE longer than me. It's a common problem that when someone gets a dead space mission often some jerks will stalk them to just go in and steal from NPC wrecks. So, if they're instanced they're not tied to any one player.
