I dont know if mmorpg.com has asked about a sneak peek for Darkfall but with the latest doings, it seems time to demand it. For our sake, after all there have been a few scams in the past few years. mmo players are growing tired of indie developers asking for pre-order money then come launch day the game is 95% unfinished.
It would sure be nice if mmorpg.com could step in here and protect the community from a possible scam here with Darkfall. At this point, all we've seen is a graniy edited video from a yr ago. There isnt much proof that this game even exists. And there are beta leaks that suggest the game is empty like Dark and Light was.
My suggestion, mmorpg.com contacts Tasos and asks for a beta key to see for themselves if the game exists and delivers on its promises. A review is due us BEFORE we start giving an unproven and unknown developer money for an MMO we dont even know works. If Tasos refuses, pull Darkfall off the mmorpg.com list and post an article warning the community of a potential scam.
If Tasos and Adventurine want to be taken seriously they will comply. If the game is just another scam where they grab all the money they can before launch day and then run for the hills, then it should be easy for mmorpg.com to find out in beta
scams only hurt the industry. If this is another D&L players are going to be very leary of ever pre-ordering again. Plus it makes other indy devs look bad. Please look into this and confirm the game exists and works or let us know otherwise

I second this.
We've already seen a statement from the site owner indicating that MMORPG.COM would look into contacting Aventurine for a possible preview. I think the community would really like to know what came out of that. Did Aventurine agree to a preview? Did the request go unanswered? Is there a preview pending?
Call Teh MMO P0lic3!!!
You actually bring up a very good point. Most MMOs at this point in their release have at least allowed the press to try the game out for themselves so that the various review sites can post previews of the game. This is like free advertisement for the game and will bring in a lot of people who read game review websites.
For some reason Aventurine has not allowed members of the press to check out their game, which to me is a warning sign. A game that is going to be released in a little over a month has no press coverage besides the interviews where Tasos regurgitates the same answers over and over again.
Kind of hard to do a press beta, when it won't work on more than one pc at a time.

Just toplay a little "devils advocate", many games have been added to this site that did not and do not meet the qualifications, but were added due to popular demand.
Therefore, it should also be possible to remove a game from this site if it is chosen to be so by popular demand.
I ask for an official vote to be taken.
This forum has become a joke with all the " only looking out for you" trolls. Its starting to ruin the whole mmorpg site along with it. Sad, this site had potental
Of course, because the whole point of this site is to hype up unfinished games with barren worlds, features turned off and crappy animations, as well as, praise shady development companies and a guy named Tasos.
This site has better potential when bullshit games and bullshit developers are removed.
Starting with Darkfall is as good a place as any.

cause thats what's being done This game was actually under the radar with all its fans until the WoWers, AoCers, and Warers games didn't work out and decided to take it out on darkfall for some reason. Never could figure that one out. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

wierd, You dont like the game but here you are reading the updates, posting away
Im no troll. Im a fan of Darkfall and want the game to be a hit. A troll would want this game to fail then laugh if it does.
Im not taking issue with the delay, that happens. But this whole fiasco of no reviews, pre-orders only, etc smells bad. Something just isnt right here.
frankly Im tired of spending 50-90 dollars on a game that doesnt work.

That isn't true at all and if you look at the post history for most of those people who frequent these forums and play AoC, or WAR, you will find they had multiple posts in the DFO forums here as well. This game, among the posters of this site, was never under the radar. The only time other forums here had more troll vs fanboy threads was when X game was being released soon, and after the dust settled, people came back to chat on this DFO forum.

I understand where your coming from, but who say's you have to spend 50-90 dollars on the game. Why can't the game be released and then way and see what it turns out to be like? I myself have no problem spending that money on darkfall when it comes out due to the fact that no other game has any potential that interests me.
Keys for MMORPG.COM 's staff and then we'll see. Agree

Your right, they did have multiple posts on these forums, most of them trolling. Not saying all of them were, but the majority.
Damn right! Its about time we started looking out for poor Tasos! Damn all those players with their facts why can't they just STFU and send signed blank checks to Tasos like you do to help support this game? Its obviously the best most feature complete greatest Sandboxx EVER!!!! (as seen by it getting voted both best P2P and F2P game of 2008!!)
This site is the best, as are the posters who frequent it.

Everytime you make a negative post weither its factually based or not a cute virtual darkfall kitten dies.
You, yes you are ruining this game!! If everyone just believes, and post nothing but good things about DF it will be the bestest, greatest, feature complete from from Dec 5th of last year, more ready to release then most games 3 months after they have been released, ever kickass sandbox game!!!
No note much hype there, heh.

A lot of players like to be in Early Access or at launch day. The first few weeks in a brand new MMO make for some great memories when your lost and stumbling to find how things work. Some of the best memories I have from games are at launch.
Others are achiever types and dont want to be left behind. They want to be the first to do - or the first to craft - or the first to find -, etc.
Hiding behind their NDA and using pre-orders shouldnt be an exploit for a developer to grab cash and dash. All we need is someone with credentials to spend a few days playing to prove the game exists, some features at least are in the game, its stable, and worth paying for. That cant possible be considered an unreasonable request

So you want a third party website to attempt to pressure a developer into meeting your demands? That's totally unethical. If they do not want to maintain a DF forum on this then that is fine, just remove it. However going to a developer and demanding beta access whilst threatening to remove their forum and post defamatory comments if they don't agree is completely beyond what is reasonable, if they did this I think that this site would come under an awful lot scrutiny from the general gaming world.
This website is not here to police developers if you think a scam is being perputrated you should contact the real police. If you think it is not real scam and just that a shoddy product will be sold and you are going to buy it anyway perhaps you need policing from yourself?

I've heard this how many times? i remember oh so long ago when everyone said if mmorpg can get an interview then we'd believe them. Welp, got the interview then that wasn't good enough. Its a constant circle. Aventurine has stated before saying if a magazine wanted to play it they were more then welcome to. I hear all this yappin but i havn't seen any magazine/website take them up on it. Not my fault.
I understand where all the crying is coming from though. Most of you were all suckers and played AOC and War which put a bad taste in your mouth. I could only imagine that taste I feel for you, but i'll just have to wait and see what DF deliveres when it does.

MMORPG Italia has tested the game.
Gaming websites and magaiznes for the most part get paid by the games they try out or interview because it is advertizment.
Games:
Currently playing:Nothing
Will play: Darkfall: Unholy Wars
Past games:
Guild Wars 2 - Xpiher Duminous
Xpiher's GW2
GW 1 - Xpiher Duminous
Darkfall - Xpiher Duminous (NA) retired
AoC - Xpiher (Tyranny) retired
Warhammer - Xpiher
Yes, I think it is time to call Aventurine out.
What happened to all those player testimonials? Were those made up? Because those painted a picture of a polished product with a "few areas needing tweaking."
What happened to, "Darkfall is more polished than most MMO's..." Tasos said that in his first interview with Stradden. What about the rest of the interviews painting a rosy picture?
Was the above just lies to lure players and perhaps attract investors?
What's up with the ironclad NDA? Why only one source of leaks? Where is the update section on there website showing a product in development? A guess a white border is an update... silly me.
Aventurine has lost my trust. Sure, any MMO could get delayed, but this has been ongoing for years and most MMO's aren't shrouded in such secrecy. Most don't have a PR guy saying how it is the best thing since bread and butter on one hand and showing NOTHING on the other.
I asked for VERIFIED info (those not from Aventurine controlled sources) and they failed to deliver. I have to wonder if NDA stands for Not Doing Anything in this case.
Now they hint at a pre-order? Now they want my money? Sorry, only a fool would pay money at this stage of the game. Now, I probably WON'T play DF until it releases and a multitude of players verify that it is indeed a worthy experience.
And since MMORPG.com is featuring this game on their site, they too are playing a part, and yes, as the OP mentioned, they might just want to cover their butts to save face.
