Anyway this game sounds interesting. I like the no auto target thing but I'm concerned about the choppyness which perhaps can be fixed later.
Also I don't really like the idea of people coming up to kill me while I'm fighting something else. That doesn't make me less hardcore nor is it a good thing to everyone. You can't say because you can kill whoever whenever that this game is better. To some people it's just stupid. I like to be in control of the challengeI decide to take at any given time.
Still I respect that other people like that sort of thing and I imagine this game is exciting for people who do like that. In my opinion too much freedom can be a bad thing though because then the game can be controlled by a bunch of idoits that ruin it for everyone else. Not saying it has or will happened with this game, but it's dangerous to do.
Anyway I'll keep my ears peeled for any free trial and then check out.
(BTW the best MMO I ever played, which is very out-dated by today's standards, is FFXI. I've never played a game with a more amazing community.)

I am in the same boat as you, playing this game since the launch and all I can say is this is by far the best MMORPG since 1999
I played nearly every big MMORPG out there... and even though I had a blast in Aion Korea, AoC -> Darkfall is by far the most immersive MMO I have ever played - can't think of going back to the other MMORPGs ever again...
So thanks much Aventurine for making it and finally finishing it... I hope you keep up the good work and you can iron the remaining issues out. You really have a masterpiece in your hand... and even if the game is truly not for everyone, I am sure many finally found a Game where the seeking for the next best MMO is history...

Speedhacks were crazy common in AC when it was new. WoW had more PvE hacks due to the combat system.
Difference is this is a PvP focused game so you will notice them alot more then PvE hacks. I'd expect them to be handled once they get things under control tho, their still working on getting people in the game so it would be kinda silly to expect them to work on that right now lol

Yeah it would be silly to expect to pay for a fair PVP game when it's released. I expect them to take my money in advance, and make me pay $15 per month until sometime down the road, when I can enjoy the game's fair, balanced PVP.

Never have I been so excited about a new MMO. For the record I have played MMO's since 1999 EQ, DAoC, GW, WOW, EQ2, Vanguard, AoC, WAR.. and other lesser mmo's not even worth mentioning. I suggest everyone to try it don't judge until you have given it a try! It's not for everyone, but definitely worth a try!

Darkfall is the MMO I have been waiting for since UO, AC, EQ1 (Rallos).
It is rough around the edges for sure but the client is stable and I can play the game for hours without a hitch.
The systems; combat, crafting, spells need some more balancing and need to be flushed out more but they work.
The game has been amazing immersive, I think the first person camera restrictions actually made the game better. the game seems like a step backwards to many newer MMO players but it gets in touch with the PvP roots of the MMO genre that has been all but abandoned by the newer flashy, no one loses PvP MMOs that have been flooding the market over the last few years.
The game isn't for everyone but for the folks that fondly remember the excitement of risk based PvP in UO and old school EQ this will be a welcome change and a strange feeling of coming home. The game has a long way to go to be complete but it is an amazing success considering it was developed by a small indie developer without the Mega Producer dollars and more importantly the Mega developer push to make yet another MMO McDonalds MMO Clone.
There are plenty of McDonald’s MMO out there for players to stuff themselves on, but it is nice to finally have a different option for those of us that are tired of MMOs that smother PvP with Rainbows and Hugs and lie to the players telling them they are all special.

I also think that this is simply the best MMORPG ever made. I participated in the largest PVP battle to date. About three hundred and it was the most epic thing I have ever been apart of. Enemies as far as the eye could see. Confusion, chaos, mayhem. Our guild arrived to help defend the Hamlet under attack when we our 40 members passed the hill to see the hamlet it was like the opening scene from Saving Private Ryan. Epic...truly epic.

You must be mistaken about the best, in your opinion it may be and that is fine. I was banned from their forums for telling it the way I saw it, not only that, but they banned my sons account and he has nothing to do with what I said. They are banning and hiding anything other than good things. 52 minute wait times to get in and play, minimal amounts of clients available like your in a private club. The game is just horridly full of game bugs and cheats, Christ you can un plug your internet cable before you die from gankage. Adventurine can go suck a turd.

well, i know in eve that if you have aggro you can logoff all you want; but you don't instantly disappear. i'm thinking that linkdead to avoid dying would be during some type of combat yes? otherwise that statement makes no sense at all.

2 half the features STILL listed on the darkfallonline.com site have been scrapped from the game. essentially all the items that REALLY set the game apart.

4 people hailing items that have been in most ALL MMOs for the past 4+ years, as revolutionary and next generation. wouldn't next generation mean that they weren't in games that have been out for the past 4+ years and they were... o i dunno, NEW?
5 revolutionary mob AI is simply making the distance mobs spot you farther out? wow, that's idiotic to even make that statement. let's look at the hated wow.... mobs that run when they're badly hurt - check. mobs that go get their buddies to help fight you - check. mobs that you can not attack (and damage) from a position in which they can not attack back - check.

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
The reason there is somuch hate here is simple. People can't stand it that you have found a mmo you enjoy (wether the fun last for a long time or not is a different topic) and that you can look beyond some of the aspects that are mediocre or even bad.
The same people are those that are waiting year upon year for some unrealistic perfect mmo of their dreams. Not gona happen, if you ever want to enjoy mmo's again you should get used to making compromises.
No I am not playing DF and I am not a 'fanboy' so stfu.
1 incessant darkfall fanboi trolling all over the net for the past year.
2 half the features STILL listed on the darkfallonline.com site have been scrapped from the game. essentially all the items that REALLY set the game apart.
3 arrogant, condescending attitude (as seen in interviews and postings) by av staff.
4 people hailing items that have been in most ALL MMOs for the past 4+ years, as revolutionary and next generation. wouldn't next generation mean that they weren't in games that have been out for the past 4+ years and they were... o i dunno, NEW?
5 revolutionary mob AI is simply making the distance mobs spot you farther out? wow, that's idiotic to even make that statement. let's look at the hated wow.... mobs that run when they're badly hurt - check. mobs that go get their buddies to help fight you - check. mobs that you can not attack (and damage) from a position in which they can not attack back - check.
6 funky/junk animations, dated graphics, bad sound
i could go on... but seriously, if you haven't picked up on all of those items (or whomever hasn't picked up on those)... what's the point? no trolling of fanboi-ing needed.
