Although I'm the idiot for actually paying $100 for a pre-order that only cost $75... for this POS game.
That appears to be the common assumption at this time but may change. The company is apparently still working on their response to the question.

Hmm... it's now Saturday in Sweden. Fully one week from when the Dev said there would be a Press Release in a day or two. Also.. a week has gone by since Maerlyn said he would get us an official statement "next week". The issue has actually been thrown around on the official forums for a month now.. without resolution.
Does anyone still think that SV didn't plan to charge all these people and have been spending the last few weeks scrambling for a way out?
Last time we called out Maerlyn on here (a week ago) he went into a posting flurry (9 in one day). Maybe this will spur additional communication. Now less than 2 weeks from the end of their latest updated, updated, updated, updated, updated release window. No sign of a patch to start testing on the beta servers. Wonder what's gonna happen?

We are a week+ delayed from a response, and still nothing.
And people still think there is no deception? Give me a break.
I think the more troubling issue is the steep dropoff in interest. I actually logged in last night to see what was going on. In 30 minutes or so I ran across a total of 5 people. Really not a good sign. Then when you go to the main forums you see another large drop in posters, threads and replies. Finally.. these forums went just under two whole days without a single post...
Yeah.. they are now 10 days from when they said they would have a response in a day or two and over a month from when the question was first asked and skirted by their CM and CS guys. If the interest level continues to drop I almost don't think it matters, they may not even make it to release if they have to delay again and since April ends next week and we haven't even started to test any changes on the test server.. it seems unlikely to launch.

Not surprisingly, Henrik posted an update today about the progress of the game in a few paragraphs, stating to "wait and see" basically, and he won't give any specific details out but there will be "new content". You know, basically saying nothing in particular.
The reason I bring it up is this -- there is a thread that has 300+ replies in it and that Maerlyn has brought up to Henrik, and he didn't comment on it yet. Amazing, eh?
While it is to be expected that interest wanes on MO from this forum, even on the official forums people are basically forgetting about it as well, with all time historic lows of posting activity, and a very blase attitude towards the whole thing nowadays. Whatever hype MO had is now gone, whatever benefit they got from having a dedicated fanboy base is waning, and when they launch, it's going to be a disaster. This unethical behavior is really just the cherry on top of a very disorganized and bad tasting dessert.

But, it seems fairly clear they are a bit out of touch.
Two full weeks now since we were told an announcement would be made "In a day or two..."
My gut tells me they will just announce the release of MO and put some blurb in about being able to manage your account but never quite addressing the issue and that's why the delay. They want to try and hide their response again and hope it gets overlooked in the publicity about release.

In my opinion it is the height of arrogance to say you are going to do something (update people) , not do it, and simply ignore repeated requests for info. My favorite response is from the Moderator who proposes that we haven't gotten a response from the company because "they don't know enough to answer the question with reliability". Yeah, they postponed the game 3 days from launch but never figured out who they were going to bill? After weeks of discussion they still don't know?

It will always activate in this way as you SET UP YOUR ACCOUNT..
ANd you guys that "PRE ORDERED" , my guess is that you sat up an account to be able to play the beta...
And until the game goes live and free 30 days has passed, If they charge you during this time , then this would be an issue, but now it's no diffrent than the rest of the game companies out there , the only diffrence is that Mortal online hasn't gone live yet...
But they have made sure their account managment page works as it should and that is a good thing IMO..

Well..I have already read most of the posts in this thread and I still fail to see the issues you guys have with this,just set the sub to "Do not renew"..WIch btw is the first time I have ever seen such an option in an account managment system, ususally you only have one option "cancel subscription" as a norm the company often let's you play the remaining days of your paid time, but I have encountered companies that cancels on the fly aswell, wich by me is wrong..You should atleast be able to play the remaining time you paid for...
The game isnt out yet, my guess they just made sure their account managment system is working as it should, even If the ganme releases tomorrow you still would have 30 days to reacyivate your account or cancel or whatevere..
In each game i have played and subscribed to they have a "auto renew feature" even Wizard 101 and Free realms that are aimed for kids have auto renew features for you subscription, so this is absolutly nothing new if you atleast subscribed to oen MMO before, and you ususally agree to this when setting up your account..

Summer 2009 SV opened up preorders for game.
People bought game.
MUCH LATER, the subscription page and billing options were set up SV integrated all of the credit card information to the billing server and set all the accounts of the people who preordered the game to AUTO-RENEW.
The customers who paid in summer 2009 never chose to set up a subscription model, never chose pay for a single month of game time. Worse, the people who decided to forget about the game will get a nice suprise on their bank statement.
If you can't see how this is unethical then I am speechless.

Imo you paid for one month, since that is what you got when ordering. You paid for the game and one month of game time, correct?

I paid through paypal and my paypal info shows no billing agreement with starvault...therefore they have no way to get a dime from me.
Ever since Dark & Light I havent subscribed to any mmo that doesnt accept paypal or sell prepaid gamecards.

The game isnt out yet, my guess they just made sure their account managment system is working as it should, even If the ganme releases tomorrow you still would have 30 days to reacyivate your account or cancel or whatevere..
In each game i have played and subscribed to they have a "auto renew feature" even Wizard 101 and Free realms that are aimed for kids have auto renew features for you subscription, so this is absolutly nothing new if you atleast subscribed to oen MMO before, and you ususally agree to this when setting up your account..
BRIEF RECAP:
Summer 2009 SV opened up preorders for game.
People bought game.
MUCH LATER, the subscription page and billing options were set up SV integrated all of the credit card information to the billing server and set all the accounts of the people who preordered the game to AUTO-RENEW.
The customers who paid in summer 2009 never chose to set up a subscription model, never chose pay for a single month of game time. Worse, the people who decided to forget about the game will get a nice suprise on their bank statement.
If you can't see how this is unethical then I am speechless.

So I went and checked their site and guess what? I was also set to auto renew. As others have said, I have long given up on this crap feast game and NEVER intended to ever return to their website. If it were not for people here I would not have known to turn auto renew OFF. And to think, SV still wants to screw all 50 of us that pre-ordered their crappy game!
Bad enough that from when I pre-ordered (Block A) I have been charged for this game 3 times already lol.
And THIS is exactly why I feel the need to highlight their behavior and practices.
