Again, Bioware should hurry the fck up and release their wow clone already because GW2 will burry it.
Just go take a look at any GW2 site including this one and find me negative threads about it.
You wont find any.
Why is that?
How come none is hating on GW2?
New decade, time for new ideas, features, systems, graphics, time to move the genre forward, to lift it up from the hole WoW burried it in, and GW2 will do it.
Bioware will just be remembered as a generic MMO maker, their SPRPGs will still rock, I will play ME3 for sure, I will preorder it actually but... as MMO developers they are failures.
I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.
Isn't it unfair to critisize this game for not being something that it was never trying to be? This game was never trying to be Ultima Online or SWG.
But its really okay for criticizing it for being a WoW and WAR Clone, right? Bioware has often and most recently elluded to their emulation development path by referencing core-design features (aside from story) with regrad to both games and most recently mentioned that their massively multiplayer approach to community-centric player interaction around dark vs light, cooperatice and competitive pvp will be similar to WAR and WoW battlegrounds.

It's that kind of behaviour that I also see some others show that I just don't get: alright, someone has 1,2 MMO games someone really, really loves, fine, nothing wrong with it. But why keep posting in the forumsection of a game you hate or heartily dislike, or that your bias won't ever allow you to like in even the slightest?
The only motives I can think of is a desire to gloat, troll, or because someone enjoys trashtalking a game and ridicule and belittle people who do like it.
I still don't get it, and I suspect some people of getting off on trolling and trashing.
But on the other hand, doesn't matter: people who're that biased about the game and about how 'fail' Bioware is doing things with ToR will keep that bias no matter what and will certainly not play ToR. And the people who will play ToR will be bothered by less of that kind of biased, ToR-hating people ingame.

Yawn, you get 3.0 for that attempt. But only because you spent the time typing that drivel lol. Seriously, you're gunna have to do better than that. lol.
Btw, isn't it true that GW2 wasn't at E3 this year? Wonder why? hmmmm.

I'd take battlegrounds over Asian designers trying to draw spindly westernised avatars any day.
All that "huh!!! ha!!! eeeee!!!!!" and bloody stupid graphics trails on every sword swing makes me want to hurl. And lets not forget the stupid arcadey "schwwinnnnnggg!!" sounds you get whenever something drops or you pick something up.

E3 – First, let’s get one of the most-asked questions out of the way. We are NOT going to be on the floor at E3. We really have mixed feelings about E3. On the one hand it can be a great centralized way to meet press and retailers. On the other hand, it’s anti-fan. As the marketing guy, if I’m going to spend a boatload of money on a booth, videos, props, etc., I want to be able to share it with the folks who’ll geek-out on it the most – the fans! IMO, E3 could steal a page from gamescom, which is a combination of a civilized business/industry area and a showy exhibit hall that’s open to consumers. If they did that, E3 would be a no-brainer in my book.
this is why...
ANet showed E3 their middle finger..wait for PAX to see the hype level of GW2 rise to crazy heights
while Tors steadily falling down;)
the "I told you so" day for Tor will be so sweet (I already settled myself with broken dreams for Tor so I am not sad anymore)
I think I actually spent way more time reading and theorycrafting about MMOs than playing them
Bioware will just be remembered as a generic MMO maker, their SPRPGs will still rock, I will play ME3 for sure, I will preorder it actually but... as MMO developers they are failures.

No one has played any of Bioware's MMOs because they have not made any. Bioware is known as one of the premier SRPG makers ever. The list of successful titles is huge. Many of my personal favorites of all time are from Bioware (Baldur's Gate, Knights of the Old Republic, Mass effect, Dragon Age, Jade Empire, etc). Still this not mean that their MMO will be great, but I will try the game out. I actually like the story telling focus.
Now, I was disappointed by the appearence of the trinity (the consular was doing little more than healing). I will post that I do not like the trinity and would prefer if there were to reduce dependency upon that particular concept.
And you know this from playing how many of their previous MMO titles??

That is a reasonable stance, true.
But you should know by now that reason and sense don't rule that often here on these forums. It's because those are annoying hindrances to indulging in trolling, flaming and hating a game for some people.

You see Ben? Some people actually think reserving judgement for when they have ALL the facts is better than jumping to false conclusions based on little fact. Maybe you should actually listen to Nyt rather than just lash out at people
But of course, you're too "all knowledge" and mature to do that aren't you. lol
I think the hardest thing is to be on the fence about a game like this. It is at once both instantly familiar and yet with a theme/IP that hasn't yet had its day in the sun. And it's that familiarity, and what it means for the genre in the context of a $150 million MMO, that drives the schism that dominates nearly every single SW:TOR thread.
It is very difficult for me to get excited about SW:TOR. But it is equally difficult to generate the intense introspection that fuels some of the (valid) criticisms. Yes, there are things that make me uneasy: the graphics, the animations, exactly how open a world it might be, the PvP instancing vs. Open World PvP, etc. I have genuine concerns over these issues. Some of which they've talked about, and some of which they haven't. No one should be crucified for voicing these concerns. No one.
There are also things that are potentially interesting to me: the storyline, the ships-as-houses was a nice touch, I thought, the landscapes seem well rendered, the range of races seem to be increasing. Some people celebrate these possibilities, and, again, no one should be crucified for giving voice to these interests.
It's good to hold the dev's feet to the fire. It is also good to draw inspiration from the anticipation of what those same devs have created and/or demonstrated. The two feelings can co-exist. While it's fun to watch on the sidelines and watch Group A lambast Group B, who the returns the favor with tenfold rancor, it's hard to pick a side when all I can do for now, with the current level of information given, is sit on that damn fence.
Having 4 v 4 battlegrounds is definately something the genre has never seen before.
Even if you add both sides it's still a single digit number for total players int he battleground.... now that's something you don't see you in your everyday WoW Clone.
But don't worry before Ohlen stated the actual group numbers they were experimenting with he stated this:
"Because every single person has his own companion character, they do get pretty hectic. If you have an entire party against another entire party, it is almost double the number of characters because of all the companion characters running around. The way it feels it feels like a pretty massive battle because you have so many effects going off."
I'm all for TOR myself and I don't mind more intimate PvP settings. it has been done before, City of Heroes being the top reply off the top of my head.
Because I'm sure we're going to have some large open PvP areas since in a lot of games it's gained popularity over the recent years.
I'm not worried that TOR's going to be a MMORPG. I like that it is.
What I don't get are people who are familiar with the genre before a game launches, always asiling MMOs for being MMOs. 90% of their 'fixes' for what would make 'any major MMO release' awesome are in single player games they could play online for free after just buying it.
I think SW is going to offer what people expect from the genre, what they expect from Star Wars, what they expect from BioWare. If people were standing around to be shocked and amazed.. Then they should go to a Chris Angel Mind Freak show and quit hate-trolling forums.
"I know what a MMO is! I know god damn it!"
"Okay."
"This is going to be a MMO with lightsabers, noob been done before."
"Yeah. It has."
"I'm not going to play!"
"Good, but why do you have to continue to bitch about it?"
I kill other players because they're smarter than AI, sometimes.
