Someone has already pointed that out on page 3 or so.
This game should cost $9.97 and be F2P with a cash shop for RP clothes and fishing poles. They might also make some cash selling hardware mouse enabler in cash shop
This made me laugh so hard because I could see SE trying to pull it off. Mouse lag is not a 'bug' it is an intentional choice made by SE on their game design.
Dev Bob:"Hey what about the cursor ingame?"
Dev Bill:"What about it? It's already been covered."
Dev Bob:"Well it says here that it won't be hardware mouse and that can be a real issue for the PC verion."
Dev Bill:"And?"
Dev Bob:"We should change this or could have a negative impact on the game."
Dev Bill:"Let me get this straight. You want us to spend resources to redo code for a feature that isn't in our target market? You're the new guy right?"
Dev Bob:"Yes, I just started yesterday."
Dev Bill:"If you want to keep your job I suggest you avoid talking such nonsense around here. We are a console company. We have about 2 windows programmers working on this project. Those PC users will buy a gamepad to play with. This is what our marketing team has told us."
Dev Bob:"Sir, with all do respect... it would only take a small..."
Dev Bill:"I don't think this is going to work out for you here Bob."
I read this and I think I'm going to have to clean my breakfast off my monitor. HAHAHAHA
Tongue in cheek as it may be, this is very likely the case on a lot of issues with this game. Although I don't see them fixing the obnoxiously overused terrain (can you even call whole towns.. "terrain"?) with a patch or a item shop upgrade.

Maybe its just where I live (oklahoma) I can drive literally hours upon hours and see copy and pasted wheat fields, and every cedar tree looks the same to me. I am not saying this is norm for the rest of the world but in my experience, when your in a given region there are stricking resemblances all over. Now if I saw the same stuff in every map I might have a concern over this. This isnt even new in MMO's lot of mmo's do this. This is a good sign for ffxiv, because people are struggling to find something/anything to whine about. Were not talking about some gamebreaking feature, I have yet to see those all I see are nit picking threads. Which excites me even more about ffxiv.

Anyhow, this is something that is very rare in the MMO world. The scale of this copying and pasting is crazy. Other games copy chairs and things like that. Old World WoW had copied caves (but had very few caves) and some buildings. Copying Terrain features all over the place though....that's not common at all. Essentially copying villages one after another...that's not common either.

I think you misunderstood this thread. Point is, this is just another problem added on top of the pile of problems this game offers. So many problems, and many are game breakers. Of course, many MMOs do this, but this one does it in a great extent. Anyway, have fun in your game while I'll be playing something 10 times better in about 6 months from now.

But did you see the same exact stand of 3 trees sitting on the same exact hill overlooking the same exact plot of wheat fields? No you didn't. Not even close. Individual items are ok to look similar. Whole huge plots of land including every identifiable landmark repeated 45 times in your home state and you'd notice. More than notice, you'd probably get annoyed and move to a different state.

/thread.
Thread is about a problem killing of what is otherwise known as one of the game's strongest points: immersion. Everything else is what you want to believe.

Also. STAY ON TOPIC.
ok we all understand you opinion. now quit trying to shove it down our throats.
yeah the general landscape is copy pasted we understand that. but if you actually took the effort to look at even the screenshots you posted you'd also notice that they took the effort to go in and change things. Different skins on the rock face, adhusted the mesh on the cliff. used different surrounding landscapes so that we're not feeling like we're running over the same patch of ground. there are significant differences in every copy/paste that makes it a different area.
Differing opinions are just that.
my favorite quote is "opinions are like assholes just because you have one dosn't mean we all need to hear it. and with repetition they really stink up a room"
Ok, so everyone always complains "WoW just took ideas from other mmo's its not even that good."
And then when it comes to defending a different game they will go "Well WoW does it so its ok."
Does no one else notice this? Seriously, this is unacceptable, Also dungeons in WoW are not all the same 4 layouts, maybe in the newer expansions, but there is indoor and outdoor dungeons in WoW, almost all of them have different paths you can take and areas to explore.
This is just blatent laziness, even Mortal Online isnt that bad and its made by an indie dev company.
This is just Cryptic Syndrome all over again, rushing a game out the door and hoping the initial box sales cover the costs and a little extra and then just milking it dry until theres a small playerbase keeping it on life support.

You forgot to mention the part where they rotate the actual rocks 45 and 90 degrees. Must have taken a lot of effort.
alot of effort no. it only takes a few clicks but those few clicks alter the look and feel of the area even if it's just by a small amount. this is the same type of method most games use to generate their terrain.
here's an example from my experience creating mods and custom maps from other games and also from talking with devs from alot of the mmo's
First they create the base map. next they flesh it out a little with premade landscape tiles. followed by mesh adjustments then individual object placements, skin overlays and any little touches they feel the area needs to hook it to the next area. Most mmo's use a small amount of different objects with slight variations for any individual item (like rocks or trees) to keep resource requirements to a minimum. the larger the map or "zone" the fewer different objects they were able to readily use to keep the framerate from bottoming out and bandwidth from becoming excessive. newer graphic cards and methods of loading terrain and objects have greatly increased the zone sizes and objects useable but still it's a limited amount of difffering objects and terrain. With the graphic overlay they are using and the "almost" zone free aspects of the game i'm quite impressed with the terrain and the amount of detail they went into to make even similar tiles look dissimilar
and to finish off my post i'll say this.
there are alot of things about this game that piss me off and have me reconsidering my preorder. but the "copy/paste" terrain is not among them.
They copy/pasted everyone's crafting/gathering/fighting movements! Cancel Pre-Order. All the stones on the floor are copy/pasted! Cancel Pre-Order. The ocean looks the same everywhere! Cancel Pre-Order. WUT?! Someone else is a just like me!? Obvious copy/paste job of classes. Cancel Pre-Order. Some of the NPC's look the same too! Cancel Pre-Order.
LOL, sarcastic but with some truth. Every game has flaws, why is FF14 the only one where players are saying don't buy it or analysiing to the extreme? Better question is if it's being implied this game copy paste more than others. Why is there no screenshots of multiple maps from other mmos for comparison? Does the OP work for a competitor mmo or related to someone who does? I don't like rift but I don't go on those forums analysing and pointing flaws out. I'm not defending SE because there is nothing to defend. It's evident, but where is the proof FF14 does it more than others? If the OP doesn't work for a competitor or a consumer report mag. Why only the analysis on FF14? Or have they posted similar types of post, pointing out other mmo shortcomings on their appropriate forums? If your a fan with complaints, idk you usually let them know on their feedback site. You don't say"Vote with your wallet" If your a fan of some other mmo, they don't pay you to use smear tactics. If your holy grail mmo is better than FF14. Then it doesn't need your help to bolster it's sub base by beliitling others.

Going back to page 3-4 you will see that they barely changed the looks of the "similar" terrain, actually at page 4 the house in the field, the position of it in the field, the fence position... look exactly the same to me. Sorry, but if you notice that some of the stuff you saw, you have seen it again (and I'm not talking about caves here) then it's already too late. If you have problems with the OP that he posts bad things about your game then keep it to yourself or discuss it through PM. Other than that, you are welcome to post your opinion on the matter.

Maybe they thought the issue of reusing objects didn't have the importance that the OP gave it, ever wondered about that?

Should work, at least the fanbois don't seem to be too picky.

Well after it is pointed out that the landscape is copy and peace we should talk about something different.
I like for example kittens and there is nothing better than a basket full of kittens to calm people down. Do you all agree on this?
Take these for example:
The middle kitten is a copy paste of the left kitten.
