Beta feedback was skewed because anyone who commented any of the game's systems with a negative tone was shot down by the SE fanbots and told to piss off back to WOW. Everything was fine. Hopefully SE will learn from this and look at the feedback of those questioning things rather than accepting the word of the the most vocal group. Who were, given the state of the game at launch, clearly wrong and/or a little misguided in their perceptions of the game.
The same can be said for those who purcahsed the game post launch. People who pointed out negatives about the game were labled as trolls/haters/WOW-fans/or simply too stupid to understand the game's subtle nuances by the resident die-hard fans. Everything was fine. Obviously, given the state of the game post-launch, they we not enitrely correct, but the fans still did their best to paint the game in the most positive light they could to anyone enquiring about the game. So in some ways it is hard to fault those who purchased the game post-launch given that so many people on forums (including this one) were doing their best to convince people to do so and to ignore the negative posts about the game.
Well, until the reviews came out.....
Sounds like a textbook case of the Emperors new clothes.

First bit of good news I've seen about this game since it came out. May give it a try again sometime in the not too near future, they've got a hell of a lot of work to do between now and functional. I won't pay to give it a round two though, they'll have to offer a free trial period to win back scorned gamers.
The problem is FFXIV is already around the block for gossip. Any new comer that wants to play the game will ask his buddy, who will probably say "Oh my god that game released AWFUL! Everyone hated it.". If they don't ask their buddy, they'll probably look up reviews for it and see the reviews for when the game released. I think SE is very limited on it's draw of new players coming in, and probably will maintain what it has currently (or even drop more) for the remainder of the game.

There have been games that had terrible launches but built solid games out of them that stuck around for years. Look at anarchy online for example. It does take a serious investment and commitment, I'm not too sure if SE really cares enough for their fanbase to make the changes needed but we'll see.
Dumb people got tricked, that is not for SE to blame.
Did I just read that?
Any respect I had for you went right out the window. Its just about the rudest snd downright ignorant thing you have ever said. Im awed by how breathtakingly obnoxious you are.
Suggesting people be responsible consumers and do their research before purchasing something is "rude and ignorant"?
Since when?
Sounds like wise advice to me, in any capacity.
Hell I can apply that to myself. I was in Alpha. I was in Beta right up to the last day of OB. I knew the state the game was in. I bought it anyway - the CE no less - and found myself very disappointed with it. I convinced myself that what we saw in Beta was only a small part of what the game would be at launch. I was wrong. I have only myself to blame for that.
It wouldn't be "rude" or "ignorant" for someone to point that fact out to me. I might not like to hear it, but it would still be the truth.
So, you acknowledge being in the 'dumb' category?...Didn't think so.
Not all who bought the game hates it, yet they're still dumb? I do believe I see Belarion's objection. It isn't so different as your disagreement with Para's generalization is it?
I agree with everything else Hyan mentioned about being/not being aware of the game's state when purchased, maybe Belarion just saw that last statement and found it....generalized?!
Well I do just enjoy the game and I am over 12, gues sthat make sme considering some comments a really abd person and let me feel insulted? On the other hand I never botehred much with people that think that much single minded. Better said that see their opinion and subjectivve view as rule for all and consider the rest with other experiences as insane.
Its like their saying were sorry we know we need to change the game we did decide how ot change it before but wait we think we need to change it some other way but we dont know how .
I dont see any changes with this and the improvements that will be made were already coming but this is a PR move to try to save face and whatever customers they still have.
1. Sounds like they didn't fire anyone they demoted and shuffled people around.
2. They replaced their current old fart cronies with other cronies who worked on different FF--- titles. Which in my view they will still hold the same archaic way of thinking and console minded personnel.
3. They didn't hire anyone from outside the company to give the game a fresh look or perspective especially for the western market.(which is what the whole FF series needs to be honest)
4. I think the game has too many deep seeded flaws in core game design that some UI changes and the like will not reinvent the game or bring in droves of people.
My point, the damage is done on the PC version and it will just be a beta test for the PS3 version which is their last gasp on making this a success and getting some money recoup.

Yep... director and producer are like, the least important people when developing a game.
And yes, the producer got axed.
Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

What happened with those 20gb that we would have to download after the end of beta ?
I guess it was another lie of the fanboys "no way they will release the game in this state, they are holding content back"...

I wonder If it's possible to enjoy this game. Just enjoying exploring/crafting and slow leveling?

No kidding. This title should end up on any 2010 failed mmorpg poll, by their own admission, and that of their player-base.
I'd buy it for $10 now.
