McCain taps a young (attractive) woman to be his VP running mate

ZindaihasZindaihas Member UncommonPosts: 3,662

Her name is Sarah Palin and she is the governor of Alaska.

Look at her

Alright.  Now, all of a sudden, I find myself interested in this year's presidential election.  What an interesting mix of candidates we have now.  It will be interesting to see Biden chooses to attack her in the VP debates.

Smart choice I think. She's younger than Obama and a mother of 5. She also calls herself a maverick like McCain. It seems McCain has been pushing hard for the disaffected Hillary voters so this makes sense. Also good timing on the leak.

I'm really interested to see McCain's acceptance speech at the convention. If its as good as Obama's, which I kind of doubt, it might force more debates, where I think Obama would lose.

oh my gosh. That's the smartest damn move in Politics I have seen since Reagon ran for office (well...since my mom told me lol...i was only 6 when Reagon got in).

Damn McCain, that was one helluva chess move. Woman, Governor (bout time...God I hated all these senators running. Governors has a helluva lot more hands on experience than Senators), mother of 5 and young.

Heh, good move McCain. Im impressed. Didn't think he had it in him. Even CNN is calling it a stroke of genius. When CNN calls any republican move a stroke of genius then there's something going on.

I think she is an excellent choice - pro-guns, pro-life, very family oriented and an overall conservative. She makes a great case to drill in Alaska to which even the demos would buy.

McCain just secured tons of Hilary supporters by this move.

I agree that it was a smart political move, but I question the attractive part.

So wait, McCain slams Obama almost daily on his inexperience then picks a running mate with even less time that Obama?

Intersting choice and a historical election either way it goes,  but the pandering by McCain on this pick is pretty obvious.

I have to agree with you, Enigma, about all these Senators running.  We have not elected a Senator since JFK, I think, and that SHOWS the American people are smart.

Look at Biden's record: ANTI-PRIVACY.  29 years.  Career politician.  Look, I like him personall.  Politically, he is a career politician.

Obama is still better than McCain, regardless of the VPs.

I think people are going to see right through this.  McCain is only doing this to try to pick up hillary supporters.

And SHE MADE TIME to visit wounded troops in Germany while obama didn't.

All the talking heads said Romney was the smart pick so, how is McCain pandering? No one had a clue who he was going to pick.

Wow, I haven't seen Wayne in over a decade. Who would have thought he'd become a Fox News political correspondent?

So she's been the governor of Alaska for the last 2 years, eh? Oh, she was also a mayor before that, hmmm. I hear she made some real policy changes as a maverick in that state. I wonder if she'll check back in to see how they turned out.

Who am I kidding. She'll be back in a couple of months with plenty of time on her hands to go moose hunting.

  • fulmanfufulmanfu Member Posts: 1,523

she didn't exactly come out of the blue, shes been mentioned as peoples runningmates as far back as when rudy was still the 'frontrunner'.

very good move, if mccain gets another average old white guy he could have blown it, but not a chance now. shes engaging, smart, and while i wouldn't call her hot, decent enough and young enough to steal some of obamas only strong suit, celebrity.

Very calculated move.  I'm interested to see what comes from both VP picks.

What the hell are you talking about....

None of these people have any white house experience, i dont know why you <Mod edit> think this is a valid reason for someone to be excluded from office.

Bush has taken the greatest country in the world and run it into the ground and McCain proudly supports him.
And please, list his terrorist associatations.
And list Mccains excutive experience while your at it.
