Bioware will just be remembered as a generic MMO maker, their SPRPGs will still rock, I will play ME3 for sure, I will preorder it actually but... as MMO developers they are failures.
And you know this from playing how many of their previous MMO titles??
I'll make the intelligent move, and reserve judgment until I actually get to play the release version of the game, at home.
Yeah, droping 50 bucks blindly is the most intelegent move yep, the suckers that purchased STO lifetime subs are geniuses amiright?
Companies are after those money you are going to spend in order to judge their game , first and foremost.
You are beyond help it seems heh.
STO's lifetime sub was only $50.. damn even for a bad game that's a good deal.
And I'm sure the people who purchased STO for $50, did the free month and didn't like it... wait for it.. wait for it... DIDN'T SUBSCRIBE... what a concept. After all, subs are what keeps MMO's going, not box sales, look at Warhammer.
Guess you only buy games that you know you will like before ever playing them. Good for you!
And it isn't a blind drop of $50.. So far, I like what I've read and seen about the game, sorry you don't.
"If I'd asked my customers what they wanted, they'd have said a faster horse." - Henry Ford
Funny how much controversy is kicked up over basically nothing. I love the people making assumptions on how the game will fail without a single second of playing time. You can see it the way you want, I don't care. What you shouldn't do though is going around making stupid posts about stuff you know next to nothing about. Maybe if you got your heads out your behinds you could go and read and watch the videos and actually keep up with the information that is coming out instead of making assumptions, some so baseless that all they sound like is mutterings of mad men.
Please, for the love of all that is decent, don't tell people to use logic when you yourself aren't showing any hints of it. You can sit here all day babbling about how something is without even knowing the least what you are talking about. It was said that the crafting system would be similar to WoW, however it would have twists in it that make it different. As far as I know if you modify something to make it your own, it's not a clone. Similar, not clone. Another thing, in terms of the "battlegrounds", why not take something that works? Innovation can go the other way, don't you know? Bioware is showing logical moves, they can test different waters when they ACTUALLY RELEASE THE GAME. It's not all over when it's released, there is still updates and changes that can be made.
So stop your end-of-days jibberish and if you are going to spout something, spout things that are for certain and not just works of fiction.
Bioware will just be remembered as a generic MMO maker, their SPRPGs will still rock, I will play ME3 for sure, I will preorder it actually but... as MMO developers they are failures.

You see Ben? Some people actually think reserving judgement for when they have ALL the facts is better than jumping to false conclusions based on little fact. Maybe you should actually listen to Nyt rather than just lash out at people
But of course, you're too "all knowledge" and mature to do that aren't you. lol
So where exactly is the FACT part of your arguments?
We have gameplay vids, Daniel Erikson Interviews, James Ohlen Interviews.
The only factual part of your argumentation thus far has been... "it's not out yet!" Yup true... that's definately fact!
FFS, you don't even have to wait for release .... just wait till its closer to relase to find out all the facts. I don't think there is a major mmo that has come out int he past 6 years that I havent been able to at least beta test, stress test or trial before It was released. All teh while people are b itching , whining and moaning about what the game is or isnt for 2 years before It gets released ..........
And you know this from playing how many of their previous MMO titles??
I'll make the intelligent move, and reserve judgment until I actually get to play the release version of the game, at home.
If you wanna get your panties in a bunch over.. well... nothing.. I guess nobody's gonna stop you, sure is funny as hell to watch though.
This.
Wait for game to release, play game, critique game.
That is a reasonable stance, true.
But you should know by now that reason and sense don't rule that often here on these forums. It's because those are annoying hindrances to indulging in trolling, flaming and hating a game for some people.
But kudos for the advice
No no no that's anything but a reasonable stance.
Dont be suckers people.
Did every MMO released in the last 5 years never tought you anything?
Wait for release, play game is what every developer wants you to do, the whole hype and money spend on comercials is aimed at getting those 50 bucks out of you WITHOUT having a clear picture about their game.
How can all of you be so naive?
How many hundreds of dolars have you people been spending on fail MMOs so far?
I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.
That aside, expect nothing, and you'll never be disappointed. This is a stance I've had to adopt as of late. I've been to the point where I had a great many expectations for a game, so much so I tricked myself into seeing only what I wanted the game to be and not what it actually was. That made me realize what a tool I was being and so I stepped back to re-evaluate my stance on games.
Does SW: TOR look cool? Yeah. Do I expect them to live up to any expectations? No. I will let Bioware stand on their own merit and reserve my judgements until after the game has been out for a few years. From what I have experienced, MMOs need time to mature, so time is what I'll give it.
Yawn, you get 3.0 for that attempt. But only because you spent the time typing that drivel lol. Seriously, you're gunna have to do better than that. lol.
Btw, isn't it true that GW2 wasn't at E3 this year? Wonder why? hmmmm.
E3 – First, let’s get one of the most-asked questions out of the way. We are NOT going to be on the floor at E3. We really have mixed feelings about E3. On the one hand it can be a great centralized way to meet press and retailers. On the other hand, it’s anti-fan. As the marketing guy, if I’m going to spend a boatload of money on a booth, videos, props, etc., I want to be able to share it with the folks who’ll geek-out on it the most – the fans! IMO, E3 could steal a page from gamescom, which is a combination of a civilized business/industry area and a showy exhibit hall that’s open to consumers. If they did that, E3 would be a no-brainer in my book.
this is why...
ANet showed E3 their middle finger..wait for PAX to see the hype level of GW2 rise to crazy heights
while Tors steadily falling down;)
the "I told you so" day for Tor will be so sweet (I already settled myself with broken dreams for Tor so I am not sad anymore)
You know what? Lets play devils advocate for a moment and turn the tables here. So YOU believe all that claptrap from the GW2 marketing and devs guys about how E3 is all "anti fan" and therefore they didn't want to attend E3 for that reason?
ROFL. Oh please stop, now my sides are hurting here. That response is complete and utter BS. And if you truely believe them then you're as blinded as you claim others are.
No company turns their back on ANY conference if it means they can showcase their product. Especially to the media. They'd only turn their back on it if the product wasn't in fact ready to be shown in ANY form.
And lets face it, GW2 is a Final Fantasy Clone....see what I did there?
ROFL. The hypocracy of some people just cracks me up.
Sorry, but that's like saying "I am rubber, you are glue". Very poor attempt there. lol.
Oh btw, before you start calling other games "WoW Clones" perhaps you should remove your rose tinted glasses and see GW2 for what it REALLY is.......Warriors? Elementalists?? hahahahaa. Yeah, I can certainly see the "innovation" there.
Nevermind though, just remember that you've still got your "innovative" overgrown fetus's as a playable race.
HAHAHA.
Made me smile
You really didnt read about the game..you just saw names..well nice try

Yeah we'll see, Guild Wars 2 will once again be instanced, they're following the same path TOR is with story (just to a much lesser extent though still utilizing instances but less choices) and they have shortened the amount of skills that you are able to use and that are in the game. Not to mention they use the buzz word Dynamic, when they then turn around and say the game has a pass/fail mechanic in a cyclical fashion. Thats not dynamic.
The only reason you don't hear me complain about the game is because I plan on playing it. Its a buy to play game, which is great because the subs wouldn't last for more than a couple months. GW is like buying a Single Player Game, and thats how they count their revenue too. 6 Million copies sold isn't 6 million players, its 6 million of all campaigns and expansions sold.
Yawn, you get 3.0 for that attempt. But only because you spent the time typing that drivel lol. Seriously, you're gunna have to do better than that. lol.

Dont bother reading the details because after all, what's the point? You've already made your mind up that its a Clone of a previous game already.
Make fun of any interesting features, claiming that they are superfiscial and therefore the same as in other games. Also, don't forget to over emphasise any points that you hate about the product, no matter how small they are.
Try to use the terms "Clone" and "innovative" in every post you write. Saying such things like "we" (inferring that you speak for a majority) need something new and different, and how all "we" are getting is the same regurgitated tripe.
Don't forget to infer that anyone who's opinion is balanced is in actual fact, a "fanboi"
Isn't that how it goes?
@Benjola: Keep trying "kido". You won't win. But it'll still give me a chuckle as you try.
You know, I really can't wait to try out the FF14 Clone, I mean GW2, and look like the bastard love child of Lex Luthor and the Energiser Bunny, whilst role playing a typical class found in many MMOs. How exciting and dare I say it....innovative THAT will be!!!

Ok, and I promise not to lol or say "I told you so" when SWTOR fails and when becomes appearent to everyone what a snoozefest of a game it is.
I didnt do it with AION fanbois nor did I do it with STO lifetime suckers.
Well, I wont be able to even if i wanted tbh, after their game fails fanbois dont show at forums anymore for some reason.

It's good to hold the dev's feet to the fire. It is also good to draw inspiration from the anticipation of what those same devs have created and/or demonstrated. The two feelings can co-exist. While it's fun to watch on the sidelines and watch Group A lambast Group B, who the returns the favor with tenfold rancor, it's hard to pick a side when all I can do for now, with the current level of information given, is sit on that damn fence.
Nothing wrong with the fence. It's cosy and comfy, plus it gives a great view on all the uproar and ruckus taking place.
The ease with which predictions are made on these forums: Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."
Personally, I'm not looking to TOR to provide me with some genre-changing experience. I'll be playing to experience some solid lore, reasonable combat, and a side of lightsaber ho-slapping. Maybe it will put a little more RPG in MMORPG- that's different enough for me.
The MMO experience is so 'bleh' nowadays for my tastes, I'll gladly sink some time into this.
Admittedly, comparisons to WoW was kind of a thoughtless thing for a company to do to its own game, but I'll reckon if this game gives me 1 ounce of fun in the genre, I'll finally be at 1 ounce of fun.

I'll completely play SW:TOR if I can join a guild called Lightsaber Ho-Slappers.
The best solution would be for developers to give a week long free trial after launch so people can make up their minds.
No need for open beta, just put your money where your hype mouth is and show me your awesome game...
Of course no company is that brave, even they dont believe in their games THAT much.
