Its part of the way the hype works, you know a game is popular when people take the time and go out of their way to hate it. Whether its seen as a threat to a players playstyle or a threat to a game they are interested in, the only way to go about it is to attack it and those that like the game.
Thats what this entire forum is used for. Look at that game list and all the games in development. In all those games, which one is constantly being talked about, attacked, bashed, and trolled over all the other games out there? Its SWTOR.
People don't troll the other games simply because no one care enough about them to do so. They aren't seen as a threat to anyone. Plenty of games on that list won't even be played by half the people posting here, but you don't see them complaining about THOSE games. Just this one.
Dude, you keep spewing the same conspiracy theory nonesense.
When a game sucks, people let you know about it, thats all there is to it.
Try answering me the question i asked earlier.
Why there is no hate what-so-ever towards GW2?
How do you explain that?
GW2 will rock, after doing some research on the game it's as obvious as it is obvious how SWTOR will suck as a MMORPG that is pretending to be.)
You obviously haven't done much research on the game because Guild Wars 2 is doing a lot of what Star Wars TOR is doing, much of it to a lesser extent. 5 vs 5 gameplay. "dynamic" events that are programmed to be cyclical and not dynamic at all. Static combat skills just like the first guild wars. They even had it on their list originally to give every player a single companion character. They also have instanced maps like Champions Online so they can throttle the people in any particular area. The classes so far are all the same as the first one.
Yeah, sounds like something "innovative" to me. No one complains about the game because theres no use in it. Guild Wars isn't a threat to any game on the market. Its a single player game. You buy the box and play it for a little bit... then continue to sub to a real MMO.
You didnt read anything on it did you
I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.

On the contrary, would you like me to post links? I've got them all handy, I've done more than my fair share of research on GW2, as I will be buying that game too. Its obvious you know very little about what that game offers if you think anything I've said is nothing but the truth directly from the developers.
GW2 will rock, after doing some research on the game it's as obvious as it is obvious how SWTOR will suck as a MMORPG that is pretending to be.)
You sir, are a Fanboi. Ironic eh?
I'm a fan of GW2 yes.
First time after Everquest I can say I like what I see from the company...so far.
I'm not a blind fanboi like SWTOR nerds though, thinking SWTOR will be the second coming of christ when in fact is nothing but just another generic limonade "MMO".
And that's a shame, the wasted money and talent....sad.
Lol, your hypocracy is side splitting. You call people blind fanbois, and yet you yourself think "GW2 will rock, after doing some research on the game it's as obvious....". Based on what evidence have you formed that conclusion? The fact that they turned away from a major media event because they felt it was "anti fan"? Please. Give me a break.
Now, would you do me the honours and point out exactly who in this thread is "thinking SWTOR will be the second coming of christ"?
Because unless my memory is getting worse, no one has said that or even implied that. Especially in THIS thread.
As the OP said, some critisism seems ridiculous. And you've proven his point.
Seriously though, you have to admit that is a face for radio. That poster child for rabbit/superman villain hybrids is just freaky.
Yeah it is. It takes on even more grotesque proportions if you imagine the Lex Luthor in his green and purple battlesuit, as shown on the latest DCUO trailer. Man, I'm on these forums way too much!
Lol, your hypocracy is side splitting. You call people blind fanbois, and yet you yourself think "GW2 will rock, after doing some research on the game it's as obvious....". Based on what evidence have you formed that conclusion?
Based on my gaming experience since the 80's.
That's more then enough for me.
I'm yet to be wrong about any MMO pre launch.
After launch I'm close, not very precise, I didnt expect AoC to die so fast and STO to fail so hard but the writing was on the wall.
I'm a MMO gamer, I care about the genre.
I dont care much about SP games, I've only played handfull of them in the last 5 years (including ME series)
Bioware single player RPGs are great.
SWTOR is a WoW clone with lightsabers.
Anything else?
I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.
I dont understand why SWTOR fans get so upset when I call their precious game WoW with lightsabers?
Isnt that a good thing?
Means it will have millions of players?
Why upset?
I wont play it, I dont play games made for children, I'll keep looking for something more mature and with more depth, something more complicated that will keep me busy, I dont like Ez-mode games, thats all.
When I say SWTOR is made for kids and according to bioware devs the core features are very simmilar to WoW I'm talking facts, it's very easy to come to that conclusion, just deal with it and enjoy it.
Look at "WoW with lightsabers"as a compliment, why not, most of you blind fand are interpreting everything as you want it to be so why not my statement?
Repeat after me:
WoW with lightsabers!
WoW with lightsabers!
I for one, am not upset about any of that. The most upsetting thing is how you come in here throwing crap at one game in order to try to elevate another. That's not the way to do things. I'm pretty sure all the civilized people in these forums know that if they enjoy one thing more than the other they stick with that one thing and don't pursue trash-talking another. Don't just listen to these words, learn from them. Be civilized, you're not doing the people who prefer GW2 any justice.
You can link the official site heh, that should do it.
Anyone interested in something new can read it and make up his own mind.
Why would I waste my time linking the official site? I have plenty of developer blogs and interviews with the developers that say exactly the points I was making on GW2. Similar to you, I am very excited to what Guild Wars 2 has to offer, but I'm a realist. I never said SWTOR will be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but it won't be a standard, boring WoW clone either.
GW2 will be fun comparatively to other MMOs, but when you read through their blogs and interviews, you see a lot of buzz words that get pulled apart by the reality of how they are implementing the gameplay. Yes they have to instance their maps and throttle the amount of players. Yes, they have cut down on the amount of skills in the game. Yes the classes released so far are the same as the original. Yes the animations will be recurring for each skill. Yes there will be an instanced story. Yes there will be 5v5 gameplay. Yes their "dynamic" events are pass/fail and cyclical.
That all still sounds fine to me. I know what that game offers and I'm still going to buy it. I know what SWTOR offers and I will buy and play that too. Since I know what both games offer and what hasn't been confirmed, I know when someone is just spouting nonsense.

You just noticed that?
I can smell shills miles away hehe.
Anyway, I dont want to hype GW2 in SWTOR section, well, it's not needed at all actually, it speaks for itself but since nobody did it here's the offical link, it's all there:
Irony... Please go look up that word. I'll give you a hint on the meaning. Look what you just did here. And will come with fans playable demo at PAX.

All clear now though, go go WoW with lightsabers confirmed.
ROFL. Stop it please. My sides are hurting too much because of the irony of this and your hypocrisy. I'm beginning to wonder if you actually work for the GW2 devs lol. You're really starting to sound pathetic.

Don't go around spouting crap about games you know nothing about, you'll look like a complete moron. If you disagree with someone state why with evidence to back up your views and try to never out right degrade someone else's opinion as hard as that can be.

I was going to say something about it, but didn't have the heart. His post speaks volumes.
Isn't it unfair to critisize this game for not being something that it was never trying to be? This game was never trying to be Ultima Online or SWG. I can understand you being dissapointed back when there was little to no information on the game, but now it seems like everyone knows what type of game this will be, and yet many still persist in acting like they've been lied to or betrayed in some manner. I don't have a problem with people criticizing the game, but I just don't understand the expectations you guys dreamed up. What did the developers say that made you think that this would be another class-less utopia? What did the initial interviews and videos do to make you expect the sweeping revitalization of the sandbox model?
I can answer that for you. Nothing.
Finally someone that is willing to look at the game as it self and not comparing it to WoW or UO...
everyone is like oh its so WoW like... but when WoW is all you know you can't judge shit. WoW paved the way for the modern MMO so yes. most MMO's will be like EVERY OTHER ONE OUT THERE.. but they don't have Light Sabers

Dude, it was BIOWARE EXECUTIVE PRODUCER that was comparing every feature to WoW, he couldnt stop yapping about how similar SWTOR will be to WoW.
In mean time, tarka will continue embarrassing himself with silly atempts to bash GW2 hehe, please dont stop tarka, you are slowly becoming my favorite poster.
He does seem more rational than you, I'll give him that.
Of course you will, you said it yourself you are in the SWTOR camp.
did you just make a war like comparison? arent we all MMOgamers?
Apperantly not because SWTOR is anything but a MMO.
First its "exactly like WoW" and a "WoW Clone" and now its anything but an MMO. You are a silly one friend.
AI Companions, 8 v 8 battlegrounds, Instanced Story... etc etc
The words Massive and Multiplayer just don't do it enough justice...
It's kinda funny that you and Benjola keep refering that TOR is a WOW clone, when in fact the things you just mentioned make it differant than WOW or any other game, while still being able from what the devs have said and from people that have actually played it feel like a very good themepark/sandbox hybrid. I think the words were, it doesn't feel like WOW or SWG or any in between, feels like it's own game.
You guys keep going on about GW2 and how great it is when in fact it shares alot of the same game concepts that TOR has.
let's see,
TOR - personal story no loading screen / GW2- personal story loading screen not sure
TOR- open world pvp and instanced warzones / GW2- the mist and instanced arena
TOR- massive open world planets zoned with no loading screen / GW2- massive open world zoned not sure
TOR- player ship housing / GW2- player housing
TOR-8 classes / GW2- 8 classes
TOR- crafting, similar to most, not indepth like SWG but with some new twists / GW2 - not sure
TOR- talent trees w/advanced classes / GW2- talent trees/traits
So, even with just this liitle bit of factional information as it is today, TOR and GW2 is not very differant other than one is high fantasy and the other is sci fi fantasy. So to come here on the TOR forum and try and make like one game will be superior than the other from a standpoint of what systems are in or not in is pointless.
It seems to me that both Bioware and ArenaNet have taken concepts from some of the more popular games and made advances to them, which is really progression and innovation for the genre.
On the other hand, I will break my promise right now.
I WILL rub it in all your faces when SWTOR fails, it´s only fair.
All of you will need to promise to come back here though, I will make a thread about a month after launch.
What are you? Eight years old? Seriously? Come on, surely somewhere in the back of your mind you were thinking this was a childish post. There's no doubt that a person like you would rub something like that in someone's face. No common decency, no values and outright rude. I don't know why you want to see this game fail, you think if this game fails that more people will flock to GW2, is that it?
My definition of failure for a game is if it fails to entertain me, from what I'm seeing about TOR, it won't fail me. I really don't want to see any game fail anyone by the term that I gave. Everyone should have the right to have a game they enjoy, but I also believe that if you don't enjoy something you just say your peace and then leave. Do that, please.

Ah, it's you. The instigator but never the proof bringer, who's opinions are always above others. Sounds about right for a new bible.

Top 10 Most Misused Words in MMO's
SW:TOR doesn't need to fail to 'rub it in their faces'. It only needs to be 'just another game'. Which it will be.
