Damn, you casual players really piss me off. A company creates a game with a certain level of difficulty wherein it takes a certain amount of time to achieve endgame and survive. Some players who put the time in, achieve that, but in order to reward them the developers dumb down and 'stupidify' the game so that you casuals don't have to 'grind'. How is that fair to those original players who spend far more time to achieve that same effect? Simple, it isn't. So the game may have more subscribers, but in the end the game's community goes to hell. Eight million kiddies running around spewing leetspeek is no substitute for three hundred thousand compitent and mature players.
This is almost the exact same scenario that occured in SWG when the players who put in the time to complete the hologrind for Jedi, were rewarded with newer players being able to complete the same thing far easier via the Village, or 'instantly' in the NGE. All because, someone was obsessed with the being a 'hero'. Whaa! I want my glowstick NOW!
I hate grind, but I do respect someone who put the time in to become the best. I can't speak for pvp, because I neither participate in it, nor enjoy it. So I won't go there. But I will say that if you suck at pvp, that isn't the games fault. Maybe you should spend a bit more time playing the game and not quite so much on facebook telling people what you ate for lunch.
However, MMOs are not single player games. They are designed so that you can't 'win' in two days. If you have a problem with that, go back to your PS3.
And you mindless minnions piss me off. The most vocal opponents to changes in DFO are the long term vets. The reason is obivious. So I offer you a solution then, start a poll here and collect the names of all the vets willing to pay AV more say 100 a month for your sub to be able to keep the game as it is. Then you can truely claim it IS YOUR SANDBOX. Hell most of you people exploited your way to fame and riches in the game so it stands to reason you want to protect your ricebowl. So follow my suggestion, you smal elite group of hard core exploiters can pay for the entire operating costs of DFO and have your OWN SANDBOX TOO! BTW if you do this I will send you a box full of plastic sandbox toys.
This patch will bring more people back to the game than it will drive off. The ones that it drives off are people like you, so no one cares. Goodbye.
they will gain the instant gratification retards and will lose some of thier most dedicated customers. Clearly you are a genious.
The current playerbase of hardcores (lol) is TINY, and getting smaller all the time.
The likely alternative to AV finally buying a clue and changing the game is the eventual shutdown due to lack of subs.
Which would you prefer?
Darkfall has a monumentally idiotic setup: meaningless flagging rules, no skill cap, a lack of sandbox features. It'll remain a dying game unless AV makes some hard decisions and changes that'll keep more players, and attract new ones.
need more posts from these outsiders who don't know WTH they are talking about.
People dont have to play the game to know that you watn ezmode kills.
And some of us that do have already asked for his gear as he departs...
not quitting, just keeping my eyes out for a game I would enjoy more. I don't enjoy games where they change the game to allow the bad players beat the best simply because there was more than one of them.
Your upset because you can't kill 2 or 3 people solo anymore? Why not?
If your a good pvper why can't you kill them? Shouldn't your experience pvping be enough to kill off a couple guys that just spent their entire gaming time grinding mobs?
I don't get it.
it was already difficult enough to 2v1. the outnumbering force has VERY significant advantages already, such as one being able to parry while the other hits you in the back. It was already very easy for players who knew what they were doing to beat any solo person. This hp change will make it extremely difficult to solo since everyone will now have more HP and a solo player won't be able to last long enough to get both of those now much larger hp pools down.
Cool so two noobs could beat you before, assuming they used some tactics. So what the hell were you complaining about again? Oh getting rolled by two noobs? Travel with friends. Sides last time I checked DFO was a MMO right? Meaning more then one person is playing at a time? So lets put this into context. You joined DFO thinking you were going to have one on ones the duration of the game when it was advertised as a sandbox pvp free for all? What part of the game advertisements led you to believe that it was a solo pvp game? Yep looks like you raced to the top to grind the I WIN buttons and with these changes you cant anymore. I am also guessing you probably are a caster right? Otherwise why bitch?
I'm so damn sick of these casuals, carebears DARKFALL ISN'T FOR YOU. Theres a reason why this game WAS called hardcore.
If you can't deal with it play something else for the sake of god we don't want you in this game!
We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!
"Everything you're bitching about is wrong. People don't have the time to invest in corpse runs, impossible zones, or long winded quests. Sometimes, they just want to pop on and play." "Then maybe MMORPGs aren't for you."

Thats the reason why many players that liked DF the WAY IT WAS BEFORE YOU DAMN CASUALS ruined everything again will quit soon. I'd rather see it shut down before becoming another game for you spoiled wowkids.

btw, i don't like WoW... and i haven't been a kid in a really, really long time..
The OP says "I wasted thousands hours of my life grinding and grinding, trying to become godlike in a game and the devs changed the game so I can't be godlike any more wahhhh"
Got what was coming to you. Get a life. GAMES ARE GAMES.
------ Played - UO, FFXI, WAR, WoW, EVE Currently - Bored.
There is no risk of losing stats and skills so your arugment is invalid.
After all, we dont have any problems with skill grind and items grind. Problem we have is stats grind. Players who played DF since the 1st day teal today cannot even compete one vs one vs vets that played since day one who macroed and cheated at the same time. You see, DF vets that are really strong on pvp are macroers.
So the unfair part is between macroers and legit players.
IF there had to be skills and stats point loss, it would not bother me at all. Vets in their part would still cry once they get back to average player skill/stats because of decay. Skill stats cap and decay was suppose to be in at release. Right after beta, vets did their best to make the devs cancel the caps and decay because they did not want to lose their hard work. This is where us casual gamers started to whine about the game.
Instead of whining and staying like most of you players who want the grind back do, we whined and left the game. DF started to bleeding from subs each months. They had no choice, they had to reduce the grind. Now, grind had been fix and DF will be perfect after the upcoming expansion.
The issue is not about loosing stats or skills, and I know how the hell you got that out of my post. Once again, I don't care about pvp. I don't even care about endgame, most of the time I never want to participate in it. For the most part its pvp, and I could care less. My gripe is that developers, due to whinning by casuals, made the game easier so that they could reach the level of the veterans while doing less grinding. If the majority of veterans (and I doubt the majority of them used macros), then the developers should have addressed macroing, and created a solution specifically punishing those that used them instead of ruining the time vs reward.
First you say its the casuals that piss you off.. but now its the developers..
which is it?
both?
Don't blame the casual player, he can bitch and whine on the forums all he wants, that probably won't change much. But when that same player stops his sub, and the developer comes to the astounding realization that his game isn't making the money he thought/wants/needs, well then... Now the developer realizes there aren't enough "hardcore" to keep his game operational.
Lets call it "survival of the fittest".. Aparently hardcore gamers aren't the alphas they pressume they are.
Theres clearly not enough fans of this type of game to line the developers pockets.. As someone said earlier, a lot of people don't like the idea of being someones bitch for the next 6 months while paying 15$/month.. Blame who you want..
Giving vets free items in game as compensation isn't really going to cut the mustard either, i think we both know that..
I played it for awhile and I stopped my sub.. I play MMOs for PvP, i loved UO.. Getting roflstomped in noob areas was expected, not seeing a light at the end of the tunnel is what turned me off. Call me casual, carebear, noob whatever you like, but thats it in a nutshell
Actually, the casual player is more to blame, because they force the devleoper to "stupidify" the game so that you casuals can enjoy it. It's not my, the game's, or the developer's fault you spend more time on facebook, and less time willing to achieve something worthwhile. It's not about being Alpha, Elite, or Superior. It's about, "I pay the same amount of money you do, we should have equal opportunity and time vs reward mechanics." It's simply cheap to change the rules in the middle of the road.
I presented several options for compensation, of which you obviously didn't read.
Marcus, I can agree that in some games the grind is mind-numbing, and I will concede that in some cases reducing it might be warranted. However, changing that mid-stream without a sufficient compensation for older players is just crappy.
Additionaly, and in regards to your, "...not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel[...]." all I can say is that MMOs are not single player games. You can't "win" in an MMO, there is no end, and you certainly cannot run through all that content in a weekend.

I think you need to lay off the weed. Clearly the changes made in this case do nothing but help AV. I dont get where you and some other deluded posters assumed AV was creating a game just for you? When did that delusion strike you?
I think you need to lay off the weed. Clearly the changes made in this case do nothing but help AV. I dont get where you and some other deluded posters assumed AV was creating a game just for you? When did that delusion strike you?
Damn, your thick. It's not about making a game specifically for anyone. It's the fact that the developers changed the time vs reward after a sufficient amount of time had passed, wherein the older players got hosed and no compensation was given.
I've been playing for 1.2 years and AV has screwed me out of my time investment 4 times now. Some of us original Darkfall players have spent so much time developing our chars, only to have AV make a patch that makes it 10x easier or handing out advantages that took several months to attain.
its not about 1v1 its about not losing just b/c you are outnumbered by 1. Only ignoramuses actually think most vets go around killing newbs all day.
AV has caved to the whiners and this means they will continue to cave.
Its like being in a yearlong weightlifting competition and training for 12 months and then they change the rules and start giving the new competitors steroids and attactching weights to those who actually put forth the effort.
someday you people may wish you could 2v1 for all the time you have invested into your character but you wil never be able to because everyone has 450 hp and you can't possibly go through all that HP before two guys go through yours.
soloing in Darkfall is dead, character progression as part of the competition is also dead and they are allowing the noobs and whiners to compete with the best and that is the reason that I don't play WoW.
Time for this competitive gamer to start looking for another game.
Thanks for the great times AV, its a shame you didn't learn the lesson that SWG had to learn about what happens when you cater to that vocal minority of whiners and bads.
"I'm glad that people are going to be more competitive a lot quicker, but honestly it kinda sucks that anybody that has put zero effort into their character can just naked rush you with 400 HP and a melee weapon. Fighting outnumbered is going to be a pain in the ass."
Quoted for truth from DF forums. GG AV. The winers will just move onto the next thing and you will continue to piss off your base.
edit: retort before you even type:
when they start giving steroids to the crybabies b/c they don't want to do any heavy liften when the game has such a large untapped populaceae its a shame b/c the people who have been around since the beggining and worked to develop their characters so they wouldnt get owned everytime they saw two guys will probably be put off by this and may even quit.
the game was part of the competition and now its turning into CS with full loot and sieges. Not competitive enough for me when they have to increase character progression 4x b/c the masses can't deal with it. Devs got greedy, its really a shame for those who loved DF the way it was. It seems like they have given up on their vision and are now working towards mass appeal. GFG AV, GFG.
many of these children think that DF is a 1v1 game apparently. They cannot seem to comprehend that there needs to be a solo pvp playstyle that is able to beat 2v1 at least or competitive gamers will say fuck this and play CS b/c its not fun losing to idiots just b/c they outnumber you by 1, that is WoW.
And all shall fall by the grace of the people - anon
The only crying I have seen is from the OP and those like him. So you want a cookie for clicking a mouse button more times than other players and you equate that to a weightlifting competition? lmao

I agree, that was pretty priceless. I really fear for the future of this country when I see things like this posted. Or other people claiming playing games is thier career! Really...the basement and bags of stale cheetoez! isnt a career!

Why do you keep diverting from the issue at hand?
That is a strong sense of delusion. You pay sub fee to play a game, invest your time, and expect that you have built up a right to seek compensation when the developer change the game?
When Microsoft implements an improvements on windows, do you demand compensation to you vets because it renders one of your old macros useless?
Saytan is right, you are looking at the game as if it should serve you. You demand compensation for a folly argument that older players got hosed. The game is delivered as is, as in any game. As a player, you pay for the right to use the game, as the developer see fit, not the other way round. Claims of compensation is totally delusionary
Time for this competitive gamer to start looking for another game.
Mortal Online will be turing the corner for stability and a look-see.
Yeah try mortal online - as a competitive pvper you deserve some pain. I've played MMO's most nights for 10 years, mortal has destroyed my will to play any game, it makes conan feel like a treasured memory.
I lol'd.

Ahhh, you so called "hardcore" gamers never fail to crack me up. Replace "hardcore" with "nolifers" and you got it about right lol
You know you are looking at a griefer after reading the OP.
What he cares is his superiority and unbeatable status over newcomers, not against equal ranked players. What do I smell? The OP does not worry about competiveness against others of equal ranks, maybe he flees at the first sight. He cares about being unkillable by new players, maybe his only activity in game is killing newbies and he needs virtual unkillable advantage before he dare set foot outside his door.
If there is a risk, you face it. If the world changes, you adapt to it. Darkfall is such a game for big man, big man fixed problems, not QQ at first smell of issues.

Force?
Thats almost humorous..
They didnt force the developers to do anything.. i chose not to sub to their product after a short time, as I didnt enjoy aspects of their game. Obviously i wasnt the only one. No one held a gun to their head to make these changes.
It is their choice wether to change things, or continue on a path thats obviously not working for them..
I could give a crap what they do, nor will i lose any sleep over it. its their game, its their choice.
Or do you think perhaps we should be "forced" to play a game we dont enjoy, and forget all the other MMOs out there.
I don't expect to be competative in a weekend, I also don't expect to pay to get my ass kicked for the next 6-9 months to get there.. Sorry, theres other options out there i can choose from, all the while "forcing" the devs to change thier game for me me me!
Trust me, theres no amount of "reward" the devs can give the hardcore for "stupifying" their game. And by that i refer to the hardcores game, because they keep telling us its "thier" game

That would be the problem.. by "Hardcore" most assumed it meant a ruthless conflict riddled world where taking a piss break could cost you everything you own. Where the game revolved around personal skill. A competitive world.
But of course that isn't what we found. "Hardcore" players found a world where people banked there crud to keep from losing it in a siege. People that preferred to PvP naked and AFK skillup. We found a bunch of scared no lifers that thought hardcore meant grinding out skill lvl's so that they could pwn any new player that entered the game.
To me Hardcore doesn't mean "Willing to grind for a year just to pwn newbs" but you seem to disagree.
It already was for spoiled WoWkids, instead of being a skill based PvP game it's a gear and stat centric grind game where a lvl 80 would Pwn a lvl 10 in PvP. There isn't a lot of difference in WoW and DFO, some mechanic differences but a lot of similarities at the core.
I think you need to lay off the weed. Clearly the changes made in this case do nothing but help AV. I dont get where you and some other deluded posters assumed AV was creating a game just for you? When did that delusion strike you?

Why do you keep diverting from the issue at hand?
The problem is - the original time vs reward system was flawed to the extend where, after several months, anyone freshly joining the game would be at extreme disadvantages in comparison to the people who joined from the first day. So, while I understand your position of losing "power" in comparison to the newcomers, you have to understand that your "power" is not fairly obtained. You enjoyed your power for some time, but its time for some change.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.
The patch did very little to even the playing ground. So, all the complaining about AV caving is a total joke.
EVERYONE got a bump in HP unless they are capped at 450HP before the patch.
I have been playing for 6 months and still get rolled by the people in infernal with 100 mastery in about everything and 450 HP.
The groups I am in still get rolled by the maxed toons and a lot of them have over 400HP.
After months of playing a "vet" will still hit you for 45+ to the front in partial plate and scale (don't want complete fizzle) while you will be lucky if you can do more then 25 with an R50.
I was in a group of 7 defending a city the other night we got rolled by a group 4 or 5. I had the lowest health in the group at 342 (a lot of them in are group had over 400hp), we were fully geared (R40-60's) against some people in robes and bone combo sets. We got completely owned. I think the lowest one we got down to about maybe 1/3 health and at least two barely went down at all before we were all dead standing naked at the bind stone.
I will say these guys where good and made use of some spells well (WoF) and the terrain. They also worked well together as a group. That said, they still had a good advantage in terms of how hard they get hit and how hard they can hit.
I think I could take some of that group solo or at least have had a better chance but I would have to hit them probably two times for every time they hit me to do it.
So, any "vet" coming here crying about what AV did is simply making things up. If you are NEW they will kill you in about 4-5 hits and you would need to hit them about 30 times to take them down. If these "vets" think that is even, well you tell me what you think?
For a more experienced player to take down a "vet" using R50's with close to 70 mastery and about 350 HP they will be down roughly 100 HP from the "vet" (maxed 450) and be hitting for about 25 compared to about 50. Do the math and you will see non-vet that has been playing for a while will have to hit the vet more then twice the amount to take him/her down.
For the all the complaining coming from more experienced players in the game had little to do with leveling the playing field between newer players and "vets" and way more to do with how the more experienced players fight each other(magic and mounted combat changes). That and the effect the ore being more available (still pretty damn rare) has had on the HUGE stock piles they have been sitting on.
I am way more surprised to not see more newer players here complaining on how the patch basically did nothing to help, all the vets in the game think the HP bonus was basically a joke.
All in all - it is a game - it will evolve one way or another and when playing on online MMO you have to except that and know you either stick with a game because you enjoy it or move on because you do not but you know THERE IS VERY LITTLE YOU CAN DO TO CHANGE THAT.
Well lots of people are forgetting a simple fact: its not just the changes its also the people you'll attract with those. You know whiners, carebears and casuals that want everything onthe silvertable. The next thing they'll complain about will be the INT advantage so look forward for another dumbing down of the game.
AV pissed off their former playerbase by killing longtime progression that simple. Yes theres nothing you can do about it other than vote with your wallet its a shame because I loved the game.

If you can't deal with it play something else for the sake of god we don't want you in this game!

Thats the reason why many players that liked DF the WAY IT WAS BEFORE YOU DAMN CASUALS ruined everything again will quit soon. I'd rather see it shut down before becoming another game for you spoiled wowkids.
I dont know what game description you read before coming on board. The one i read talked about many things one of which was an extensive set of skills you could gain. Now, anyone with any amount of gaming experience could understand that advertising the amount of skills you have means that the game will be skill progression based.
Where did consumers ever get the idea that this game was not going to have skill progression. The best I can tell is that they said it that the gap between vet and noob will not be as large compared to most other MMO's which they were 100% correct on.
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

Excellebnt post. The game core is screwed up.
LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
You most be OG in disguise ;} you are too elitez fer me KID!

If the majority of veterans (and I doubt the majority of them used macros), then the developers should have addressed macroing, and created a solution specifically punishing those that used them instead of ruining the time vs reward.

which is it?

Damn, your thick. It's not about making a game specifically for anyone. It's the fact that the developers changed the time vs reward after a sufficient amount of time had passed, wherein the older players got hosed and no compensation was given.
Why do you keep diverting from the issue at hand?
The only crying I have seen is from the OP and those like him. So you want a cookie for clicking a mouse button more times than other players and you equate that to a weightlifting competition? lmao
I agree, that was pretty priceless. I really fear for the future of this country when I see things like this posted. Or other people claiming playing games is thier career! Really...the basement and bags of stale cheetoez! isnt a career!
Ahhh, you so called "hardcore" gamers never fail to crack me up. Replace "hardcore" with "nolifers" and you got it about right lol
"I play Tera for the gameplay"
...its a shame b/c the people who have been around since the beggining and macro'd to develop their characters so they wouldnt get owned...
Fixed.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holodomor - pre-WW2 genocide.
I can't believe this is still going on.
