And we all know that where girls go, boys follow...

I originally thought my 15 year old daughter, who plays Wo_ (censored) hardcore, would love this game. Shes into the anime thing, Japanese Music, Asian Videos, etc. But she played in the second CBT for like 2 hours and never came back. Didn't bash it or anything, didn't say it had problems. Just flat didn't appeal to her at all. I was disappointed, but at least we still play that "other" game together.

sorry for off topic-tanget but here goes:

Tell her to watch the following Anime's if she has not seem them already.  (some of my favs)

Great Teacher Onizuka,  Death Note, and Bleach.

I just got my rig up and net hooked up so I watched like 10 bleach episodes last night to catch up! =D

Good, more females likely makes for a better community.  But, if anyone has hopes of meeting that special someone, be prepared to reveal your freak side when you explain to your RL friends and other how you met your GF/wife.

Also keep an eye out for adam's apples and bearded ladies....

WTF!? Women don't belong in our manly games, they should be in the kitchen making you a sandwich while you are playing Aion.
I am disappoint in you all..

When I played WoW and AoC, it really seemed that 90% of female players (who made a point to tell everyone they were female in vent) were complete idiots. They had no care whatsoever for theorycrafting their character and had that interest instead in pets, running around naked, or complaining about how their armor didn't match, etc. It's annoying, especially when the last thing I want to hear during a raid is some chick's annoying voice in vent complaining about her new skirt not matching her chestpiece. I am competitive too, as many others have complained about, but I guess it's that sense of having to prove myself to guys who still think girls can't play.

This thread must set a record for jokes or ironic comments that fly completely over the head of others.

There is a girl in our guild. I think she's real as I heard her on vent. She says she's crap at PvP but I'm not sure I'm prepared to believe her. Me, well I'm playing a girl because i like dressing up.

Sir, no offense meant, but how could you possibly back that statement up?

And how old were these female CHILDREN, exactly? EVERY woman in my guild is into theorycrafting and min/maxing their toons. And I can say that for all of the games OTHER than WoW I've played as well. Women who are NOT competitive generally don't gravitate to gaming. The ones that do...perhaps....just perhaps....aren't women, but rather GIRLS.

There are plenty of stereotypes  that have no basis in fact other than some people try to act them out after they have been created.   A lot of what I have been reading in this thread is based on feminine fiction that a lot of boys and men who do not interact enough with women believe.  You simply can not learn what women are really like from other boys and men.

As for gaming we have been here longer than you think, in more numbers than you think, longer than many of you have been playing.  Aion will attract many women because entire guilds , clans and legions are jumping to Aion and they are going with them.  It will attract some women who make the choice of what game to play for the family (like my self).   The graphic quality of Aion's characters both male and female is simply superior to any other MMO being offered.   The NA developers have blown off request for graphic improvements for years and now it has come back to haunt them.  That being said many people are being drawn to Aion and many of those people are women.

Those gamer grrls in your raid flirting it up and stinking at PVP? ... likely not real women IRL.

S#it, screw Aion, I'm going back to WoW. ><p You may have just made the ultimate argument...

First, nowhere did I make an argument to play WoW over Aion (if I was, it was inadvertently), whether you were being facetious or not. I don't play it (WoW) anymore, which is why I used the term "used to." (Yeah, I sensed the humor in your post, as I said, but the need to clarify for certain other posters is a necessity.)

Secondly, no, you can't hack her to pieces as she's in a sanctuary. Sucks, I know. She's blood elf female, fittingly enough, too. And no force in this universe could ever make me play that game again, even if the ability to kill her WAS available (it would be tempting, however). I don't care if everyone I know is playing it. Right now I don't even have an MMO to play and I won't play it--nor Aion for that matter, and I have a free copy of Aion available thanks to being a TR subscriber (truly "lol" worthy, yep).  Playskool swords, skull shoulders that emit an aura of flames and anime characters don't appeal to me these days. What can I say? (Also, before anyone freaks out on me and wants to know why the appearance of a character alone would stop me from playing a game--there are myriad other reasons that I won't be playing them, but it's irrelevant in this context.)

I did try CO, but the PvP felt too tacked on for my tastes.

Although, I didn't mind the Asmodian charaters THAT much, but you didn't hear that from me.

I can only thank NcSoft for allowing females to play and cloth themselves as male players do! This is HUGE! I've never understood why a female player has to go around half naked ,when her male counterpart doesn't.  Aion breaks this barrier and allows females to dress, and arm themselves as their male counterparts. I can only think this would be highly attractive to any female wanting to play this game as a female and not as a male.

    Hilarious. Made me laugh =]

Im not sure how accurate this may be but im pretty sure that at least 80% of "hot gamer chicks" dancing around in their underwear as Night Elves or whathaveyou are often creepy men with excess facial stubble in their mid to late 30's. I wouldnt base my decision on whether or not to play a game on how many "chicks" are playing

    That comment is total bullshit.

I'm in my early thirties, and make my High Elves, Night Elves, Humans, Gnomes, Dwarves, Hibernians, and many other girl toons dance around in their underwear...

The greatest thing, though, since I started playing EQ oh so many years ago... are the people that give you free stuff just because they "think" you're a girl just because your avatar is one.

For everyone out there playing MMO's, rule of thumb is this... it doesn't matter if it's a male or female behind the avatar... it's a human being. You should treat them equally regardless of sex. If you're playing a MMO to try to pick up a piece of ass, don't be surprised when people ruin your masturbatory fantasy by telling you they're a dude... (whether they really are or not, I know women who have done this just so they can be treated like "one of the guys" for pug's).

But for OP's original post... The Sims Online brought women in droves... I don't think it surpassed WoW in subs.

The Sims has sold over 100,000,000 boxes, and is the biggest PC game series ever. It's estimated that 60% of these players are female... think about that, it's core to my OP :)

lol no wonder, my ex-girlfriend of 2 years ago used to play this shit.  I 'd always make fun of her and invite her to play ffxi with me, but she always refused.  And when she refused to have sex with me, I'd just log onto my mithra character and spend time with the character instead.  (It was like my 2nd girlfriend) and when I spent more time with the character, she became very jealous...and then she would offer to have sex with me just to get me off the game.  (no pun intended).  =P

I wanna make a hawt ranger in Aion! Hopefully this will get me laid IRL more. lol....

ONLINE ONLINE ONLINE ONLINE ONLINE ONLINE ONLINE... Ok... Sims.... ONLINE. Got it?

The game... SIMS ONLINE... with me still...? It had many women subscribers... it did NOT attract many male gamers in droves... just because... women were populating it. Otherwise... still following me...? Otherwise... the SIMS ONLINE, the online version, not 1, 2, or 3... subscriptions would have surpassed that of WoW.

jeez, has anyone ever accused you of over reacting at all. You really act like this in a conversation in RL?

Tbh, I can't really be bothered to carry on a conversation with someone who talks like this past this point, whatever point they are trying to make, past saying that the Sims Online failed for many many reasons and the point is moot to the OP. That game wasnt this one. That was then, and this is now. One situaion dosent evidence the other.

But like I say, you have the floor. All to yourself.
