I mean hello? They invested 300 MILLION dollars, (snips)
You were joking, right?
Only the most persistent haters and opponents would swallow one statement of a disgruntled blogger as greedily as if it's sugar candy or royal cum. 300 million dollars, right. Really , some people just want to believe every bad news that comes out about a game, I swear, it's almost masochistic the way they gloat and celebrate each bad news or rumor of a game they intend to play.

One should only conclude from facts, like you, and not bring in entirely pointless things like calling people trolls, SWG-vets or whatever to discredit their posts by unreasonable personal attacks.
Well said, there is ENOUGH reason to advise Bioware to rethink some of their doings.
Speculations, speculations, speculations, oh, how some people revel in them, announcing them as firm truths.
I can totally see why you're so eager to believe statements like the quoted ones. Me, I try to see it more in context and I have little eye or respect for the skewed viewpoints of people who have proven in their posting how utterly onesidedly biased they are in their adoration and adulation of one MMORPG - like WoW - and denigratingly negative towards any other MMORPG.
The idea alone that you're talking about assumptions on fiction of other people and of "facts" regarding what he said is so hilariously funny and moronic that I'd almost suspect you of trolling, if it hadn't been you. Now I find it merely chuckle worthy for the stupidity in reasoning, like a good joke.

*shrug* Even if it is *just* 150 milion dollar that sure is enough to be nervous, don't you think?
Yes, we speculate. But whose fault is that? Bioware can correct that any moment they decide.
Come on 99% of ALL replies to critique here were "SWG vet", "troll" or "hater". Not from you, but from almost everybody else. I mean we bring in arguments why *so far* SWTOR looks like a fail, at least in terms of demanding MMO gaming. Not necessarily in numbers. And what reasons or arguments have those who claim SWTOR will be a success? WHAT? That story and Star Wars is cool, that Bioware is to be trusted? I just don't see any reason to assume SWTOR will not fail like every previous MMO launched in the last 4 years. If it does succeed, thats great, really.I WANT it to succeed. But I just don't see that. I just fail to see the points why I should expect a roaring success.
Well, if you don't like the list of reasons I agreed to: show me your list of reasons why it is supposed to be great. I just have not seen it. People say it will be great, but they kinda don't say why - on what they base this assumption.

On the basis that its a based on a success formula .
Story !!! Community !!! WoWclone (people can take it bad , but ease of play means more audience and who doesn´t want to play with millions of people , instead of tenthousands)
So the rest doesn´t matter , the community is there .
No matter how many fake polls people establish to try get there sandbox and swg galaxy back .
IT WONT HAPPEN .
So basically if you dont like those 3 , something a lot of games lacked already .

Uhh... your reasons are baseless and assumptive. That's the bottom line.
No one needs to prove that they'll bring out a successful game to you or anyone that doesn't like the idea of the game. You just come off as bitter when you constantly list reasons, that are based on very little, that this game or any game will be bad.
Which is fine with me. But don't act surprised when people call you out when you use arguments based on assumptions that are based on nothing. For instance, your nebulous idea that:
*so far* SWTOR looks like a fail, at least in terms of demanding MMO gaming.
What does that mean? It's nonsense based on nothing. It is your own personal viewpoint. There are no facts. There is nothing except some guy on a forum spouting nonsense.

If you'd paid attention, you'd have seen the threads and comments where fans and interested posters didn't mind constructive debate or criticism when they're presented in a reasonable way, what they definitely didn't like was the sometimes sheer stupidity or wilful ignorance with which extreme viewpoints and arguments were presented as if it was the holy truth. Besides the 'fanboi' namecalling that happened a lot until recently.
It's that sort of extreme viewpoints and nonsensical arguments that fueled the polarized debates, and kept flame wars going.
Personally, I have to wonder why you keep coming back to forums of a game you're convinced will fail, but ok, as you say you see no reason why it won't fail, sure, you're entitled to your opinion.
About the reasons why it has great potential: come on... how long have you been hanging around these forums? There have been dozens of threads and hundreds of posts where people presented their view why it could be great. Are you saying you've forgotten all these?
To me it sounds very similar to how people keep "forgetting" that a lot more was being said by devs about the game besides story.
The ease with which predictions are made on these forums: Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."

The only thing is how cartoony the graphics are, but I guess they are trying to copy WoW's art style. I would really like to see a dark realistic looking Star Wars universe. Something along the lines of AoC graphics. I just feel the cartoon graphics were popular 5 years ago.
This has to do with couple issues i think
1 Lucas arts , there cartoons are made for the newer generations .
2 Also to target a wider market , you cannot have too state of the art graphics , remember not everybody has up to the date computer ,
3 More people like cartoonishe looks then realistic looks >.< i dont know why , but its simply that way .
Exactly. Those style of graphics will play well on a much wider selection of the installed hardware base, than more realistic types. Keep in mind one of the draw backs to EQ2 when it released was the high end system requirements.
Honestly guys none of you have played this game yet not even in beta and many of you are making wild assumptions already based on very little evidence . Ok all any of us can say at present is if we like the graphic style . It might be too cartoony for some but it says very little about the actual gameplay . A few articals about the game can give a little idea of what it will be like but not one iota of actual first hand experiance of playing . It could be a hunk of garbage or the greatest thing to happen to the mmo genre in a long time . At least wait for the release before trying to pick it apart otherwise its a pathetic and obvious attempt at trolling by people who are so geeky they are worried that any new as yet untried game will threaten their current chosen mmo .

cartoons are attractive to a younger audience... what else is new? games like AOC have an 18 rating, and are designed to appeal to a maturer audience, its just a question of demographics, personally i prefer games that appeal to the more mature player, i began losing interest in cartoons quite a while ago. And, just so that there is no misunderstanding, more realistic graphics, does not mean photorealistic ones, though obviously it would be a good thing to have, half life 2 managed pretty well i think, and you can hardly call that a 'new' game now either - so cartoony graphics these days are intended to appeal to a certain age group/demographic rather than because they are easier to render on lower powered machines (which isnt necessarily true btw) i think a good indication will be, the minimum age requirements of the game when it is released, i think you'll find that there probably isnt one.
I dunno what the OP is talking about each video looking progressively worse . I'll admit I've not seen them all but from what I've seen thus far I could'nt see anything wrong with them . Also a video of gameplays shows nothing about the game . Age of Conan looked fantastic compared to WoW in video form but that does'nt translate to the smoothness of the client . This kind of thing happens to EVERY single game in these forums . To date most games have been a little wanting so its always a safe bet to say this or that game will fail its always rubbish and based on rumour like this thread . This kind of trash will continue till a games released and then we'll all get a clearer picture .
When it all comes down to it . Biowares games in my opinion are normally pretty good . StarWars is a massive franchise which even if a half decent game is released will do well .
Threads likes this don't really help and although they arn't bad to waste a few mins looking through the all have one thing in common.
ZERO FACTS .
I was gonna link a picute of poop on here and put best food ever on top of it and then start to argue that becuase you have not ate it it could be good.
That REAL FACTS ARE that you don't have to play a game to see weakness and issues in them. Some are glaring. Some SS will show you sdome, but videos do tell more than a thousand words.
Now you cannot know everythign about a game , but if your objective you can learn much from videos of mmorpgs and anygame at that rate.

lol, you know I don't agree with you at all, but some of your posts are hilarious lol. All I know is that I firmly believe that you are going to be the leader of the largest guild on whatever server you choose and I personally think you work for Bioware and are purposely stating the opposite of reality in order to better advertise the game, am I right? :-)
Think of this. A lot of information about the game has already been realesed, but you know they are still hiding something. Lucas Arts has been known for keeping their games a secret. As for Bioware in "panic mode", I doubt they are. I think they know this game will be huge for mmo's. They still have a huge fan base and the hype level (even on this site) is pretty high. We already have an idea of when the game will be released (spring 2011), so I just hope it's early spring because as you said obviously the game is finished and they're just testing.

Lol. Sorry, you may think that, but videos and screenshots aren't that telling, there's a clear limit from what you can learn of them.
I don't know what clear picture for the last 8 years you're referring to, but I'd say that the biggest thing that has changed is expectations. If games like EQ, UO, DAoC and others would have launched in a climate of user tolerance and attitude as seen these days, then they would have been slaughtered. It's perception and expectation that has changed.
Personally I laugh at people who say all MMORPG's released besides WoW the last 5-8 years have been fail - if that's what you're referring to with the negative "realists".
But we'll see a year from now, there's little facts and a lot of speculation regarding the topic anyway.

We also have a quiter who seems obsessed with SWTOR.
Eurogamer: EA Louse. When you first read it, what was your immediate reaction?
Greg Zeschuk: We're disappointed in the sense of someone having that unfortunate perspective. That's how I would describe it.
Ray Muzyka: It was sad to read that kind of stuff. We just won a top 100 employers award for BioWare. We invest a lot in quality of the workplace. It's really important to us. We take it seriously. The BioWare Mythic team is part of the BioWare group. I know the people that work there. They care. They feel the same way that the other leaders across BioWare and EA feel.

As for the people talking about how great Bioware is. Here's some fun stuff to read about the experienced developers at Bioware Austin: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:CVaCFsLaBQgJ:www.jobvent.com/bioware-job-reviews-C14550+Bioware+Austin+review&cd=5&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a Read the youtube comments: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xinIQOvr1o Here's a few snippets for people who are lazy: "I think it reflects the poor state of the programming department in Austin. Many people there have been very unhappy with their director of IT" "Frequently comments can be heard, from full time employees, about how a person's work is below caliber because they are a contractor, but yet this company, in Austin, relies mostly on contractors to get their game finished. From what I saw, during my time there, the contractors were doing the same/better work in nine out of ten cases"
"I worked in the programming department. If IQs were assigned to social skills, I'd say Bioware scores an average of 11, where normal would be 100. There is a definite "follow the leader" mentality here. That might be good if the leader were worthy of being followed, but in the case of our department, let me just say 'no comment.' Code is shoddy. Ego trumps quality or skill. The higher up the chain you go, the more shrill the whining. I am considering looking for a new job, but the economy is bad, so I will just hunker down until things turn around and then, maybe, I will get a job with a game company that has a quality programming department."
"As a programmer, I found the quality of their programming to be very poor. I have avoided letting people know that I worked for Bioware because I do not want my programming skills associated with the lack of quality I witnessed there.
Bioware, in addition to hiring temp works as the bulk of their productive force, also outsources a great deal of their work to India, Russia, and the Philippines. I was told that it wasn't important to get things right because they'd outsource the last 10% of the work. This, of course, encourages poor programming.
I also left Bioware with the impression that they lack creativity. They borrow ideas and styles from other companies rather than inventing their own."
It's all unconfirmed but that's the thing about it, nothing will ever be confirmed due to contracts, NDA's, needing the job, etc. Take it all with a grain of salt but the more I look the more I find that it looks like Bioware Austin isn't the shining pinnacle of MMO design many though it would be.
At first I thought it was bull* but I noticed some people in the latest interviews now shaving their heads and there came this sentence:
A very large percentage of the employees emulate one of the managers by shaving their heads
I would be in panic mode. The Star Wars movies are over and the nostalgia is just about faded. Marketing has pushed all the items they can into stores and on tv. Parents and children alike are just about sick of everything jedi.
This statement is incorrect and opinionated, with no grounds whatsoever.
Cliffnotes: This game better be damn good and come with a trial. The "Star Wars" name no longer means "buy then try."
Well.. EA is invovled with the game so if it doesn't make them a crapload of money it'll be shut down in less than 6 months most likely, just like any other mmorpg EA has been involved with, or just about any.
"An MMORPG could be completely diffirent from WoW. Just look at games like Dofus, Wizard101 or EVE. But as it is, most of the Western MMOs are trying to succeed by out-WoWing WoW. It's like an army of 10 sports games made about same sports, and barely none about other sports. WoW clone is an accurate description of those games, it manages to convey much information with only two words." -Poster on mmorpg.com
Rift: World of Warcraft clone #9321 Nothing special to see here move along.
Than sadly we will not see it in first half of 2011. Or even worse we will see buggy unplayable version of it in first half of 2011.
But I dont think neither of those are true.
Second.
I am not talking about mmorpg.com forums.
Every video i see on youtube, gamespot, etc. Read comments below. Very negative.
Now if that is not upsetting EA/B. Than what is ? What gives you the impression that they're upset?
They expect that majority of their customers will be people that never seen game footage , or never followed the game ?
Thats as sad as it is unrealistic. (This is actually based on statistical analysis, thus, it is fair to say that it is logical at the least, to assume that those who do not refer to forums/videos or the like are out there. However, it is unfair to assume the opposite, based on nothing. I've stopped coming to forums as often, mainly because I can't help but notice that the desire of many forum dwellers is the act of flaming, so-to-speak. These flamers are the de-evolutionary devises from which gossip is leaked, boiled, and then inappropriately vomitted out in a projectile-sandwich-spread across the entirety of the mmo community. They lack any substantial evidence; only the word of another lights their way. Assumptions are ridiculous when teamed with ignorance and misinformation, which is the case with most posters on this site.)
I'm sorry if I offended anyone with the above posts, and I'm sorry your misinformation has carried through this long.
What we know about this game should be all that we reflect on. What we decipher from that should merely be a speculatory honey pot that we can have fun with, while waiting on the game to release. However, what we get is a lack of discernment, because one person takes another's hypothesis regarding some such thing, and walks it into the general discussion to see if a molotov event can occur.
But, then there are those who haven't bothered playing the game, but only know that the graphics or some such thing aren't to their personal liking, so they've decided to shy away from the game, if maybe only for the time-being. These members of the MMO community are only a small sliver of the pie that makes up the potential SWTOR playerbase. Their opinions are warranted, but their tendency to flame is not.

I agree with nachofoot. Star Wars now sounds a bit cheesy. But of course it's popular and has a value. But maybe not so much as many TOR supporters think.
By looking at the trailers I have a feeling they know the people that are excited for this game are those that actually visit sites like this and can make up their own minds.
People who want KOTOR3ish type game and more than willing to spend the cash to play it.
Heck, just look at the voice feature trailer where they say 'quality voice actors' and show Jennifer Hale. Twice!
If you know who she is, (the trailer assumes you do) then EA/Bio know they have you.

No, but I think I'd like to know who owns mmorpg.com.
My guess is whatever company owns this site also owns a free to play games company.
Unfortunately the contact for the site is lumped into Cyber Creations Inc. Which also owns 600 other domains including loads of porn sits, dead pages, etc.
So who owns mmorpg.com, and are they taking their ques from the success of the fox news propaganda machine to slur the competition?

I would be in panic mode. The Star Wars movies are over and the nostalgia is just about faded. Marketing has pushed all the items they can into stores and on tv. Parents and children alike are just about sick of everything jedi.
This statement is incorrect and opinionated, with no grounds whatsoever.
Cliffnotes: This game better be damn good and come with a trial. The "Star Wars" name no longer means "buy then try."

Go to Google Trends and compare "Star Wars" with "World of Warcraft" lol. Or compare it with Starcraft or Diablo. From the chart you'll learn the secret that Star Wars is actually a huge immortal vampire cock roach.
BTW: Star Wars doesn't sound any cheesier than Starcraft, Warcraft, or Diablo to me lol.

People don't ask questions to get answers - they ask questions to show how smart they are. - Dogbert
Then you will never like it .
Uhh... your reasons are baseless and assumptive.

At least wait for the release before trying to pick it apart otherwise its a pathetic and obvious attempt at trolling by people who are so geeky they are worried that any new as yet untried game will threaten their current chosen mmo .
sigh. honestly some people need to get a life .
cartoons are attractive to a younger audience... what else is new? games like AOC have an 18 rating, and are designed to appeal to a maturer audience, its just a question of demographics, personally i prefer games that appeal to the more mature player, i began losing interest in cartoons quite a while ago.
Sadly your right, and it's still gonna fall on its face but random people at walmart and other places will buy the game im sure.
I bet you could still sell The Matrix online to someone (Box that is)
I was gonna link a picute of poop on here and put best food ever on top of it and then start to argue that becuase you have not ate it it could be good.
"This kind of thing happens to EVERY single game in these forums . To date most games have been a little wanting so its always a safe bet to say this or that game will fail its always rubbish and based on rumour like this thread . This kind of trash will continue till a games released and then we'll all get a clearer picture ."
The sad truth of this is that the clear picture for the last 8 years of mmos have been what the negitive (realists) have been saying. There are facts in this thread , if you choose to ignore them , then fine do so , but don't act all logical and stuff while doing so.
"Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one ..." - Thomas Paine
Is that a conclusion? or just the place where you got tired of thinking.
lol, you know I don't agree with you at all, but some of your posts are hilarious lol. All I know is that I firmly believe that you are going to be the leader of the largest guild on whatever server you choose and I personally think you work for Bioware and are purposely stating the opposite of reality in order to better advertise the game, am I right? :-)
There Is Always Hope!
?RelapsE?
Then don't be convinced just stop tro....err discussing this game since you see nothing but failure all over it.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
Heh, yeah. And Elikal, no worry, even though you might be pining about some aspects of SWG even when playing, I'm sure you're going to love the heck out of playing SW:TOR when it's out

WoW clone is an accurate description of those games, it manages to convey much information with only two words."

Rift: World of Warcraft clone #9321 Nothing special to see here move along.
