Okay, I'll play along.
First you type this piece of fine rebuttal and poetic prose to someone actually posting ABOUT the thread:
I love how the wow fanbois are always here on the WAR forums and not playing wow. Really shows how fun wow must be. And before anyone says anything stupid, I play WAR. Blizz lost my $15 a month and Mythic is now getting it. I will never sub to wow again (havent for months and months). cookie cutter classes, scripted dungeons, raids raids and more raids, nerfed world pvp, horrible childish community, TUESDAY PATCHES that cost you a whole day of gaming, pvp sucks, you can run right through other PCS -- LOL !! -- hey for you guys who like world of kiddie-craft, have at it, you and the 10 million asian gold farmers go knock yourselves out. I know you feel threatened about WAR, but thats what happens when your lives revolve around world of warcraft -- if anything comes along to threaten your game (your life) you get scared and defensive. its just a game, and WAR is better.
Then you follow up with this exquisite gem of knowledge, where you proudly admit you have no idea what's being said, because you didn't read anything:
*rolls eyes*
I stopped reading at nonsensical. dude, dont try and impress us with how smart you think you are. Why dont you print this post and show your teacher you use what she is teaching you in class on internet message boards ? She might be impressed, I am not.
And NOW you want a definition of ignorance?
Well, I know you once probably saw someone type "I stopped reading at.." and thought it was deep. My friend, ignorance is lacking knowledge of a particular subject. That statement is not "deep".. it's full of ignorance and fail. Ignorance because you have no idea what's being said by someone, and fail because you can't muster enough will or mental toughness to try and finish reading something, when you couldn't understand what 'nonsensical' meant. You could have gotten a dictionary and tried to finish at least.
Since you chose not to read my post, and then proudly admit ignorance of it, and then follow it up with personal attacks.. well. I know it may SEEM slick, or neato but that is the height of ignorance, I hate to tell you. Attacking something of which you do not know is ignorance in all its glory. Instead of choosing to comment in this thread in a constructive way, you try to derail it and turn it into Attack Hour.
That's cool, but you must be aware, others see through your ploy of hiding behind insults when you have no facts. You have done this time and time again on these threads. You offer no unique views into the Warhammer world other than the ones you have seen someone read and you repeat them as if they were your own.
You say you are tired of Wow fans coming to Warhammer and ragging on War. Well, I've SEEN you go over to post at the Darkfall boards, even though you don't play that and yak. That fact didn't stop you from going on THEIR boards and slamming THEIR game. But now your panties are all in a bunch cause someone said Wow isn't losing subs but War is.
Like I told you before, just because you are Mythic's Apologist #2, doesnt mean you own this forum or this site. It doesnt mean Mythic does either. Its a free board. If you want rosy "GO TEAM GO!" posts, go over to the Warhammer Alliance and kumbaya with them, no negatives are allowed there.
If you are tired of people who don't play Warhammer commenting on it, then why read the fucking threads and reply to posts when they are put up, Mr. Hawking? Don't comment on the threads, just hide your eyes and you'll feel better.

So many words. So much anger. So little thought.
The troll is strong in this one. (Note the justification: Well, you do it too!!!)
Edit: And the REASON he probably doesn't need to read your posts is the same reason why anyone doesn't need to read your posts here. You seem to have nothing to say of value with regards to Warhammer. Have you even played it?
I wish I could read one post on this freakin forum where some WOW fanboi doesnt come in trying to hype up and defend Wowcrap as some incredible game. I mean seriously, answer me this. If WoW is such a good game and is so perfect compared to all other MMO's then why the hell are the masses ready to flee from it whenever another MMO is coming out ?? Huh?? AOC failed, but you bet your ass everyone was running to get out of WoW. War, same thing. So many people once again ready to drop Wow again. Granted these games didn't completely live up to the hype, but still, it goes to show that there is something that WoW just isn't providing anymore that has everyone ready to jump ship and head to the next MMO. I personally think War is great. Its far from perfect but its alot of fun to me. And I think in time it will be an incredible game. I think mythic is doing an awesome job of fixing everything they screwed up. Constant patches, content, etc. LIke i said, not perfect, but its getting there. And as far as AoC goes, im sad that it was such a disaster because ithad ALOT of potential, and was a pretty fun game too, especially combat. But funcome screwed up and well, now they're paying the price. But seriously, WoW kids, give it up already. If you like WoW so much then stay on there forums.... So for those of you who are asking if you should resub to War or give it another try, I say go for it. Its better than it was at launch and its only getting better IMO.... If not then, enjoy whatever game you do play, even if its wow....
You know what?
The truth in all this WoW is better than X or X is better than WoW saga, is that WoW is a pretty average MMORPG.
The tragedy is that even with WoW being an average MMO, the other games cannot even get to the average level WoW sits in.
I am one of those people who when I want to criticise games usually compare them with WoW.
I do that not because I am a huge WoW fan, but because I am shocked that the majority of developers cannot even create games at the same level of WoW, which is nothing special.
So yes I do give lots of grief to Mythic, SoE, Funcom, because they just try to copy an average game like WoW, and they cannot even get close to it.
Developers need to learn to be more inventive and original, if you put some passion in making games instead of using the marketing departement as game designers, we will have many more games which are better than WoW, instead we have to live with this load of crap from all the major developers.
If WAR would have been more like DAoC rather than WoW, it would have been a far better game, so that's the issue most of people has with Mythic.
Scenarios (WoW Battlegrounds) ruined this game, end of.

Since the latest patch, RvR has never been more active and the game is more fun than it's ever been. Then again, I never thought of the game as "ruined" by scenarios, which seems a rather flamboyant and overemotional way to say that you dislike scenarios.

This is so true. I wish other companies would stop trying to beat WoW and instead let loose of the deisgn reigns. People will come to a new type of game. They won't flock to a game that essentially plays just like WOW, but with less features and less polish. There just is no reason to do that unless you are so entirely burned out of WoW anything else will do.
There is a massive amount of people who want something new. It is a shame so few have tried.
Warhammer has some serious potential mates. A few more patches, and ect, and it will be a fine game.
They just need a population on more servers, and it will be gettting up there. No, i dont believe it will ever reach subs that WoW did, but thats because games are coming out, so people are coming and going from game to game. So, i think you get the picture.

Yep, Warhammer consolidated into a nice 200k subscriber game. They just need to close off another 10 or so server and get it down to 20 servers overall and continue to develop the game.

Seriously, do you own stock in Blizzard? There is no other reason I can find for your feeling such glee at any other games' misfortune. And btw that "200k niche" thing you just pulled out of your dignified posterior.

Like I said earlier, try and find a game or hobby or RL activity that provides more entertainment for you then trolling the forums of a game you dont play. You might be a happier little man.
You're quick to forget the WAR boys running rampant on the WoW boards prior to the release of WAR proclaiming the death of WoW, screaming 'waagghh' at every given opportunity and basically acting like a bunch of self righteous fanboys. The majority of WoW players are quite happy to just play their game. It's the WoW haters that incite the trolling and fanboyism with their superiority complex.
Yep. Now you get people like the OP trying to defend a game that everyone knows is shallow and gets boring way more quickly than any other MMO out right now. The signs dont lie. Server merges in WAR within a few weeks of release. Thats gotta be some sort of record.

it must be nice to pull stuff out of your hole and expect people to accept it as if you had any clue what you were talking about. Fact of the matter is, you dont.

Another 7 post wonder with sage advice. Where do these guys come from?
Yes, I've played Warhammer at release. Yes, I think the game will survive as a 'niche' game. Yes, I think the game was fair (read: boring and slow, but not a F2P 2Moons type game yet). No, they did not have the things they said they would. No, they still are not where they need to be to satisfy the average gamer picking this box up off the shelf.
No, I don't tell people to NOT play Warhammer or stay FAR away from it. I think people should learn by their own mistakes. No, you don't have to read my posts or I have to read your previous 6; you used one of them to call someone a troll just now, so I can only imagine how the rest of them go.
Yes, I think Warhammer lost a LOT of subscriptions this year. Yes, I think Wow gained a lot of subscriptions this year. Yes, I do think there is a lot of jealous towards Wow fans in general from Warhammer fans. No, I do NOT play Wow nor did I buy WoTLK.
Yes, I do think there is a certain segment of Warfans that feel they have to constantly apologize, defend, excuse, or praise Mythic and MJ for the 'work' they have done, because their personal feelings and worth are somehow tied into the game's success or failure. These are the ones who usually attack people on sight anytime they see critical posts.
Now, what exactly FACTUAL would you and anyone other diehard Warhead want to argue about regarding Warhammer and subscription numbers as they relate to Wow? I don't play Wow, but based on their financial bottom line, steady product, server capacity and subscription numbers it's a helluva lot easier to defend than this game.
lets see, you try and act cool and say I flip burgers for a living. I think I was correct in saying you are ignorant as far as the subject of my employment goes.

Ok. You win the insult war. Your deep posts such as [.] or [/] are just too much to deal with. Im going back to the fact war.
Wow is bigger than Warhammer and will always be. This will never change until Warhammer closes down one day 4 years from now.
Warhammer is a fair game to play, there is nothing revolutionary in it, save the PQ system, which most people get bored of after two tiers. It has a superstar IP name, but plays like a blue collar game. Again, if you find it the most fun you've ever had in an MMO, that's fine. Most people are happy for you. But just know that most MMO and gaming people disagree and the overall subscriptions over time will bear that fact out. This will always be an average/below average game for most.
It's a slow paced game. It has a limiting talent tree that forces a player to be number 1, 2 or 3. This is no sandbox game. There is no deep thinking and strategy here. Play 'right' like the developers want or the game suffers. If you can push buttons, you can play Warhammer's Pvp.
Warhammer didn't open too many servers at launch as people say they did. This is a common mistake and even I bought into this lie. They opened the CORRECT amount of servers to handle publicity around any new game. When the novelty factor wore off, and most people who played it saw what Warhammer really was all about, they left, plain and simple. 3/4 of them will not be back. The remaining 1/4 are now coming back after the magic (cue choir music) "Hallelujah Patch 1.1" and trying it out. Time will see how many of those will stay. I don't think half of those coming back will stay, because they can't put their finger on exactly why they had this dread or indifference about logging in to play before. But I suspect that dread and indifference will come back three weeks at most after resubbing. You can't infuse fun in a game with a patch.
No Virginia, there is NO Santa Clause. Christmas box sales will NOT soar and pump up the population for 1000 vs 1000 battles as many seem to think. Console games are taking a big bite of that dollar and the rest are waiting for 2009 for Aion, Darkfall and ANYTHING else that will wake them up after this snorefest. This game has peaked less than 6 months after release. The numbers are solid to keep it running, but its not going to suddenly get this huge infusion of people. To believe that is to die waiting for Santa to come.
No, the population in Warhammer has NOT surged up. That is an optical illusion. Those servers that are now beefed up are a result of servers closed down oops.. transfers, that have moved in. While it is good news for you guys on the packed ones (about 5?) its so-so news for Mythic overall. Those 'new' people you are seeing? Talk to them. You'll find they aren't really 'new' at all. They are refugees from the server equavilants of Chad, Bosnia, Rwanda and Detroit.
Hate all you want on Wow and Blizzard, but they have been a great deal more competent than Mythic and Warhammer to date.
Of all the crap you wrote I couldn't help but reading (and I really can't read your BS anymore, it is brain-damaging) just the "1,2 or 3 tree" bit which shows that you have NO IDEA WHATSOEVER how character customization works in Warhammer AT ALL. God knows what other excrement you dumped in those 2 above posts - I won't read any more of them cause I value my peace of mind.
Please just go away and don't embarass yourself anymore.

Heyyyy! Mythic Apologist #1 showed up! Welcome Markoros! Done any double speak lately? Still blaming people for playing Warhammer wrong and Mythic for revolutionizing the MMO industry?
All those people leaving Warhammer still playing wrong huh? Oh well... Merry Christmas!

hating on wow ? I dont think it is a very good game and I dont play it or visit the wow forums. Not sure how that means I hate it. DO I think it is boring, repetive, lame ? well yes, of that I am GULTY.
As far as WAR population goes the game is doing a little better then you give it credit for. The fact you are here, shows you consider WAR to some extent at least comepetition for the love and joy of your life wow. Look, if you enjoy wow, more power to you, I love PC gaming and the more games that are successful the better for PC gaming as a whole. Like I said you are a very ignorant person and it shows on many levels.
As far as WAR closing up, last week it had 18 servers at med/med or greater. It is now at 19. So, dont hold your breath on WAR closing shop anytime soon or in the forseeable future...which is good for you since it is painfully obvious you enjoy hanging out on the WAR forums more then playing that boring, kiddie game wow.

Dunno how to break this to you (again) I do not play Wow lol. You simply keep missing that. If you'd like to believe it thats fine, but you can click on my sig and see what's on my rig. Oh, wait. I have it on another computer right? Guess I can't win lol.
I know a diehard Whammer fan as yourself sees a Wow conspiracist in every thread somewhere just waiting to get out. You've even claimed people are on the Wow payroll if they post critical of War so there's no need for me arguing this one anymore. If you believe it, it must be so. You believe Warhammer is the best MMO out, so it must be so as well.
Those tens of thousands of people who left Warhammer are just losers, kids and bad players who can't play a 'complex' game like Warhammer, right? Those tens of thousands of subs that quit Warhammer over the last 3 months are just crazy ol' Wow fans who fail and as you put it "going back to kiddy camp". And the millions playing Wow are all just kids who fail at 'real' gaming, right? Do you really live your life in such sociopathic absolutes or do you just post that way? I'll try one last time.. I play LOTRO currently, not Wow. Oh wait, you don't read my posts this far. Never mind.
No one said Warhammer is closing up. I give it 4 years abouts until its down, and 2 years before its truly irrelevant. Not now. There is too much of a Warhammer fan base from the table top game and lore world to keep it going and there is not much new on the MMO market atm. But you just wait until 2009. There's gonna be some crying then and some migrations. Heck, Christmastime people are going back to consoles and single player PC games like Fallout.
18 medium servers is fine. I am sure Mythic is extremely content with 18 med/med servers down from almost 60 original ones. It shows progress and I'm sure they couldn't ask for more. Kudos to Mythic for a successful server consolidation. They definitely have something to brag about in the MMO industry with how the servers were handled. Of course, it's not the number they originally planned for but I guess EA can live with 18 med ones. They turned chicken shit into chicken salad. Failure to act would have kill the game where it stood. The game was falling fast and they almost acted too late shutting those 32-ish servers down. They still have to deal with this current GOA mess and shore up Europe and I don't envy them on that.
The fact you are here, shows you consider WAR to some extent at least comepetition for the love and joy of your life wow. Look, if you enjoy wow, more power to you, I love PC gaming and the more games that are successful the better for PC gaming as a whole.
Heck, Christmastime people are going back to consoles and single player PC games like Fallout.

not trying to split hairs, but it is 19 med/med or higher servers now. That was kind of my point, last week it was 18, this week 19...Shows an upward trend...Hows LOTRO going for you, do they have forums ?
I think he messed up his numbers... "So many people" left WoW? There's what, a million max that tried out AoC? Let's assume they *all* come from WoW and even then only count the western side which is about 5 million players that's still only 20% of the players trying out another game and clearly they didn't all stay. Same with WAR
WoW actually even reached a new high after WAR got released so really, if you're going to argue "WoWcrap" you really should try using some real arguments, not fiction.
The point he's trying to make, I believe, isn't what percent leave WoW, or that do leave and go back...
The point, as I understood it, is that there are many people who are eagerly looking for something to pull them away from WoW, and keep them there.
Thus, when any new MMO is coming along that looks promising, they're ready to "jump ship" and try it out.
Typically speaking, when people are wholly satisfied with the game they're playing, they aren't looking to go anywhere.
And, personally, I've seen numerous examples that bring validity to that statement.. People will say "I play WoW, but only to hold me over until "such and such" comes out..." and then, if they go back it's, "Was really hoping for a better game to go to, but "such and such" wasn't what I thought it would be".
So... there's nothing wrong with what the OP says at least in that regard.
As for the people coming here and trolling, etc. etc.. Well.. welcome to mmorpg.com.
And, to be fair, you see that in almost any MMO's forums. There are people who are basically "settling" for the MMO they're playing now, while they wait for an upcoming one that they hope to switch over to.

Hair split.
Using Occam's Razor here.. reasoning suggests that the simpliest answer is often the correct one. Given that tens of thousands of people left Warhammer in less than 3 months time after release, and given that Mythic had to close down over 30+ servers to make the remaining ones playable.. is it more likely to assume that all these new subscriptions recently came to Warhammer and made a 19th server, or that the people from the dead/dying ones left and went there? Usually, the simpliest answer based on past facts is truest. I doubt seriously that enough new subs joined to fill out a server to medium capacity. I don't see box sales anywhere pointing to that. I see Europe recently opening up server transfers and read plenty people quitting or moving servers. Theres your 19th server. Thats called a consolidation, not an upward trend.
But I like how you totally ignore how tens of thousands of people left this game in less than 3 months. Nothing to reply with on that front at all? Because you know ultimately, that right there is the core issue. Huge numbers of lost subs balancing out the subscription levels to more adequately reflect its true gameplay and content.

I didn't argue that point at all though. There will always be people in any MMO waiting for the next big thing and just settling for the MMO they are in now. What I argued was the "So many part" which, as I tried to show was hardly a significant part of it's population at best. Now sure an investor might think "Ow noes! 20% investment!" and you'd be right but it's clearly not a percentage that would in some way imply a large proportion of WOW's populace is only there waiting for the next big thing.

First you type this piece of fine rebuttal and poetic prose to someone actually posting ABOUT the thread:
Then you follow up with this exquisite gem of knowledge, where you proudly admit you have no idea what's being said, because you didn't read anything:
"TO MICHAEL!"
I'm just glad that there's a thread like this that brings out the hardcore WAR forum trollers.
They feel the need to justify their actions and in so doing identify themselves quite clearly.
I love it.

Yup, there is no source confirming 200k.. in fact, no one but ea know how much player warhammer online have.

lets see, you try and act cool and say I flip burgers for a living. I think I was correct in saying you are ignorant as far as the subject of my employment goes.
Like I said earlier, try and find a game or hobby or RL activity that provides more entertainment for you then trolling the forums of a game you dont play. You might be a happier little man.
Yep. Now you get people like the OP trying to defend a game that everyone knows is shallow and gets boring way more quickly than any other MMO out right now. The signs dont lie. Server merges in WAR within a few weeks of release. Thats gotta be some sort of record.

"TO MICHAEL!"
"TO MICHAEL!"
popinjay, will you PLEASE go away?

So, dont hold your breath on WAR closing shop anytime soon or in the forseeable future...which is good for you since it is painfully obvious you enjoy hanging out on the WAR forums more then playing that boring, kiddie game wow.

looks like some of your wow buddies are coming home to WAR popin.
Dunno how to break this to you (again) I do not play Wow lol. You simply keep missing that. If you'd like to believe it thats fine, but you can click on my sig and see what's on my rig. Oh, wait. I have it on another computer right? Guess I can't win lol.

No one said Warhammer is closing up. I give it 4 years abouts until its down, and 2 years before its truly irrelevant. Not now.

Heck, Christmastime people are going back to consoles and single player PC games like Fallout.

not trying to split hairs, but it is 19 med/med or higher servers now. That was kind of my point, last week it was 18, this week 19...Shows an upward trend...Hows LOTRO going for you, do they have forums ?
There are people who are basically "settling" for the MMO they're playing now, while they wait for an upcoming one that they hope to switch over to.
and the cash shop selling asphalt..." - Mimzel on F2P/Cash Shops
Care to comment on those missing numbers?

I didn't argue that point at all though. There will always be people in any MMO waiting for the next big thing and just settling for the MMO they are in now. What I argued was the "So many part" which, as I tried to show was hardly a significant part of it's population at best. Now sure an investor might think "Ow noes! 20% investment!" and you'd be right but it's clearly not a percentage that would in some way imply a large proportion of WOW's populace is only there waiting for the next big thing.
