It takes frickin 10 minutes to go to another faction's starting zone, ffs, I saw night elves and dwarves in Stormwind and Elwynn ALL THE TIME. And if it's REALLY that bad we'll have temporary Warrior Priest Tanks. Meh, bring it on! But don't you think Mythic THOUGHT about all this when they made the decision? Honestly if any company was stupid enough to do something like this and NOT have a backup plan, they don't deserve a good game. They're taking lower level content focus off of needing a tank so Empire won't be screwed when they try PQs with no Knight.
As for beta, pre-orders, ect., alot of people have gotten their codes. Sometimes it takes a few days but sometimes right on the same day. And it lets you get in the Open Beta - we're still in Closed here. Though with Guild Beta now started they'll need about 10x more people so I think alot more will be getting in.
Classes are on "hold", right, probably to be replaced with another class or redone to improve their mechanics. Cities, hopefully, will be put in game within a few months but I hear they're going to focus on two at a time...which is interesting. That should only apply if this system indeed works better, because if it doesn't, they need to be prepared to go with their original plan.
Things still change, this isn't release and we still have 3 or so months to go. Don't say it's a meltdown yet...
-------------------------------------- A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"
Question: This inevitably raises the question of class balance. Do you feel that the loss of these classes deals a serious blow to the balance of the game?
Quote:
Answer: No. Jeff and I had yet again another conversation about this subject this morning and the team doesn't think so. Just in case, I've asked them to have a backup plan to their backup plan. As to what we must do, I'll be happy to talk about if we need to do that. We won't release an unbalanced game.
Question: Are the cities going to actually be better? And how does making the cuts make it easier to balance careers?
Quote:
1) The cities are better than they would have been if we didn't make this change. They have so much more cool stuff in them and they really are something quite special.
2) The classes we removed weren't cutting it. By removing classes that wouldn't have worked well at launch we will have fewer problems and issues to deal with after we launch. That will make for a better experience for the player.
3) If the way the realms are set up now do not work in this next stage of beta, we will find a way to make them work by either working with the existing classes or delaying the game again until we find a way to make it work with new or modified classes.
4) I've always said that this game will ship when it's great, I've never said it will only ship if it has 24 classes, 6 cities, 5210 quests, etc. Nothing has changed about that. If the game is great and ready to be launched, it will be launched. If it isn't, it will be held back.
5) As to WAR still being great for PvP players, I hope that what we've done will make it better for PvP players, not worse. A PvP player wants to, of course, PvP. If the fronts were too spread out, the city sieges too long in between occurrences, etc. PvP players would be the most disappointed. Frankly, I think these changes will make the RvR action in WAR more intense and city sieges happen more often. If we're wrong, we'll fix it before we launch.
6) We are in the process of opening new servers and letting in tens of thousands of people in this next stage of beta. If we didn't have faith in the game, that is the last thing we would do. It's because we have this faith, buoyed by the feedback we've been getting in beta so far, that I know WAR will be a great game when it's done.
As always, wait to see what happens and draw your own conclusions from what you see.
The devs have already thought all of this out.
This announcement isn't the end of the world, and in the long run, you will see how it helped Warhammer versus harmed it.

the main thing i hate about this , everyone who is screaming omg the world is falling always seems to think your race can only fight another race, and that the capital means all the content isnt finnished when actually the capital is the end content in that area, but you still have tier 4 .
Remember before posting
CAPITALS are the end game, thats the end of the game is the seiging, so what you are missing is the variety of diff areas, BUT the cities will be better. If you think about it as long as the first two work out well it will prob work better in the longer run for mythic for you will be "man im tired of chaos vs empire" *ding patch* " ALRIGHT ORCS AND DWARFS" so it will feel new, because only beta testers have had played the game so it will feel new even if it was suppose to be in the game it is still new to YOU.
As for the classes, well that one just sucks, but as far as balance its not a issue. you are on your side, its not your race that matters its your side.
As long as the mechanics are in and the 2 capitals work, it will work in your favor.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guys! I'm hopelessly lost in a mountain of mole hills! Them damn moles!
I think it will end up being fine. One reason they said the 4 classes were cut is because they played too much like other classes and they want distinction between them. I am sure we will either a few of them back or completely new ones. The capitals will be in later which is no biggie. You have to think in other games like WOW later on when your maxed lvl and your a Night Elf do you really hang in Darnassus? No because it sucks you go to IF or SW because they are more populated. I actually thing 2 capitals would even be fine later on because 4 to me seems like alot and before the news I swear I read or something that they were cut. I had not seen any pics of them so that maybe why.
And I mean like an above poster said the dungeon stuff in the capitals or whatever is end game so I think by he time we really flesh out and get to capturing the big cities they could by then have another one ready to go you know? The first ones will function just like the first ones but will have more quests and such for all the races.
Only twenty classes! Only two capitols to siege, which will take a month or two before players are strong enough to even try to siege them! OH NOES, MELTDOWN!
Nah, the only thing headed for meltdown are the idiot doom and gloom protestors who like to cry about the sky falling anytime something does not fit their personal agenda. I am quite happy to have them in meltdown though. Perhaps it will be severe enough they will be locked away in private facilities that cater to their more... special needs, and leave the game to those who will enjoy it.
Hmmm sounds just like the fanbois for D&L, vangurad, AOC. ect. ect.
No matter how often this happens people continue to ignore the same signs over, and over again.
I have never seen a game announce so many cuts all at once. AOC announced it was cutting classes, and COX cut some content right before release but never this much.
Now let me put it in perspective for people who say that the cities are "end game."
While I agree that sieging a city IS endgame, a character can and often does use it's capitol city from VERY VERY early on. It is a mystery to me what these now secondary races will quest back and forth to the remaining major cities.
The bottom line is that many of these reductions are not a terribly huge deal, BUT they are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what mythic has had to compromise on. If people say that this reduction makes the game BETTER or that it means nothing, cannot see what other companies have done to their customers after making cuts like this, this close to launch.

cause wow cut alot of things they where developing and is now going into the 2nd xpac but its a fail of a game right?
said chaos not destruction. Now no one will want to be empire, since they have no tank. Chaos is the ONLY faction with a TANK and a CITY. As if people needed a bigger reason to play chaos. They already looked the coolest, and had some of the best classes! "The classes were removed to provide balance, and better game play!" The statement above shows how absurd content removal is better... It would be like saying that McDonalds removed some menu items to make your meal better... I don't see how that makes sense. I don't see how not having a tank in your faction is at all a good idea. This is clearly not a decision they wanted to make, and I think it is showing a major chink in their armor.
Obviously you haven't ever watched chef Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. He goes into a restaurant that is about to fail and one of the FIRST things he does is cut the menu down. A lot of these restaurants have dozens of entrees, appetizers and the like with none of it coming out of the kitchen perfect. By cutting it down to 4 or 5 entrees these restaurants suddenly become profitable and the diners are actually happy that they get good food. PS. McDonalds, Burger King etc all cut items off their menu regularly.
The only thing with a meltdown in progress is the OP.
Go outside and eat some happy waffles Smitty, if you would have read the explaination Mark Jacobs gave on VN you would understand the reasons for the postponement of the four cities and classes.
If you truly wana judge a game than pls wait at least till its release. If you dont wana dive into it upon release than wait for our report, we will tell whats the true state of the game upon release and give an update when we reach level cap and end-game.

Although I was planning on playing a Choppa, I feel that Mythic is right in choosing quality over quantity, and ensuring that whatever is included for release is polished and finished. I also applaud their honesty in announcing this so far ahead of release. If you don't like it, cancel you CE.
Having recently bought (and cancelled my sub to) AoC, I am happy to see that Mythic seems to have a completely different approach. AoC decided to include EVERYTHING, wether it worked, was finished, tested or not, and put out a game that I couldn't bear to log in to. I would rather have a smaller game that is polished and fun, than a bigger game that is buggy, boring and broken.

Care to explain this statement? What do you think you know? What exactly has Mythic had to compromise on? Tip of what imaginary iceberg? Expresso gave me a Hearthstone beta key.....I'm so happy
I would much rather wait another six months for release and have everything make the final cut. Scrapping things this far along makes it sound like they are hurrying, which doesn't bode well. Of course, I am not the one on the hook for the development costs either.
The company cuts content to the bone, AND changes it's name and structure 4 Classes are going on "hold" indefinately, which if that is anything like a beta invite, it could be years. Capitol cities are cut... Balance is out the window.... now no one will want to be any race but chaos, since they get a capitol city AND all of their classes Promises of beta contests and giveaways have all been BS, with no winners named or end in sight. Pre-orders nation-wide are being mis-handled and people are not getting their codes, and never will due to misunderstandings with the distributors. Is this game in a complete meltdown? I really don't know how they will release a balanced and functional game with so many necessary classes missing. Ebay is selling preorders for a ton from people who were scammed by bestbuy or gamestop... all of this slop makes me think the launch will be a disaster!! Reminds me of Vanguard.
So basically you don't plan to play WAR and you want other people to agree with you so that you feel you are making a good choice? That is basically what you are looking for isnt it?
