    Please define "Trolls"?

Do you mean someone who disagrees with the fact that Tasos is the Second Coming?

Someone who dares to question some element of the game?  Or raise a valid concern?

Just FWIW you can do a look back at Tabula Rasa, PotBS, AoC and WAR forums and find many many people called "Trolls" for these 'crimes'.
My personal favourite is that the developers have been spending 6 YEARS in prepairing this a scam.. oh that is priceless.
Or 6 years collecting their salaries while they kick back, dabble a little bit with work and take long lunches.  FWIW I have seen some evidence in the past couple of days that the game exists and that there is a Beta going on.  But, what I saw did not convince me the game has all the features claimed by the Fanbois.  It could be that the current team no longer has the talent to make any real progress with the game?

I don't know and now we will have to wait and see.

    Which brings me to:
Just you wait, soon they will say that mmorpg.com is in on the scam because they won't remove the game from its boards, mark my words it will happen soon(tm).
I wouldn't say "in on the scam".

But, if MMORPG.com has not managed to secure an independent assessment or review of the game (even if it is second hand) by the time Players start parting with their money then I will be accusing them of lazy journalism and letting down their 'members'.

Oh, and do you still play WWIIoL? ;-) (I guessed by the "soon(tm)")

Masterfully stated. I've seen convincing evidence, myself, that the beta does exist.

However, I've seen no evidence backing Aventurine's rapture-esque MMO's feature-set. It seems as if a sack of shit will be released for download. (if it ever happens)

Personally, Darkfall looks like a game I would have a blast playing...If I could download and play it for free.

It's honestly like everyone logs onto WoW, and games like WoW, just to masturbate. Everyone plays by themselves, and when they don't, they get what they want and get off.

It would sure be nice if mmorpg.com could step in here and protect the community from a possible scam here with Darkfall. At this point, all we've seen is a graniy edited video from a yr ago. There isnt much proof that this game even exists. And there are beta leaks that suggest the game is empty like Dark and Light was.
My suggestion, mmorpg.com contacts Tasos and asks for a beta key to see for themselves if the game exists and delivers on its promises. A review is due us BEFORE we start giving an unproven and unknown developer money for an MMO we dont even know works. If Tasos refuses, pull Darkfall off the mmorpg.com list and post an article warning the community of a potential scam.
If Tasos and Adventurine want to be taken seriously they will comply. If the game is just another scam where they grab all the money they can before launch day and then run for the hills, then it should be easy for mmorpg.com to find out in beta
scams only hurt the industry. If this is another D&L players are going to be very leary of ever pre-ordering again. Plus it makes other indy devs look bad. Please look into this and confirm the game exists and works or let us know otherwise

This is so logical and well though out it will never fly!

    Apparently it won't.

Stradden made it clear that MMORPG.com will only act if (once?) it is proven to be a scam...

...so..if it's a scam MMORPG.com will warn you after you part with your money?

I've personally saved countless time and money listening to what these "troll haters" have had to say in the past about many games and company's, and got a great deal of entertainment from it.
I personally think the staffs official impartial, objective "hands off", "benefit of the doubt", "innocent until proven guilty" type approach to many dubious games in the past was correct and professional overtime because they allowed the community to discuss the issues and present evidence without passing judgment themselves prematurely before the facts were in.
Not all games are total scams or deliberate rip-offs, many of them are just mismanaged and incompetent or have greedy arrogant people behind them making promises they can't keep and don't really deserve to be removed because that would help them hide their activities.
Its always hard to determine exactly what the truth is until irrefutable evidence is presented, then in my experience this site has always acted, but only when the evidence supported it fully.
I've noticed that the moderation on the Darkfall forum has become slightly more accommodating to the more negative opinions recently after the delays and the announcement of preorders and only limited open beta with NDA before launch, and I think that's another indication that this site has its community's best interests irrespective of their position on the matter at heart.
So in closing and more succinctly, I think the forums should stay until the game is released so that whatever happens, people can get information and read different opinions and make their own decision, removing the game would be counter productive to this sites purpose in my opinion.

It's got to be a cold day in hell with me agreeing with Polarization, but this is a great post I wholeheartedly agree with.

I'm a kind of positive sceptic myself, still seeing a chance and willing to give a chance to Darkfall, but I really think the MMORPG.com staff (and I'm not a big fan of this site) is doing a good job on how they handle DF so far.

It's significant parts of the community on both ends of the scale that are messing up things.

By now you can easily tell apart the real trolls/haters that are emotionally driven from sceptics based on reasoning by their treatment of the MMORPG staff in regards to how they handle DF. Asking for the game to be taken off the list at a point where there clearly is no reason for that move by the stated guidelines is openly showing where those people are really coming from.

Also you can tell apart those who follow DF with a positive mind while still taking the facts at hand into consideration in a critical way from absolutely blind followers based on the same principle: Those who accuse Stradden & Co. of activley working against DF/Aventurine or even giving them a bad press are well out of line, to put it mildly.

Again, I'm not and never was a fan of this site personally, but I can only support the staff for their way of handling this at the moment. This is pretty professional and true to principles, which is very admirable.

if you dont want to be scammed then just wait to make sure. if my friend pre orders im pre ordering too simple as that.

im no way in helle xpecting a perfect game but at least soem stuff cna be improved on if the game design is fine stable mostly bug free. much easyer to improve on the game than to fix any of that stuff

I have to agree with downtoearth to some extend. If you don't trust it, then you don't pay. It's as simple as that.

If he jumped off a cliff would you do the same?

What happened to people making informed decisions of their own instead of jumping on bandwagons?

Tell me... how does one make an "informed decision" about Darkfall?

As of today no-one on MMORPG.com (posters or Staff) can even confirm that Darkfall does in fact meet the criteria listed here.

Specifically I am looking at point # 3.

There may be people who know whether the game does meet this requirement - but they are bound by the NDA.

Why I am particularly interested in that point is that in all the Videos so far there have been very few Characters that appeared to be controlled by players?

And recent comments by Aventurine about 'demand' and server numbers have peeked my interest further.

But most of the information people need to make an "informed decision" is unavailable or based on rumor or unsubstantiated developer claims.

I doubt the game at this state even matches #6 on that list.

Of course the intention was to have that, but from what I hear lately, I have doubts.

What Zayne really meant (I think) is that downtoearth follows this friend of his too blindly. In a lot of the posts it seems that his friend is playing a very nasty prank on him.

Character progession hasn't be shown in DF true, but the idea is that you build your character from scratch by training schools of skill to learn more skills. Thats character progression and advancement.
