Well I draw logical conclusions after every new info I see.
I used to call it WoW in space, then realized theres no space (E3) so now it's WoW with lightsabers.
So I changed my mind you see?
Allthough to be fair one of the Bioware dudes did say that there MAYBE will be some space in some way or another meaning I might switch back to calling it WoW in space, we'll see.
I'm also glad that Bioware FINALY came out and admited exactly what many of us were suspecting for months, WoW clone.
WoW kiddies are cheering now, good for them.
People should describe actual features and then critizise them and not make comparision critique.
I totally agree, you should tell that to the Bioware dude that was comparing feature after feature with WoW, at some point he used the phrase "exactly like wow".
Amazing stuff.
I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.
Isn't it unfair to critisize this game for not being something that it was never trying to be? This game was never trying to be Ultima Online or SWG. I can understand you being dissapointed back when there was little to no information on the game, but now it seems like everyone knows what type of game this will be, and yet many still persist in acting like they've been lied to or betrayed in some manner. I don't have a problem with people criticizing the game, but I just don't understand the expectations you guys dreamed up. What did the developers say that made you think that this would be another class-less utopia? What did the initial interviews and videos do to make you expect the sweeping revitalization of the sandbox model?
I can answer that for you. Nothing.
This game is being touted by people, official or not, as the best thing to occur for the genre, despite BioWare telling no real susbstance about the game. Just pretty trailers not showing real meat in gameplay. And a gorgeous CG trailer that doesn't utilize the game engine, the "Hope" trailer.
Most of all, BioWare is reaching for one's money. That alone opens them and their product up for criticism.
The game is coming out Spring '11 (correct me if I'm wrong), so they have roughly just under a year left before going live. Yet they've given very, very little to go by. It's like they're banking on the BioWare and Star Wars name to do their work.
Sorry, my days of Blind Faith are long gone. Things have to be scrutinized before I drop down hard earned money.
"I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." I could compare any game on the market right now to WoW, even Darkfall, Fallen Earth, or Guild Wars, and most companies use it as a base starting point for comparison because its whats most popular and what people know. I think you should link where they said anything was "exactly like world of warcraft" because I haven't read that. Yup, thats calling you out.
I could easily sit here and tell you the similarities between a kia and a ferrari, you'd be surprised how similar they are if all you know is a kia and they're trying to explain it to you so you can understand it.
Unfortunately then theres people like you who only understand WoW and not the words similar, or like, or the use of context. I suppose the intelligence of those reading the interviews is BioWares true enemy.

Some people who only hear what they want to hear, wheras others will listen to every word and take what is said at face value and not jump to wild conclusions.
Fanbois can try to spin things forever they are not fooling anyone.
Up until yesterday the defence was "We dont know yet", now that we know.. from Bioware officials... butthurt fans trying to spin things in their favor (they went as far as defending WoW lol?) when deep down they also know that SWTOR is taking the genre back 6 years instead of progressing it.
Same as AION.
AION is still popular, many play it, but it's still a snoozefest of a game, you have to pay me some hard cash in order to play it.
Bioware dissapoints in every way with SWTOR, they should just stick to SPRPGs, they are good at that.

No sorry, you gonna have to do some research yourself, it's linked at least 5 times on teh first and second page.
Try to learn more about teh game you blindly defend so much heh.
No, you didn't. Link it again and quote it specifically. This is called, calling you out, and all you can say is "do it yourself" if this is a point you're trying to prove you are failing. Miserably. When we say something is the way it is, we "fanboys" link our articles, when you say they said something is exactly like World of Warcraft, you better be able to back up those statements.
im still not convinced its actually bioware making this game. it just seems so bad. most boring mmo gameplay ive seen, really clunky and poor animations, atrocious 1998ish graphics. is this just a big joke or are they just planning on making the biggest mmo blunder in history?

He might have been talking about this one, but I'm not sure. Vogel says "It will be very similar to what WoW has" in the paragraph about crafting.
What he said:
"at some point he used the phrase "exactly like wow""
What the article says in that instance:
" It will not be to the extent of some of the games out there, like [Star Wars] Galaxies. It will be very similar to what WoW has. But it has some really cool twists that WoW doesn't have that I think people will like."

I'm not trying to prove anything, I linked it yesterday 100 times I dont give a fck what you or rest of you blind fanbois think or do.
I'm stating simple facts that Bioware instead of taking the opportuinity of having unlimited funds and talent to progress the genre finaly, they opted for WoW with lightsabers, this was pretty clear months ago but at E3 finally confirmed.
That's what pissing me off, MMORPGs has been fcked since WoW release, the genre has been stagnating because3 of it and now Bioware is taking it back to 2005, ridiculous.

You win maskedweasel... SWTOR is not a WoW Clone.... i found the proof:
James Ohlen, Lead Designer on Battlegrounds:
"As to the scale of the battles, like how many characters are going to be involved? Right now we're experimenting with different group sizes. We're experimenting with 4 vs. 4, 8 vs. 8 and what we end up with at the end is really going to be dependent on how playtesting goes and how it all works out. It is not set in stone yet."
4v4... 8v8... that's even worse than WoW so definately not a WoW Clone. MMO... Miniscule Multiplayer Online?
At this rate TOR won't even be online when it reaches launch.
Oh wait... he said it's not set in stone yet... ah my bad... i guess it's going to be like 200 v 200 when it launches they probably started experimenting with 1 v 1 and 2 v 2 and working their way up.

ITS A WOW CLOOOOOONE!!! Burn it now before it infects the rest of the MMO industry with its noobness!!!
Look, most of us know it was always going to be WoW with lightsabers, and even the Bioware admits it.
Only blind fanbois seem to have a problm with it, just admit it and enjoy playing with 12 year old siths running aroind heh it will be great, have fun, no need to try to make the game look like there is any depth or inovation in it... BIOWARE ADMITED it's a wow clone, live with it..

You've been called out, and found to be talking crap. Admit you're wrong and leave the thread. lol. Or are you not mature enough to do that? eh? Kiddo?

They must have shitty graphics, 5 paragrah quest text, and guess now, no players under the age of what?? 25?? In order to be considered "Good".. Oh let's not forget, a poor UI, and.. no lore what so every right?? Heck, after all, anything other than your imagination is too much right.. Stories aren't needed in MMO's you'll make your own as you go right??
I remember somebody complaining because they wouldn't be able to recreate their wookie hairdresser they had in Galaxies.. Yeah, that just REAKS of Star Wars lore.. /eyeroll
Boy.. I'm sure glad I hold my games up to higher standards.

Having 4 v 4 battlegrounds is definately something the genre has never seen before.
Even if you add both sides it's still a single digit number for total players int he battleground.... now that's something you don't see you in your everyday WoW Clone.
But don't worry before Ohlen stated the actual group numbers they were experimenting with he stated this:
"Because every single person has his own companion character, they do get pretty hectic. If you have an entire party against another entire party, it is almost double the number of characters because of all the companion characters running around. The way it feels it feels like a pretty massive battle because you have so many effects going off."
