    LOL, I still have the alpha installs, a few cds, the old manual ( pre codemasters ).

     

    I miss that game :(  Too bad the community and new owners brought it down, now its pretty much a joke.

    Again... another one SAYS there playing Darkfall yet posts here? I still play wow from time to time and when I post about the game I post .. LMAO THERE..  Also ever notice most have played EVER mmo out there and OMG DarkFall is the best.

    So if you LOVE the game SO much POST THERE and SUPPORT THEM! I dont read this stuff over there.. hmmm

    Ok, to OP, the game isn't that good. The game has potential but there are fundamental flaws with it. They are easy to be fixed and that's why I'll give the game a few months. At first I thought I would give them 2 months, but it seems they will barely let people in by then, so I'm gonna give them 3-4 months.

     

    The biggest problem with this game is balance, or lack of. There are balance problems with every part of the game, most significantly with crafting, making everything easier to obtain by farming rather than crafting. Also there are missing features, the one's that won't be in, in 3-4 months are housing and player shops. The rest will probably seep their way in soon.

    Fair comments.  My 2cents below.

    Balance is a matter of opinion.  Everyone thinks the other "people" are overpowered.  So everyone cries nerf.  Even in a game in which everyone can be everything, no class, no level, ranged still think melees are overpowered, and so on and so on.  Eventually, FOTM will come in, and everyone will copy each other.  Standard templates will mean that only a few viable options rule the population.  If a 2hander will also beat a 1hander, who will play a 1hander?  Remember SWG with all the skills, standard template still dominates, you either follow the few "best" or be beaten badly in PVP.

    Missing features are what really bugs me.  DF start by pretending to be big, to offer so much the other developers never dare talk about.  At the end of the day, they deliver a game with even less features than the average new MMO.  Sandbox means no feature, mobless world means no mobs.  Questless world means no quest, or very few.  Basically this is just a large empty world with little features where everyone scrambles to fight someone to zerg.  The more I read, the more I feel this is an extract of the pvp subgame of WoW or DAoC, with levels, and most features stripped off, and adding full loot PVP.  For those who care for full loot PVP, that might make sense; for others I wonder why we should buy a new game with less features in everywhere except full loot ffa pvp.

    Then the question comes to mind.  If gear does not matter why bother full loot.  If gear means a lot, why bother full loot either?  Full loot either gives way to serious griefing, or just stupidity (grind a couple hours and get them all back).  All full loot ffa pvp attracts are about the worst kind of gamers online.  Not really a positive feature imho.
