You are obviously not playing Warhammer at all. And yes, FYI, there were people playing WAR wrongly - actually you can do that, play a game wrongly. If I recall that particular conversation my stance was that if you play WAR, which enables you to do all the stuff you bought the game for from level 1, then solo rush-leveling to the max so you can do the "endgame" is completely pointless and "wrong" because the game is not designed to be played that way. A lot of hate-trolls who ragequit in the first few months did play WAR wrong - they raced to the max level, picking gameplay modes that would give them the most xp instead of most fun and predictably burned out when they realized they shot themselves in the leg - since they outleveled everybody else the T4 areas were empty and the game does depend on other people being there. In fact they played WAR as if it were WOW (or any other EQ-type PvE grinder) - which it is obviously not. WAR's "endgame" begins at level 1 and if you do not take that into account then yes, you are playing it wrongly.
In fact and tbh, if I played WAR that way - solo quest grinding and scenarios so I can level as fast as possible to be the first and "leetest" in the "endgame" - then I would probably think that WAR sucks and ragequit. Instead, when the game released I made a bunch of alts and leveled my main within the population curve as it progressed through the tiers. That's why I now have a guild, an alliance, a bunch of new friends and great memories while the only thing you have is your hate for the game you never really cared to get to know or understand.

Excuse me sir, but can you tell me why tens of thousands of people left Warhammer within the first three months of release? I don't play Wow atm, but I'm curious as to why that mass exodus happened?
It also seems at the same time, Wow has increased its numbers. What is the thing Wow does wrong to KEEP and bring in new subs and Warhammer does right to lose them and not attact too many new subs?

the fact they are here and keep coming back, says so much, in so many ways and on so many levels. The more they come here and give this site attention and traffic the better. WAR is front and center on the minds of the MMO gaming community, people are playing it, having a blast, Mythic is working hard to keep the game exciting and the server pops are growing. And wow fans are already complaing about wotlk. Sadly, many of them it is their first MMO and they cant make themselves walk away from the time and money investment in the characters. So they keep playing that old, boring, gear/faction grind of a game.
WAR was good until lvl 40, the end game is total crap, same BG over and over, and u are disabled, u cant do that you are disabled, u are disabled...now u are dead...respawn?

World of Warcraft was recently launched in Russia and Latin America, and is currently available in eight languages. In addition to North America and Europe, the game is played in mainland China, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Chile, Argentina, and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.
During this time WoW release in new countrys around the world, BC hit Russia and WoW hit South America, so the gain might, just might be to the HUGE marketing campaign in those countrys, yes they got the whole Famous people being WoW chars you can see them on Utube.
Post the Break down of populations playing by Country, North America is not really moving.
WOTLK is the worst expansion ever, blizz is cashing on content which should be free after 2 year wait. Not to mention top guilds alreday finished all the content, now wait another 2 years??
Not to defend Wow in any way, as if it needed defending, but yes the top guilds finished the WoTLK content, but probably 90% of the population didn't. They probably won't reach it until next year either. Thats going by the usual expansion progressions. The majority of guilds didn't finish all TBC content, so there's no reason to think that most will finish WoTLK by January 2009. Now the content may be boring or whatever, but there's still millions playing it.
Now with Warhammer, you don't even have half the people getting to end content before quitting or letting their subs lapse out, and it's easy as heck to get to 40. Again, this is three months after RELEASE. How can this be a sign of a great game in any way? The best compliment that could be said given those facts, are those people found Warhammer fair but not enough to butter their bread and keep paying for. If they found it a great game, they'd still be playing and those servers wouldn't have went kaput.
Again, we are talking TENS of THOUSANDS of players leaving Warhammer. This is not just a smattering of people. When people would choose to let a game sub expire and not resub before even GETTING to endgame, that says volumes about the game.
Either those tens of thousands of people found the game boring, buggy, laggy, broken, tough, confusing.. whatever. The fact that they found Warhammer didn't have what it takes. The question of why they left is the issue that people keep losing sight of.

I played Lineage 2. I really liked the game, but the low US/Europe pop really had a big negative impact on the game for me. In Asia, the game was/is wildly successful. Since I live in the US, I am not sure how I benefit by the HUGE player pop in Asia(which I could not play with). But according to your logic, this would be great for, since you would rather take the world countries. Nice logic, bud. WAR took the war to Blizzard in their home country, if WAR or any other MMO were to beat wow in US subs, you can bet the house Blizz would not be happy. Again, your logic is comical.

Ty, you just don't get it do you? Because I play LOTRO, Fallout3, CoD4.. they are just games. My personal identity is not wrapped up into them. I don't care about Tolkien lore. I never read the books. I don't care about Warhammer lore. I bought the game to play it. When I buy games, it's to play the characters, not to pretend I'm all powerful in some fantasy universe. It's just a game friend, thats all.

Seriously, if I brought you a game that tens of thousands of people left THREE months out after releasing it when their total subs probably anywhere from 250- 300k, then told you that game closed over 55% of its servers in that time (I know, you didnt REALLY close them.. they are just 'waiting' for subs) would you seriously think that's a good sign of a healthy game and then nominate that game to be "Game of The Year" and post they are doing everything right?

You are obviously not playing Warhammer at all. And yes, FYI, there were people playing WAR wrongly - actually you can do that, play a game wrongly. If I recall that particular conversation my stance was that if you play WAR, which enables you to do all the stuff you bought the game for from level 1, then solo rush-leveling to the max so you can do the "endgame" is completely pointless and "wrong" because the game is not designed to be played that way. A lot of hate-trolls who ragequit in the first few months did play WAR wrong - they raced to the max level, picking gameplay modes that would give them the most xp instead of most fun and predictably burned out when they realized they shot themselves in the leg - since they outleveled everybody else the T4 areas were empty and the game does depend on other people being there. In fact they played WAR as if it were WOW (or any other EQ-type PvE grinder) - which it is obviously not. WAR's "endgame" begins at level 1 and if you do not take that into account then yes, you are playing it wrongly.
In fact and tbh, if I played WAR that way - solo quest grinding and scenarios so I can level as fast as possible to be the first and "leetest" in the "endgame" - then I would probably think that WAR sucks and ragequit. Instead, when the game released I made a bunch of alts and leveled my main within the population curve as it progressed through the tiers. That's why I now have a guild, an alliance, a bunch of new friends and great memories while the only thing you have is your hate for the game you never really cared to get to know or understand.

the fact they are here and keep coming back, says so much, in so many ways and on so many levels. The more they come here and give this site attention and traffic the better. WAR is front and center on the minds of the MMO gaming community, people are playing it, having a blast, Mythic is working hard to keep the game exciting and the server pops are growing. And wow fans are already complaing about wotlk. Sadly, many of them it is their first MMO and they cant make themselves walk away from the time and money investment in the characters. So they keep playing that old, boring, gear/faction grind of a game.
WAR was good until lvl 40, the end game is total crap, same BG over and over, and u are disabled, u cant do that you are disabled, u are disabled...now u are dead...respawn?
WOTLK is the worst expansion ever, blizz is cashing on content which should be free after 2 year wait. Not to mention top guilds alreday finished all the content, now wait another 2 years??
long story short both games dont deserve my $15 a month, its money better spent on a lapdance (2 month subs money that is)

World of Warcraft was recently launched in Russia and Latin America, and is currently available in eight languages. In addition to North America and Europe, the game is played in mainland China, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Chile, Argentina, and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.
During this time WoW release in new countrys around the world, BC hit Russia and WoW hit South America, so the gain might, just might be to the HUGE marketing campaign in those countrys, yes they got the whole Famous people being WoW chars you can see them on Utube.
Post the Break down of populations playing by Country, North America is not really moving.
Not to defend Wow in any way, as if it needed defending, but yes the top guilds finished the WoTLK content, but probably 90% of the population didn't. They probably won't reach it until next year either. Thats going by the usual expansion progressions. The majority of guilds didn't finish all TBC content, so there's no reason to think that most will finish WoTLK by January 2009. Now the content may be boring or whatever, but there's still millions playing it.
Now with Warhammer, you don't even have half the people getting to end content before quitting or letting their subs lapse out, and it's easy as heck to get to 40. Again, this is three months after RELEASE. How can this be a sign of a great game in any way? The best compliment that could be said given those facts, are those people found Warhammer fair but not enough to butter their bread and keep paying for. If they found it a great game, they'd still be playing and those servers wouldn't have went kaput.
Again, we are talking TENS of THOUSANDS of players leaving Warhammer. This is not just a smattering of people. When people would choose to let a game sub expire and not resub before even GETTING to endgame, that says volumes about the game.
Either those tens of thousands of people found the game boring, buggy, laggy, broken, tough, confusing.. whatever. The fact that they found Warhammer didn't have what it takes. The question of why they left is the issue that people keep losing sight of.

I live in the U.S. but honestly, if you asked me if I wanted my MMO to have the potential gaming market of people in the US or the people in the world countries.. I'll take the world countries. WAY bigger pool and more success for the game. Why would anyone want a small market like the U.S. when you can have the world?
Even if U.S. numbers stayed the same..so? World numbers are increasing. Conversely, in Warhammer the U.S. numbers may go up slightly (small market) and the European markets are taking a nose dive (bigger potential market).
I'd rather have the 50% of players worldwide that Wow probably wants to get than the 25% of gamers in the United States Warhammer is shooting for.
The U.S. is not the center of the MMO populations. Asia and Europe is.

I played Lineage 2. I really liked the game, but the low US/Europe pop really had a big negative impact on the game for me. In Asia, the game was/is wildly successful. Since I live in the US, I am not sure how I benefit by the HUGE player pop in Asia(which I could not play with). But according to your logic, this would be great for, since you would rather take the world countries. Nice logic, bud. WAR took the war to Blizzard in their home country, if WAR or any other MMO were to beat wow in US subs, you can bet the house Blizz would not be happy. Again, your logic is comical.
