This has already been adressed about 80 times in the last three days on these boards. Though, I'll humor you. Yes the game will be a total failure. God help us in the pain and suffering we will be forced to engage in. Save us...oh God...save us.
Now on to the next game. I'm excited to read the over pasted plethera of posts thrown at us about the next big disappointment in the world of virtual roleplaying.
No its not going to be a meltdown. But I am not going to buy it until after its been out for two months so I don't have to deal with initial launch bs.
No its not going to be a meltdown. But I am not going to buy it until after its been out for two months so I don't have to deal with initial launch bs.
I do agree that some people who want a game with no problems should not buy it till a month or so but the cut out really isn't so bad. What would you rather deal with. A broken game? A unfinished game? Or a delayed game? I for one would definately not want a broken game. Delayed is okay for me. But I'd rather have a unfinished game if the devs will work hard to fix it. The Warhammer series has a good history Mythic just won't let it die so soon, or at all really.
I would much rather wait another six months for release and have everything make the final cut. Scrapping things this far along makes it sound like they are hurrying, which doesn't bode well. Of course, I am not the one on the hook for the development costs either.
I got it!
Why dont you just wait until next year ... you know their going to add the content ... you dont even have to play on the release date...
Just think of it as the "Finished" version of the game
While I play the "missing content" version this fall
I think it is better that they have decided to tell us about the missing content, as per at least we know what to expect at release from them.
And they also stated that in future that missing content "could" and i do repeat "could" become part of a patch or expansion. If they find a way to make it work as intended.
So really, they are smart and don't lie to us when it comes to there game. I don't see why people complains, they are doing the opposite of what funcom and other's have done in the past. " They dont lie "
ZOMG! Someone does not agree that the game is headed for meltdown and has an opinion of his own. MUST be a fanboi. Whatever. Move along kiddo. If the game does not have what you look for in a game, don't play it. Those with other opinions may enjoy what the game has to offer. It takes a real asshat to not understand personal opinion and jump on the "ZOMG FANBOI" train when someone states their own opinion.
it cracks me up that you just did it again. did you even read what i posted? i disagreed with both of you. try again smarty.
Yes I read what you said. You evidently failed to read what I posted however. You insinuate that I am a fanboi because I make mockery of those who see some changes and cry "the sky is falling" or think it is the end of the world. I think every MMO is better off without them (As I have stated the same about many MMO's when people post similar) and you chime in and call me a fanboi because I call idiocy for what it is? I have not stated the game is perfect, or done anything indicative of a fanboi. Merely laughed at those who cry foul anytime something does not fit their agenda (As stated) Perhaps rather than be so fast to call people fanbois, you shoudl read posts for what they are. Does WAR have problems, absolutely! It is not a game for everyone, and will not launch [erfectly. Are the recent announcements the end of the world and a sign of the end of MMO's to come? No. And those who continue to post threads like this coz they need attention are good for nothing aside from laughing at and being mocked... which I did. That makes me a fanboi? I think not. It would take a real idiot to think such a thing. Thanks for your time and "deep" commentary on something you obviously failed to understand. Next?
Warhammer still has what many people like. I myself believe it was necessary to cut the cities and classes to overall better the game. They didn't want to delay the game again and with all the bad news that came out on that day...there was some good news people didn't see.
1.) They teamed up with Punkbuster to keep the game safe from hackers/cheaters.
2.) The Guild Beta came with Realm Wars.
3.) Not really good or bad but EA Mythic is going back to Mythic Entertainment.
4.) This news is every single day because many who played DAoC loved it and were not disappointed and those at Beta are giving good reviews about the game.
WAR will finish the other cities of course and the classes and through all this chaos...I see a bright side.
We will have multiple things in this game at launch which will keep casuals and hardcore players busy long enought to finish the capital cities and classes. Everythings Cool.
Purpose in life is not to gain things, but experience. - Rover64dd
1. Capitals are end game content. They are not trade centers, they are not meeting zones. They are the capitals, in fact, if you look at the progression maps, you can't even GET to them till 30-40. Did wow release with 6 raids? did VG, what mmo did? WAR is still a mmo you can't take exception
2. Heres the situation regarding classes. Heres your options.
a. Delay the game for 4 classes to be remade/redesigned.
b. Release the game with the classes, nerf/buff/redesign the classes, and basically piss off everyone who made them.
c. Release the game with the classes, and then delete the classes for replacement ones, and change everyone who made one into it.
d. Release game and add the classes once they are fun/playable
I don't know about you guys but these options scream D to me.
but otherwise
20 classes
27 zones
2 end game raids
12 scenarios(battlegrounds)
Removing 4 end game raids, and 4 classes aren't the majority or even 10% of the content.
To the bone? are you kidding me? 20 classes is not " to the bone". The two cities that are there are so massive, you could put each key city in WoW in one, and it still wouldnt match the comparitive size and content.
People need to quit being such drama queens and find a hobby.
I'm just going to copy paste what I wrote in the other thread...
Why the fuck are we still fighting about this shit. The NDA has not been dropped, we're not in open beta, guild beta has -just- started, and we don't even have a launch date. How 'bout we all calm the fuck down, pull up our skirts, and wait until we've actually played the game!
I think it's time I take a break from these forums. People are so damn negative about everything. We are getting a 90% complete world (40 areas out of 44 are complete) with 20 possible careers. We have endgame content (which is more than AoC can say). We have a very long list of things to keep us busy. ToK, PQs, Quests, Dungeons, Senarios, Keep seiges, RvR areas, two cites to attack and defend, crafting, etc etc etc. The list goes on. Hell...if you complete everything on that list...you could Role-play to pass the time, but I'm absolutely 100% positive you will have more content by that time. This game has -far- more fun stuff to do than WoW and very, very little of it is grinding. I don't know about you, but I'm still extremely excited for this game. Sure, all companies have certain things they hide from their customer. Frankly...some of the stuff that goes on, I don't want to know about! If you honestly are not conent with that sort of game at launch you will be disappointed with...every...single...MMO...there...ever...will...be. MMOs are constantly changing.
I promise you all that the sky is not falling. Mythic is doing as much as possible to keep us updated. Would Blizz or Funcom or [insert name of large MMO company] have told you about this stuff 2-4 months in advance? Don't kid yourself. This is the first MMO company I've see that actually gives a shit about their community. Every other MMO is depending on the success of WAR. If it fails...the rest of the gaming community will be very disappointed. Mythic is raising the bar...and that only means good things for every game out there.

Pre-orders not getting codes? I just ordered mine today and the code is instant, well that is off Amazon.com anyway. If you choose to go about pre-ordering CE from someone else that's on you, but my advice is you go with with a name you can trust like Amazon on something like that. Like I said if you made that mistake, that's on you.
Cut content would of bothered me if it wasn't for the fact that I read the article and understand it. I understand why content was cut, and I'm sure that content will be added regularly making this issue very petty. As far as everyone being Chaos, well they were clearly the most popular from the beginning and probably always will be. But you can count on Mythic balancing everything out. So I wouldn't be afraid to roll Order, in fact, I am going to be Order for sure. I like the challenge.
OP, your points are not insightful by any means and I guess you do a fine job at generating conversation, but you certainly have not looked into such issues very far whatsoever. Like I said, the poll speaks for itself doesn't it?
I would much rather wait another six months for release and have everything make the final cut. Scrapping things this far along makes it sound like they are hurrying, which doesn't bode well. Of course, I am not the one on the hook for the development costs either.

If you dont want to play with only 2 cities and 20 classes.. then don't ..and wait.
said chaos not destruction. Now no one will want to be empire, since they have no tank. Chaos is the ONLY faction with a TANK and a CITY. As if people needed a bigger reason to play chaos. They already looked the coolest, and had some of the best classes! "The classes were removed to provide balance, and better game play!" The statement above shows how absurd content removal is better... It would be like saying that McDonalds removed some menu items to make your meal better... I don't see how that makes sense. I don't see how not having a tank in your faction is at all a good idea. This is clearly not a decision they wanted to make, and I think it is showing a major chink in their armor.
Heres something to wrap your mind around. When you remove someones tonsils, or appendix, do they die?
trollers and flamers aside, I think there is some valid concern.
Prior to the announcement, I think the poll would have been 90/10% but now it's 70/30% which means 20% of people believe that trouble is brewing that didn't prior to the announcment of the cuts.
If you take into account that the forums are heavilly trolled, and they would have voted against the topic of the post no matter what, I bet the actual gaming community is closer to 50%, and that is a considerable number.
If you need proof of beta-tester woes such as this coupled with fanboi flaming, just reference AOC prior to launch. They cut classes, and the game came out pretty rough around the edges.
Fact is, if they can't get their core systems (ie classes) together, what makes you think that this game won't be buggy and unpolished... what makes you think that there will be any end-game?
If you want a game rushed out with vague and cryptic comments from the devs but delivered at the time the owners said it would regardless of consequences play AoC. I am. Of course some people are concerned. One in 6 classes (or roughly 20%) were cut. So those 20% of people are obviously going to be annoyed.
On the flip side - out of 24 classes they have said they are happy with 20, the 4 they arent happy with are being pulled. I am comfortable with their answer. I would rather see the 10% of content pulled and the game released this year, than have the game delayed.
The game has already been delayed twice to improve it rather than rushing it out the door, they have said they are prepared to delay again. Once the NDA is lifted we will hear from people in the beta how they feel.
But compared to other games that were released early when beta testers were telling them to hold it back and fix stuff - War appears to be on the right track.
But if you are concerned - what do you suggest doing about it - other than talking about it. Its not like the cuts were announced and the game is out tomorrow, its still in beta - and assuming they launch in November they have another 3 to 4 months to work on it.

Soon enough the NDA will be lifted and we will have info straight from the testers. At this point all we have is the word of Mythic. Considering they have been very upfront regarding information good or bad, I'm inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt.
There's a difference between AoC cutting classes and WAR cutting classes. In AoC the classes were merged together, in WAR they were cut for lack of polish. I don't get the logic that by cutting out incomplete, unpolished classes that somehow the game would be unpolished. They are cutting out elements of the game that would be buggy or unpolished so the final product would be as perfect as can be. The outcome would be the exact opposite of your conclusion.
Funcom chose to mislead players by claiming things were in the game that weren't or that were horribly broken. Yes - they got a lot of initial sales but will lose people in the long run due to not living up to the hype. Mythic might lose people now who aren't going to be content with the game as it will be, but the players who do choose to purchase will get exactly what they expect.
There still is an end-game. But...if you had brought up end-game PvE content then you might have a point. Not much info released on that front. But I don't suspect they are hiding much. Emphasizing PvE end-game content does nothing to distinguish them from every other MMO and does not release the kind of info that the core customer base for this game really cares about. Granted...there is the posibility it's being left out because it's not complete or lackluster. I just tend to doubt that's the case (based purely on opinion).
As for the lack of a particular role (tank and dps melee) for a given race. This will effect hardcore roleplayers who wanted purely racial guilds. With all due respect to the roleplayers out there, I don't think you make up enough of the playerbase for this to be an issue for anyone other than yourselves. A savy tank or melee dps character will go to the racial zones of the races that lack that class and will find themselves groups with ease. I'm not trying to paint this as an overall good thing for the players as a whole, but it certainly will provide a great opportunity for those classes to exploit.
In the end, if the game is buggy and unpolished we will know long before it's time to purchase a box. And all those people who pre-ordered will still have time to cancel their orders. Also, if Mythic decides to back off on their plan of lifting the NDA before launch then I think that's a sure sign that a wise course of action would be postponing purchasing Warhammer.
Is this game in a complete meltdown? I really don't know how they will release a balanced and functional game with so many necessary classes missing. Ebay is selling preorders for a ton from people who were scammed by bestbuy or gamestop... all of this slop makes me think the launch will be a disaster!! Reminds me of Vanguard.
Sounds to me alot like the AoC pre-launch...maybe FC did start a trend...=P Best to wait till the OB or actual release before gettin your hopes up.
But on the good side...least they tell the people what is going on, when stuff gets cut n will not be in game. Funcom didn't feel the need to tell their players they weren't bothering puttin stuff in the game till later.
I've thought from the very beginning that this game will make wow's alliance/horde imbalance look like nothing. Now chaos is even more attractive? My god. It's not so much that I'm worried about numbers imbalance, it's that chaos like horde will have the best pvpers most games.
Yeah, I wouldn't be suprised if Mythic is no more by this winter. Crappy release and total dominance of wrath... done for. The whole premise of this game was to take a piece of wow's pie so EA can feel good about themselves, not to give us anything new. You can't build success on that kind of model.
