However, I do have issues with her character and her ability to lead. Any candids of her make her appear to be shy, un-sure, and a little over her head. Again, nothing to do with experience, more to do with the way she carries herself on such a large stage and in such important matters. I also take strong issue with her stance on abortion. Normally the issue doesn't mean much to me, and if she was pro-choice or very anti-choice I wouldn't think twice about the issue. What I don't approve of is the fact that she is so anti-choice she would do anything in her power to make abortions illegal(on a federal level) even in the cases of rape or incest. This isn't smear or Rhetoric coming from the left, this is her proud stance. She'll repeat this over and over. She'll say the woman or the 15 year old girl doesn't have to keep the child her father forced on her when he raped her, but she has to carry it for 9 months. She has to go to school every day and face her fellow students every day for 9 months. She has to go through major emotional or physical changes every day for 9 months because it is the law. Yes this is an extreme scenario. Yes it only happens probably a dozen times a year in this country(reported at least). But when this lady won't even skip a beat in saying "No excuses, its the rule of my God!" she doesn't deserve to be Governor let alone Vice President or god Forbid President.
    Abortion is at the very bottom of the important issues for me. But this is more about this woman's character than about her religious beliefs or her stance on the issues. I am positive that even if she found herself somehow as president, and even if she was able to put two or three Supreme Court Judges on the bench during this time: the congress, the people, and even the now-stacked Supreme Court would never let it go this far. So I don't fear her stance on the issues, I just have any confidence or respect for her as a person.

    I understand your position on Abortion but see it from the otherside's perspective.  You have a strong faith and belief that life begins at conception.  That means you value that unborn child equal to a little toddler, teenager, or adult.  How could you make any decision but that any abortion is wrong?

    See that is why she is so anti-abortion.  That is fine too.  Just because you or I might feel differently then she does, doesn't make her any less qualified to be Governor or VP.

    Try funding the Government at all without the rich.  The top 1% of earners pay 22% of all the taxes and the top 50% of earners pay 97% of all taxes.

    I am just scared. We need serious change for the better this time around. People need to be really careful about the way they vote this time around and make sure they get it right and leave the hate and other crap at home. We do not need another Bush.

    Who let you in the VIP section?

    I've seen some mixed up conversations. I think it's a smart move, sure, but this don't make the situation an, "OMG WIN!". There is a lot of people with dough that has more than 4 kids and are normal workers to provide and educate. That doesn't make her personal life any different on the democrat side. It seems as if some of you look at this like a Super Bowl. The midle and lower class may look at this, but lets just dig as deep as we can into the personal life of this Alaska govenor.

    Woot!  Finally, a Vice-presidential candidate who's not afraid to pillage and plunder.  I'll go further than that.  I predict, by proxy, the McCain-Palin ticket will sweep the entire barbarian vote.

    If McCain thinks this is going to bring in the Clinton vote, I think he'll be disappointed.  This will bring the Clinton vote against Obama like Alan Keys brought the African American vote against Obama's Senate race in Illinois...in other words, it won't.

    The problem with the Republicans is that they believe women and minorities vote for women and minorities simply because they are of the same gender or race.  The ones who voted for Clinton were urban, pro-choice industrial women and men.

    As far as issues, the only thing Palin might have that would appeal to Clinton voters are union credentials (I believe her husband or her is a member of the fisher's union).  Even so, organized labor is the oldest parter of the Democratic party with a relationship that has lasted over a century now.  Everything else about Palin is scary to Clinton voters.  Her stance on abortion is about as opposite to Hillary Clinton's as can be.  Her stance on guns is also scary to Clinton voters.  Her stance on education is also scary to Clinton voters.  Her stance on the environment makes Clinton backers puke.  Believe me.  If McCain wanted to appeal to Clinton voters by choosing a woman, there are much better choices (Judy Biggert, Christine Todd Whittman).

    This is about the evangelical votes on the extreme fringe of the conservative spectrum...votes that any Republican should by all rights already have.  This shows me that McCain is in trouble in his own backyard: the great plains states and the deep south.  McCain is trying to rally his base, which shows what kind of disarray the Republican party and the McCain campaign is in right now.  The reason he's in trouble is that this is the time in a campaign when a candidate needs to appeal to the center, not to the culture warriors and towers of the party-line.

    It just goes to show that the Republicans are not taking this election seriously for McCain to take such a desparate step.  Yes, Biden comes from a small state as well, but Obama did not pick Biden because of the votes he could draw.  Biden is on the ticket because of his ability to work Congress and get legislation passed; he has connections Obama doesn't.

    But this Palin?  She comes with three electoral votes that the Republicans were going to win anyway, and no money.  All she has is credibility with the Religious Right, the ultranationalist folks who camp out in private militias, and some naiive idealogues who still think a flat-tax can pass, and practice voodoo economics on Monday after church on Sunday.  The fact that McCain has to pass up a Tom Ridge: a moderate from a state Barack Obama is weak in, but cannot win without (PA) to go with this woman shows me that McCain's campaign is in serious trouble.

    Because now you have to sell this woman to the independents and the closet Republicans: the ones that, in Illinois at least, have been staying home in droves because Republicans insist on running these fanatic freaks like Alan Keys.  The Republicans I'm talking about want lower taxes, and they don't trust the Democrats to do it.  But they are staying home because they aren't willing to come out to vote for a ticket that interferes with family planning, gun control, the peace of mind that something is being done about the environment, and good schools that teach science from labs instead of from pulpits.

    Obama has raised an unprecedented amount of money, and the Republicans are so unenthusiastic about this election that McCain has to settle for matching funds...and even still, Obama can outspend him threefold.  If the fundamentalists, survivalists, and NASCARepublicans weren't on McCain's side before, they might be with him now because of this pick of his, but I'm afraid this pick comes at a very high price.

    Obama and Palin:

    * Obama has 2 yr experience in the US Senate -- Palin has 2 yrs experience as a state governor

    * Obama represented a state house district in IL -- Palin was mayor of a city and was a city council person

    * Obama has is a total party man, voting around 94% with the Dems -- Palin has led the effort to have several Repubs removed from office or at least investigated

    * Both are young

    * Both are considered attractive by many

    * Both are enthusiastic speakers

    * Both are eloquent speakers

    * Both are critcized by the other party as not experienced enough to be president

    * Both have little to no foreign policy experience

    * Obama has legislative experience -- Palin has executive experience

    * Obama has no record of working with the other party -- Palin has appointed both Dems and independents to her administration

    * Obama has had well into the tens of millions of earmarks returned to his district -- Palin has stopped millions of earmarks from coming into her state

    * Obama has talked big about the oil industry -- Palin has levied a windfall tax at the oil industries and every adult Alaskan will be receiving a $1200 check back resulting from that action

    * Obama is an Ivy League educated lawyer -- Palin got her degree in journalism

    * Obama's spouse is an Ivy League educated person -- Palin's spouse is a blue-collar union member oil industry grunt working out in the fields of remote Alaska

    * Obama shoots hoops -- Palin shoots caribou and feeds it to her family

    * Obama has said he wouldn't want to punish her daughter by seeing her get pregnant rather, he'd rather she have an abortion -- Palin refused doctor's suggestions to abort their child after she became pregnant, at the age of 44, with a Down's Syndrome kid

    * Obama talks about being an agent of change -- Palin has BEEN and IS an agent of change

    * Both -- I'll give Obama this one -- have cute kids

    you can nitpick all you want but obama-palin are basicly as raw as each other. to knock her down is to say your obama love is basicly a fraud.

    the only difference is you voting one to be president, your voting the other to have a very slim chance at being president

    There is one major difference in experience between Obama and Palin.

    Obama is a sayer, and Palin is a doer.

    EDIT: You don't need an Ivy League Degree to be a good mother and/or bright leader.

    STOP WHINING!

    Focus! Achievements is what we look at.

    A college degree in whatever does not matter one iota. Nothing! I would like to see more in politicians with NO college degree. College degrees seem to breed intellegent idiots. We have a congress full of lawyers and ya see where that has got us.

    Maybe now we will have someone who will give a non-15 minute answer to a yes or no question.
