The game gets a C, which isn't too good. Although I still think the score is too positive.
More importantly,
This is the second review (after Eurogamer) which points out Aion's grind.
Something IGN claimed the game didn't have, remember those liars? pc.ign.com/articles/102/1027688p1.html
Anyway, nice to see the truth is coming out.

Yes the truth is definately coming out. I said it before and I ll say it again, there are so many aspects in Aion that makes it mind numbing to even log in. I think you ll see a very average sub base in the west.
Nice review didnt even make into the Abyss lol
Look at Xfire.com for the real stats
Aion v3 "RELOADED" - A glimpse into the future of the MMO genre
{mod edit} Let me take a quote from IGN's review. "Having logged at least fifteen hours of game time since launch, here are my first impressions of Aion. "
The guy didn't lie to you. He only plays 15 hours. He makes to level10. If the first 10 levels of Aion is called a grind, every other mmorpg can be called a grind.
op if at least the guy at 1 up had the decency to level til max level then make his review i would take note of his opinion but any review involving mmo that stop before having reached end game or arrive at end game too early (powerleveller)
is in my view not even worth anything
its like starting a private wow server and saying men wow is boring need a group ,of caurse lol its an mmo
and for 1 up idea that aion is a grind
all mmorpg and prob most mmo period are grind ,fury had a system that was diff but it still had grind
gw max level could be reach almost at start but if you wanted anything accomplished you still had to grind
any noob that say mmo grind is boring isnt credible ,since all mmo are full of grind
no grind no mmo its that simple then you ll whine theres no content.play FREE REALM if you dont want to grind
I don't really think it's fair to review an MMORPG until you've hit level cap. I don't care how bad the reviewer thinks it is, unless his boss says he wants a review of the game on said date. Which sucks because it's really not their fault in the end.
I'm not really an Aion fan or anything. I got level 33 and 22 on an alt and I haven't logged in since out of boredom however, giving a review of an MMORPG pre-maturely is a little bit of a joke. At least experience the whole thing. I don't care if your opinion doesn't change and you still want to call it a gorgeous mmo with too much grind. I would hope said reviewer was on a deadline otherwise the dude/gal is the definition of a scrub.
Who the hell still uses xfire, not the general population of an MMO that's who. You can't use xfire for any "real" stats, since more than half the population don't know/won't use it.

lol no surprise america doesnt play any game but wow ,oh they get 100 k might go to 300 k american player but thats it
gamer in america just cant accept they are burned out of gaming too much wow pvp ,too mutch wow raid ,too mutch farming ,too mutch pk ,too mutch of everything ,the fact is lot of player in wow spent as mutch as their day job in time at playing wow
i just wish the burned gamer would just step down from gaming ,till cataclysm come out, because now all these bogus review about game not even reached 25 % of content played are killing all game ,be it aoc,gw,war ,silkroad etc etc etc.
and all the games cant be wrong 1 two maybe but since wow released ALL game were bad mouthed by gamer
so i say all those game cant all be wrong
WE ARE WRONG (GAMING COMUNITY)
best is to take a year off gaming and come back later

Thats like saying voting polls and media surveys are useless. Xfire polls % of the gaming populace 24/7, just because you dont personally use it doesnt mean anything. Eat some humble pie -----> xfire.com.

You just compared apples to oranges. Voting polls online mean jack obviously because of multiple posters. Voting polls in real life however is true statistics since the only means to vote is through the poll and it is also regulated so it can't be abused.
Media surveys are useless, it's wasted tax dollars. Like i need to know that 500 people out of 1000 think that this tooth brush is better because _. It's irrelevant in the fact that the product/service is opinion based. Or how 736 people got sick from this out of 5000 well it's a high concentration of sickness however what about those 4,264 people that weren't. It doesn't mean jack.

XFire is not a reliable source for these kind of statistics, simply because not everyone uses it. Saying otherwise is........funny at best.
A level-based MMO with no grinding... now that would be a feat.

Aion has enough xfire user to statistically gather a very REAL trend of playtime. Whether you dont persnally use it means nothing. Let me guess you never studied statistics? Im sure one day you will under what all the numbers mean.
Aion v3 "RELOADED" - A glimpse into the future of the MMO genre
It is my feeling that you can not review a game until you have actually played it. For MMO class games that means making it to the end game. To play for a few hours and call it a review is nothing short of dis-honest.
In short, do it right or don't do it at all. I don't want to waste my time with some half-wit's half honest review of half a game or half of anything else. I use to term half wit to describe anyone that feels that an article about the first 15 levels should be counted as a review. On the other side of the coin, Has anyone reached max level yet? Hmmm... maybe it is too grindy.
That said, I would rather see reviews of the full game, not just the starting areas.
As for XFire, it is a accurate as any other market research company.
its not the exact number that is important in xfire its the fairly accurrate trimestrial rank you ll get a graph after 3 month if you record them and it will give you a fairly good picture of where player are true some game refuse to be posted there for obvious reason no game want to be seen in any position with an average play time of 20 hour a day lol, that would meaan their game is dead ,and true some other like cabal online use bot on dummy that auto attack 24 hour a day 7 days a week to raise their xfire ranking but i can say it doesnt move it enough to be worth talking about ,it just keep cabal in the first to 50 stop to be sure their game is seen as popular ,hell eq2 stays around the 110 spot and i bet they make ton of money last summer they had 400k paying player not bad for a game that is older then wow ,and had one of the hardest start in the mmo hisory

I don't think you understand . Xfire stats track Xfire users. Based on that, it is 100% reliable. However, since we don't know what percentage of the entire gaming community uses Xfire, how can the Xfire stats be reliable when viewing the community as a whole?
Serously, are you that thick, or are you just trolling my case here?

Lets flip this coin;
If the game feels like a grind by level 10...then...is it going to feel *less* grindy as the experience required to level raises? Sure, sure...
Seriously, I don't get where you retards come off thinking you should pay money to play a game in which you have to suffer a certain amount to find the fun. If it seems like garbage from first run, it's *GARBAGE*.

lol take any poll ,any be it for obama or anybody else do they take 100% sample of opinion ,lol! they would have to call 350 million citizen lol
its the same for xfire they take a sample and it reflect pretty closelly how it is in the concerned game rank
you wont see tabula rasa in the first place instead of wow if thats what your affraid of

lol .ALL mmo are grind .dont like grind ,dont play any mmo.
I read that review and it was awful.I don't even like Aion, but everything the reviewer cried about ,reminded me of a little kid who just died in Super Marios bros and had to restart the level, threw the game against the wall and quit.
If there is no failure,no challenge in a game, then there is no game ,it is that plain and simple,no PHD degree needed. The problem is that it really has become apparent that since the inception of WOW,that seemed to attract a new breed of gamer, mainly little kids that finally got DSL and could go online.I saw a bit of it in the early EQ2 days as some players were crying about shard runs.
These types of gamers should not be playing anything more challenging than checkers, and even that would send them off whining. There are things in games to complain about ,if they are done too cheap or show no effort, after all you are giving them your money, you SHOULD expect effort and quality.
This is not what the majority are complaining about. They are complaining about the only mechanics a game has to offer any challenge. They are complaining of too hard or too long, well if that is the case, then that game is obviously not for you ,now is it?Is is really that hard to figure out?I mean the mentality is like saying there should be no football, baseball, hockey because they are too hard and take too much effort, all sports should be like yahtzee or checkers, easy and fast.
Let me repeat,if it is too hard or takes too much time, then it is not for you,it is not a fault of the game,it is your fault, play something else.
This whole thing reminds when Americans complained about Hockey because they said they could not see the puck.Yet these same people watch baseball in 100,000 seat stadiums?umm i think it is a case of whining for the sake of whining not because they have any merit.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Are you dense?
What he's saying, and he's correct, is that, of the people that USE XFIRE, x amount of those people may or may not play Aion. However, there's no way of knowing what exact percentage of all people that play MMOs, use xfire, hence it's a pointless tool in this scenario, since the margin of error is impossible to know.

Aion v3 "RELOADED" - A glimpse into the future of the MMO genre
it give a good idea of the position a game isw if xfire say aion is number 4 you wont see aion in position number 100
it give a balpark true it could be in 10 position or it could be in secont spot but it give fairly accurate idea if you stick to playing the top 120 game you can be sure aion wont be in the 125 th spot
and thats accurate enough for gamer
