    www.youtube.com/watch - around 2:20 it clearly says "Summer 2009".

I don't exactly remember when date was pushed back, but in June it was still "Summer 2009" on their official site.

Noone would complain if SV wouldn't charge their credit cards for 75$. Other companies just take bank loan to finish their product.

I'm sure MO will be great game in few months - but SV should handle preorders in much more professional way.

Adrala.. I mention your MOForum post count (near 3000 in just over a year) as it clearly demonstrates that you are a rabid "true-believer" with no claim on objectivity.  Your responses are very difficult to read and disjointed.  Again.. why do YOU care if the company refunds MY money for a product they haven't shipped me after 6 months?  Why in the world would YOU care?

The only reason I can think of is that you fear there are MANY people like me that have had enough of this charade and want our money back, and you fear that this will jeopardise the finacial well-being of StarVault.  Why else would you care? Do you care when the person on line next to you at the electronics store is returning their new stereo?  Do you start a diatrabe listing the stores return policy?  Or do you... like any sane person.. go about your personal business?  Your reactions are not those of a normal person (at least from what I can tell while wading through that mess of a post)

But look at it this way... if there are THAT many people that have had enough and want their money back that it would send the company into default... doesn't that  say a LOT about the company and product?  What do you think will happen at release?  We will all be "converted" like you are and keep funneling cash into Star Vault so they can continue their on the job training in MMO building?

Computer games gets delayed, that is a fact of life.

Blizzard remade Diablo 2 from scratch 4 times before releasing it, over 2 years later than they said first.

It is not such a great idea to have any release date whatsoever, there is always unknown problems with everything, few games ever releases in time and MMOs are larger and gets more issues than any other kind of game.

When the times comes you can either release what you have or wait until you are actually finished. Vanguard did the last thing.

WAR was moved 6 months back and then released even though it should have been moved back again.

If Star vault is smart they should wait until they are done with the game, the alternative is worse. And the people who wait on the game should understand this, releasing a game too early is the easiest way to make a good game into a total disaster. It is annoying to see a game becoming moved back all the time but since you prepaying guys are in the beta you can still play it, it wouldn't be better for you if they released it, it would just upset all players who actually buys a released game.

Besides: Never buy a game that isn't out yet unless you are an extreme fan of the other games the devs have made.

I also recently corrected you on your statement that all players would get a free 15 day extension for the delay (In actuality only Limited Edition orders get an extension and just 7 days.. because they still have no chance of shiping anytime soon).  For someone that has 3000 Mortal Online Forum posts (in 14 months) you seem to push an awful lot of wrong information at people...

Maybe you should learn how to properly speak to people and stop being such a rabid fanboy armed with wrong info all the time...

don't let Adrala get to you...easily one of the most delusional of all the fanboi's and spits more disinfo than anyone

he's like the SV devs...complete liars and psychopaths and hypocrites of the highest degree

he claims that you should have read the agreement in regards to the no refund policy but of course ignores the FACT that this same agreement also stated delivery of said product in September and still he goes out of his way to defend these scam artists

people like Adrala really make me sick

Reason boxed copies hasn't been shipped yet: SV outsourced making of the boxes to some Chinese sweatshop that promised to make them cheapest...they paid the company but hasn't gotten a word from them yet.

    Oh noes!

Instead of the 15 days I said, people will get 7!!!

    What a huge disinformation OMG!

    :D

And what are you linking me?

    The old FAQ from 2008?

And the teaser also from 2008? Where the phrase "Summer 2009" flashes for 3 sec?

Again we are dealing with your imagination. I cant see how "Summer 2009" may mean "The game will be released in the summer of 2009".

Have you thought that it may have actually ment beta will be availeble in the summer of 2009 as it happened?

What I am speaking about however is the official release date that was posted on the page on 13th of July 2009.

You know, in the newsletter that preceeded the opening of the preorder shop.

Here, I w ill help you though I am sure you know what I am talking about:

    www.mortalonline.com/news/july-13-07-09

And to make it even easier for you:

The physical products will be shipped from Sweden around September. Further updates before the launch of the full game will be shipped free of charge in connection to the launch. When buying a physical version you are also allowed to download the game, and play it in your corresponding Beta block.

The launch of Mortal Online is planned for Q4 2009 (Oct-Dec). This is not set in stone however, as we want all core features to be in place and properly tested before charging monthly subscriptions. We do not guarantee a specific release date for Mortal Online.

And in December they again officially in another newsletter pushed the release date for one month.

These are the only two official statements about the release of MO.

The rest is either very outdated info or pure speculation.

As I'm sure someone else here has told you -

Any pre-purchase  (which it was made very clear when the shop opened this was a pre-PURCHASE not a pre-ORDER and that there would be no refunds) comes under the condition that the release and therefore shipping date of your product is subject to change. Guess what? It was changed. The announcement that it would be pushed back was made known quite some time ago so I have absolutely no idea what you're complaining about.

All of the info you're whining about now was made easily available. It is NOT SV's fault you haven't been checking your email for the newsletter or even bothering to check their website....which is all the newsletter tells you anyway. They announced months ago that the release was being pushed back so it's not like this news is recent nor was it posted like a day before the expected release. You have had PLENTY of time to realize that you wouldn't be getting your box until at least mid-late January, which is their expected release date, but it may be pushed back again.

SV has been very good about posting information. It sounds like you expected an in-person phone call with someone very kindly telling you that the release date was pushed back. I don't know what kind of world you live in, but that's not the way things work. It doesn't even work that way if you pre-order from a commercial outlet. When a release date is pushed back it's up to YOU, the consumer, to know that information.

If you were really as interested in MO as you're claiming then you wouldn't be coming here with some BS sob story about how you haven't gotten your box yet.

    THIS

Just because I'm bored - Neither of you have any idea what you're talking about.

It was made VERY clear that the game MAY release in q4 of 2009 and it was also made VERY clear that there would be no refunds. I know, I went to the store to check it out and it took me all of five seconds to see the bolded 'no refunds'. I decided it would be better to not pay full price for a game I'm unsure of. I couldn't care less if the game gets pushed back and I've paid full price, BUT I'm sure of it....however, as I said, this wasn't the case with MO.

And if you want to call SV unprofessional for pushing back their release date then you have to call almost every game dev out their unprofessional. There are literally HUNDREDS of identical instances to what is happening here.

    For example:

Starcraft 2 has been pushed back a number of times. The last time it was pushed back pre-orders were taken before it was. A number of those were, at the time, a full pre-purchase of the game. People aren't complaining about no refunds.

I had recently pre-ordered a game through gamestop and the release date was pushed back. I didn't complain, it happens.

Diablo 3 has been pushed back a number of times. COD 4 - MW2 was pushed back before it released. The vaunted WoW was pushed back before it released. Global Agenda has been pushed back I believe twice. WAR was pushed back and should have been pushed back more. AoC was pushed back and a number of digital pre-purchases were done with that, giving no refunds. DF did the same thing. Aion did the same thing with their pre-orders, no refunds at all. In fact most video games these days when you pre-order you pay the full price and you cannot get a refund. This is being done because many people were pre-ordering things to get pre-order benefits then just canceling the pre-order. It is a much bigger isssue having to do with a lot of really boring accounting stuff than it may seem.

Any time anybody ANYWHERE pre-orders a DIGITAL copy of a game they are, in fact, pre-PURCHASING the game and cannot get a refund if the game is pushed back. All release dates in this industry are subject to change and there is not a DAMN thing we as consumers can do about it. However, if you purchase a product and the company falls apart then you are entitled to a refund because you paid for a product you're never going to get.

I can easily go on, but I think I've proven my point.

You people really need to wise up about the way things work these days.

  • Just because I'm bored, I'm telling you that there is something like an edit button.

I would advise the OP to never pre-order.  Despite any kind of hype, no product is worth buying before it even exists.

Ahh you must be adrala's twin!  Just about everything you wrote is incorrect except of course that various games in the past have been delayed.. here's a cookie for creating a straw-man argument about something no one questions.

"Just because I'm bored" I figured I'd go pull a  refund/cancellation policy from a real company.  Since.. you spouted so much crap out of your rear I'll give you a moist towelet to help you clean up:

    Atari (ST Online)

    What is your refund policy?

    30 days for downloadable products.

    60 days for physical products.

How do I request a refund?

To obtain a refund for digital product(s) please click here.To obtain a refund for physical product(s) purchased online, you need to email Customer Service to request a refund

Read the part of your message which you were so kind as to BOLD.. read my response.  Crawl back into your cave.  Also, for the record.. I did not purchase a "DIGITAL" copy of the game.  I purchased (according to my receipt in front of me) a "DVD Box containing the game Mortal Online"

Thanks for playing though, please enjoy your parting gifts.

Yes.. just as their plans changed and they pushed the game back.. mine have changed and I would like to cancel my order.  This is obviously a company that doesn't stand by it's product so I want everyone to be aware of that before they order so they can avois the problems I have encountered.

Doesn't stand by their product? You say that because they delayed their game? You don't know much about MMO's do you?

No i say that because they won't refund money for a product that they have delayed and not delivered.  They have taken money for 6 months and not delivered a product.  They will not refund money so in effect they have taken it upon themselves to convert my "purchase" into an open ended loan which they will convert to a purchase whenever they want. See the difference?

Absolutely correct. Your reasoning on this makes perfect sense. Yes, you loaned them money without them informing you that it was, indeed, a loan. And in my opinion, this should be illegal and prosecutable by law. Unfortunately, it seems some game developers have no fucking character or integrity to speak of, and we seem to be at their mercy when we foolishly trust a developer just on the credentials that they're developing a game. Seriously. We know nothing about them, and yet we send them money and expect them to honor their word? The first time we do it....it's the developer's fault for being shady, imo....but after that first time....it's OUR fault for being so gullible.

If this is a warning against anything, then it's against dangers of drinking alcohol when pregnant. Ladies, you could cause long term brain damage to your unborn child.

If you think a slip of a month is the end of the world then you're either thick, completely new to computer/video games or are a troll. I suspect the latter.

The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

If you think this thread was about a one month delay in a game, you either didn't read it (likely) or fall into the top category in your quote above.

They also didn't charge for beta access -- they had an huge beta going without people paying an overpriced amount for a shoddy game.

The game is shaping up nicely too, I'm looking forward to trying it out. It's far from what MO or DF are trying to be, but I know what it's about, it's polished and well designed, and I'll throw some cash at them for that.

For those trying to file a claim with your credit card company be sure to explain that this is NOT a billing error.  My initial claim was denied for being >60 days.  I had to explain that I was filing a claim under my "Claims and Defenses Chargeback Rights" which has a limitation of one year.  Here is some GREAT info that helped me a lot:

    Claims and defenses

Covers claims submitted up to a year after purchase. The charge must still be unpaid on your credit card bill (carry a balance). This type of claim applies only to items or services of $50 or more that were purchased through a merchant less than 100 miles from home and within your state of residence. However, in most states, purchases made by phone, mail, or internet are eligible for claims and defenses claims.

    Protocol

Here are some tips for a successful chargeback claim:

Keep a paper trail. Save your receipts, ticket records, etc.

Avoid phone-only transactions (no paper trail).

Keep copies of any correspondence with the merchant.

Submit the claim within 60 days for maximum protection.

Send chargeback claims to the address indicated on the back of your monthly credit card statement.

    Process

Here is the general process to follow for each claim type. For more details, check the state-specific rules by visiting the website of the attorney general in your state. To do this, enter your state name and the search term "attorney general" into your preferred search engine.

For a claims and defenses claim

Before making a claim, you must try to negotiate a settlement with the merchant. Do this by letter, documented phone call, or cancellation notice.

Outline the eligiblity of your claim and include all documentation.
