What's the point of complaining about registration day if organizators state the rules of giveawy clearly without any word what "you must be the active, old" and so on member of the community? I ve seen how they feel and theres no way around it. They re only worried about traffic. Screw us the long time users I guess.
I'm not so upset about us "long time users" not getting anything as I am about these 1-2 posters claiming they've been "lurking" and then we'll never see them again. I just feel the contest should've been done in a different way that was a little less exploitable. But I don't run this site nor would I deny MMORPG the traffic it deserves.

Same here. I counted down and I'm number 71 on the comment page and while I can understand the frustration I don't want to some how not get my VIP key. I do think they have an actual concern with people like the Draz guy who posted first on day 2 and day 3, the odds of him being first both days by luck are very low.
Heck I was spamming my F5 key since 2:55pm and by the time I click comments and got a comment posted I was number 71. Thats crazy fast how these keys are going.

There is no foul play in signing up today to grab a key. However, we appreciate and understand that our long time users are frustrated by losing out to a new user, but we are not going to punish new users for this. I will be inquiring to find out if there is anything we can do for our regular users, no promises, though!
I have to reiterate this: if you are within the first 100 legitmate requests (I don't want to say post # so as to account for potential double posts or disqualified users) you will get your key regardless of signup date.
Those above post #101 that qualify for keys due to double posting or disqualified users will be notified that they have qualified for a key.

Most contests are ridiculous, you only have a small chance to win. I just joined and luckily I was in first 50 posts for day 3.
I generally don't join forums even if I frequent them, unless I really have incentive to join them. This incentive could be like it was in this case, it could be in the form of friendly and insightful community, or helpful posters that will steer you in the right direction on a problem.
Perhaps the community of mmorpg is accurate in its representation of the community of mmo gamers, but this might also be why many do not join in the conversations on the forums.
Me and my girlfriend was sitting infront of our computers about 6 hours yesterday, hitting F5 like every 5 minute or so -_- looong day:P we took turns at bathroombreaks and sigarette breaks, after hours we got restless and whent for a 20 min walk. We just made it back to the event and luckely both of us goth VIP codes:) We finally got a lucky break:)
it's not impossible, just keep trying, and good luck to everybody who's still hitting F5 like crazy ;P dont let the bots win >.<
As for when keys will be available to claim. We are working hard on that right now and I will update the sticky thread in this forum as well as the news post when today's winners can claim their keys.
Come on now people. You are making an issue out of nothing. So what if someone made a profile a day or two ago? Its not against the rules of this giveaway. Imho it would have made more sense for MMORPG.com to serve its long time members first but they didnt... so stop hating on people who registered recently and were faster than you (and me) at spamming refresh.
Btw anyone know a good spot for grinding refresh skills?

The claim page allows a user to grab a single key and we have other checks in to account for the impact of multiple accounts / bots. We want things to be as fair as possible, just as you do, and we're taking whatever measures necessary to achieve that.

This has been going on for years...I would look at the Rift people before you blame these guys. There are actual sites selling betas with a year subscription like tentonhammer. As with most betas, the odds of getting in are pretty good as it gets closer. Have any of you guys not gotten into a beta that you really wanted in? I know I haven't. Just saying to those who are upset right now. Your odds are great if you really want in.
Well, I guess I'm out then cuz they post it during my work hours, and I work in a room with tight security, and cant use my phone. My stupid lazy brother who doesnt work and sleeps all day doesnt wanna try and get the beta key too. Oh well, maybe some other time.
