How much change did Biden get passed in the past 35 years in Congress? Or was it not possible when Clinton was in office to pass this change he has been a proponent for then? Same can be said of McCain, what so called differance is he gonna make and he had Bush. Well considering he has tried to get change passed in the past. Campaign reform, Pork Barrel spending cut, Earmark spending cut. He wants to make Government smaller. Obama supposedly was about a "new washington" and "changing the way things are done there" not just being different then Bush. It was supposed to be about how Washington does business. I guess the only real change Obama stands for is whether an Elephant or a Donkey is the mascot for the President that is in office. ? You talk as if McCain's change is something Epic. Same ol BullShit same people buying it. Well he is definitely willing to work with both parties. Something that is different then a lot of politicians and something he actually has a history of doing (unlike Obama). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gang_of_14 While I don't agree with all of McCain's positions at least he has shown he really wants Change. He always puts his Country first before even his Party. How? elaborate. Seems hes talking same stuff as Obama just differant opinions on who should be taxed come January. Yes the major difference is McCain will lower everyone's taxes and Obama will raise taxes on a lot of people. McCain will lower Government Spending and Obama will raise it. McCain will shrink the size of the Government and Obama will expand it. What happens when a Democrat puts the American People before his Party? Oh that's right why don't you ask Leiberman? The sellout? If this is all u got... You make my point for me. Leiberman was friends with the Clintons for 30 years and has been a lifelong liberal, yet when he went against the Party on the Iraq War and took the Position that it was best for our National Defense to finish the War he was ostricized by his Party. The People of CT obviously felt Lieberman was the best man for the job since he was relected with no help from his "Friends". Clinton dropped him and supported the Democratic nominee even though that Nominee wasn't the best man for the job. She and all of the other Democrats put their Party before the State of CT and put their Party before what was best for the Country.

This is why picking Sarah Palin was a masterstroke on the part of John McCain: story He has effectively captured two groups with one pick. As the story attests, the conservative base of the Republican party is suddenly electrfied. McCain's pick exceeded their expectations. Lukewarm conservatives are are now eager to contribute to and campaign for him. At the same time, there's no question some disaffected Hillary Clinton supporters will now surely vote for McCain with this pick. Democrats are trying to downplay a woman being on the Republican ticket saying she is so conservative that Hillary backers won't be able to vote for her. But the fact is that there are pro-life Democrats and Independents just as there are pro-choice Republicans. And the ones who believe that Hillary got shafted will have no problem voting for McCain with Palin on the ticket. Democrats will continue to publicly call this a bad pick, but I guarantee you, privately, they are very concerned.
I do not doubt that Palin is a nice person; however the majority of HC supporters are not going to vote for a ticket that does not support equal pay for women, support abortion rights, and voted against the Violence Against Women act. Voting on gender or race is stupid. It's the issues people. For those saying Palin has a "ton of experience" how can she is only 44. She has some, but certainly not a ton. Not to mention, she has a BS in journalism (maybe she has "transferable skills").
Bad choice Mcdeath bad choice. keep on making them.
I heard a stat on Special Report with Brit Hume that women on Barack Obama's staff make an average of about $5,000 less per year than the men on his staff. While at the same time, women on McCain's staff make and average of about $2,000 more per year than the men. So obviously, the assertion that Obama believe's in equal pay for equal work for women and McCain does not, is a myth.

Funny thing about averages.........
If one staff has three women, one a professional political consultant that makes $200,000/yr, and two that are secretaries that make $50,000/yr, the average ($300,000/3) is $100,000/yr.
Now, if the other staff has two women, one a professional consultant that makes $200,000/yr, and one secretary that makes $50,000/yr, the average ($300,000/2) is $150,000/yr.
Therefore, one can conclude that that the first employer does not believe in equal pay for equal work, while the second employer does.

Not to give a pass to the current congress (because they truly are lazy as hell), but Bush did have a republican congress for 6 years. There really wasn't any need for him to veto bills during that period since the republicans just voted with him (like McCain 95% of the time).
Since 2007 democrats have tried to push legislation but have gotten the veto or signing statement, rendering them ineffectual. This doesn't mean they should give up, and democrats are seriosuly pissed that they didn't draft every bill they wanted just to force the veto.

That is a major point too. The democratic majority should have sent every bill they possibly could have to the President and made him Veto them all. Instead they have done nothing and that will hurt Obama in November. You can't use the excuse that "well we couldn't get it done because he would veto it" when they didn't even try.

Exactly. This is why they have a 14% approval rating. Even democrats are bothered by them and their willingness to accommodate Bush. I don't really see it hurting them in November, but they will definitely be expected to reach a higher standard very soon after Obama assumes control, else they will receive walking papers.

You may want to check your arithmetic there. I think example two totals $250,000. But I understand your point. One of the things I didn't mention (didn't really seem relevent at the time) is that the averages were taken from only the highest paid employees on both staffs, so I don't think secretaries were part of the sample.
But it doesn't matter anyway, because McCain chose a woman to be his Vice-president, so obviously he does not have a problem with women. And I'm sure he'll pay her what other Vice-presidents have been paid.

To show which party is holding up whatever legislation. Done all the time. That is why the republicans demanded an up or down vote on drilliing bill. To show who is holding up the bill.

Because it's their job. If someone pays me to plant flowers on land that is slated to be graded next week it doesn't matter. They are paying me to plant the flowers, not worry about what happens to them once they're planted.
Somewhat related but ultimately not.. the way the topic is phrased "McCain taps a young (attractive) woman to be his VP running mate." by saying taps, I imagine a huge political game of duck duck goose.

Does anyone here see what the RNC and republicans are doing here? The last 4 RNC's have all looked and sounded the same. No outsider were allowed in, and it was the typical drivel about how the dems want to raise taxes and how the GOP doesn't. Giulliani and Palin should be ashamed of themselves. They unfairly attacked Obama's community organization experience, and made a mockery out of it. I was moved by McCain's story, he is truly a great American. But in the end, he is a shucking and jiving Republican politician afraid to sleep in the bed his party has made.
The DNC was an inclusive event, and many independents and republicans were allowed to watch Obama's acceptance speech at Invesco Field. To me, that speaks volumes. Obama is welcoming anyone from other parties with open arms, and seeks to unite us. McCain and Palin made it very clear that there exists an "us" and a "them". As a registered independent, this is appalling. The gloves are now offiicially off. The issues have filtered down, and the chips have fallen. This year, Republicans have made it abundantly clear that they will hang onto their last threshold of power by viciously attacking their opponents, and somehow pretend that the average American can disassociate Republicans from Republicans.
Did you know this is the first time in modern history that a President and VP did not attend their own parties' convention?
As Jon Stewart asked Mike Huckabee, "So what your saying is that the Republican party is the only party that can undo the damage done by the Republican party." HUCKABEE SAID YES!!!! He even recognized the lie.
The only true fact that emerged from the RNC is that John McCain represents status quo, and Obama represents change. I am tired of my house losing 5% of its value yearly. I am tired of my 401k losing 3-4k annually. I am tired of hearing about the costs of the Iraq war. I am tired of traveling internationally and having to explain my incompetent President's actions. Mr McCain, with all due respect, I am tired of fighting, and I will not fight with you. I will not rise up with you, and I will not vote for you.

Obama is going to fix it?
How is that?
Oh he will make the Government larger. Isn't that exactly how Bush broke it in the first place? He did the one thing Republicans are always supposed to be against. He made government Bigger.
McCain is for smaller government and less Taxes.
Obama is for larger government and bigger Taxes.

Ya need to stop watching Stewart for your news.
The GOP is inclusive but you have been brainwashed to think otherwise. Palin, if anything, definatly proves this point. The feminist left has said they are for women getting ahead for 30-40 years and now all the sudden, oops, conservative woman. Listen to Tammy Bruce, conservative lesbian, talk about the attacks on Palin. The left is for you when you have leftist ideas.

Because it's their job. If someone pays me to plant flowers on land that is slated to be graded next week it doesn't matter. They are paying me to plant the flowers, not worry about what happens to them once they're planted.
This is like the second time ive agreed with you... WtFudge???
If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude; greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

Better than what i first thought...

HEHE LOL....I was thinking the same thing. Dailybuzz is trying to trick us.
Not at all, I simply call it like I see it. Congress has thrown their hands in the air and started waiting for Obama to get into office. It pisses off the whole country, only 14% don't admit it.
EDIT: grammar go boom
Ya need to stop watching Stewart for your news.
The GOP is inclusive but you have been brainwashed to think otherwise. Palin, if anything, definatly proves this point. The feminist left has said they are for women getting ahead for 30-40 years and now all the sudden, oops, conservative woman. Listen to Tammy Bruce, conservative lesbian, talk about the attacks on Palin. The left is for you when you have leftist ideas.

And I call it as I see it also, but being on the right I get called racist...No problem, block, and move on.
