i sayd this in other posts too.....its trions own fault.....they gave too much in beta.
they should have stuck with 1 to 20 content and some pvp.....if you want to see more just buy the game.
Now people played half the game and lets face it......you kids get bored realy fast these days, you cant concentrate on ANYTHING for more then an hour or two. You get bored by doing something more then 5 times.
I would suggest to you "bored" people to find something that you can spend your time on.
BTW: i would get bored too if i played 8 hours a day.....but i only play for 1 or 2 hours tops and i never get bored in any of the games i play.
hmmmm to sum it up.....i realy dont care that you are bored anyways.....go read a book or something
I think they're bored because its really no different than most other MMOs out there, not because they are kids, or play 8 hours a day, or did Rifts version of go kill x 5 times...
ok, i can understand that......realy.......i am not just trying to troll or something......maybe those people should go and play another genre of games.
I sometimes switch to racing games just to do something different you know or a good old RTS.
Lets face it.....mmorpg's will all be kinda the same....its the genre.......if bored with something you should try something that you can enjoy, hell sometimes i just install a good old diablo 2 and make a new char just to play something different.
like i sayd......some people are just bored too easy imo.......but thats just me.....but then again, i am never bored....i always find something to enjoy in life
It has nothing to do with being bored too easy at all. It has everything to do with, been there done that. I can agree go play another genre awhile till something different comes out. I myself, picked up a bunch of PS3 games and I m enjoying them alot. That said, all these games that are trying to be similar to WOW, and yes I said WOW, fail to some extent. You can t beat WOW, so stop trying. The little twists each game put in there to be different, are not enough, and people I think will see this and move on from Rift when it really hits home. Don t get me wrong, theres going to be alot of people who like, and stick with Rift, but alot won t. My wife and I really didn t mind Rift in beta1, each beta on we saw what it has to offer , which is really nothing. As the title says "we got bored". Some won t but I can see alot already are, in game and out.
I agree, and would add one more.... People who are currently playing a themepark, and figure why spend the $50 on something they essentially already have.
I agree with what you are saying, the post i quoted/replied to is basically saying they are bored with Rift because they have played it too much in apprx. 2 closed betas, which i find almost silly.
For the same reason that new FPS games still sell, that new RTS games still sell, that new sports game still sell, that expansions for games sell, etc...
Exactly what I was about to write
Good post! Just more people would think of this and not complain all the time

Most FPS, RTS, sports games don't also charge you a monthly fee.
You purchase it, play it for a month (maybe), toss it aside, pick it up in a few weeks/months, play a bit....
I'll bet, for those that play them, a lot of people commit a lot more time and energy to MMOs than single player games.
Not too sure what you are all expecting from these games. I think you are complaining about the spawnrate where the mobs you just killed are all back to where they were when you killed them. When I started playing LotRO I was told to go out and kill some boars to get the meat and the wolves too to cull them. They were back too as I made my way back to Archet granted Rift's concentration of mobs is higher but then those kobolds in the human area of WoW when you first start used to spawn on top of each other at times. Limael's Vineyard in LotRO did it not bother that the grapes that you just harvested was already ready to be picked again and again. Seriously this is your peeve ?
When a game launches running about looking for mobs to kill that are the standard quest is very annoying when you have to wait because every other person in the starter area has killed them off. What exactly did you expect ? Stand around for the mobs to spawn then 10 people all converge on the one mob ? The kind of things you all complain about it is like you never saw this in any other game. Every other game is like this and games that make people queue up to kill a mob is not any more immersive. So in effect you are just tired of the genre. What you are complaining about in Rift seems to be the straw that broke the camel's back only because themepark is themepark is themepark.
In Everquest I had to collect rat tails and the rats would spawn in the exact same spot and walk the exact line to the front of Qeynos or Freeport or Toxxulia except in Tox my Erudite could barely see them in the soup. It is the way these games are.

yeah i feel ya.....i would like to see new groundbreaking things too in newer games, what i dont do is compare everything to something i played b4.
I look at every game on its own.....it might be almost the same as some other game but for me (i am an old school roleplayer) i kinda like the story too.......that with some newer gfx and a good community of people who care, the game offers me what i am looking for.....but enough about just me me me.
As a newbie programmer i realy understand that having an idea in your head and programming it are not always as easy as the "bored and i demand new stuff" forumdwellers think it is.
I dare every one of those "i want to see something realy groundbreaking" to try and develope some game of their own and letting the people on the forums test it......I DOUBLE dare them to try to develope some bugfree game themself..lolz
hmm maybe i am getting a bit too excited here...sorry about that

Are the new games charging a higher monthly fee than what you are currently paying? No? Then it the analogy holds.
Old MMO + $15 Fee = RTS w/o Fee when considering New MMO + $15 Fee = New RTS w/o Fee.
Heck, look at TVs.
Say I had a 32" tube TV. Say I then went out and bought a 32" flat panel - 720p. The TV shows are essentially the same, but I spent money for a better picture (better graphics). Heck, say I then went out and bought a 1080p 32" flat panel. Again, the TV shows are essentially the same, but I spent the money for an even better picture (better graphics). It is possible that during this time (depending on where I lived) that I just stayed with OTA broadcasts or perhaps I had standard cable. The 720p still will provide a better picture over the tube TV. The 1080p will still provide a better picture over the 720p. Without my increasing what I pay a month. Yet still, there is an option for me to spend more for HD content that will look better than the SD content. All of it basically being about spending money for a better picture (better graphics).
So for some, yep - they will spend the $50 to $80 for RIFT, which some consider just to be a WoW-clone... for the better graphics (better picture). Heck, some will go with the Founders Pricing and even reduce their monthly cost so that in the end they will be paying less for those better graphics (better picture)...
...funny how that works, eh?
How many people buy a new car when they do not need a new car? How many people buy a new cell phone when they do not need a new cell phone? Computers? Microwaves? Pretty much anything... we are consumers.
I would spend $50 for a WoW expansion that brought the graphics in line with RIFT, LotRO, AoC, etc, etc, etc. Cause it would be like going from the 13" B&W to something from this century...
...but with RIFT, not only do I get the graphics update - I get the Ascended Class System - I get what I feel are improvements in other areas as well. That leaves me willing to spend $80 for the BCE and to partake in the Founders Pricing that will reduce my overall cost in the end.
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?
I agree, and would add one more.... People who are currently playing a themepark, and figure why spend the $50 on something they essentially already have.

Heh, ok, you're right...
they should all leave the game they are currently playing, pay $50 for what i am seeing as (basically) a graphics upgrade and some PQs, because "everyone" else does it when they buy their TV.
As i said in my original post, i agree with what MMOMaverick said, and added one more to his list (this one), which you seem to be taking as I said is the ONLY reason people get bored/not playing Rift, and that is not what i said.

Mmmkay.
No I think he is saying, step back and think realisticly. And I sure agree with him. With all the whining and trolling as soon as a game comes out or even before it comes out, I for one am tried of it. This will probably be my last post in a while, since I am bored with the ignorant posters on this forum. Dont take this personal I am not speaking about you, but there sure are alot of them on here.
they should all leave the game they are currently playing, pay $50 for what i am seeing as (basically) a graphics upgrade and some PQs, because "everyone" else does it when they buy their TV.
As i said in my original post, i agree with what MMOMaverick said, and added one more to his list (this one), which you seem to be taking as I said is the ONLY reason people get bored/not playing Rift, and that is not what i said.
I was just addressing the part about why people might spend $50 for essentially the same thing they have with prettier graphics. Was not suggesting that they should (btw, I do not own a 1080p TV) - just as a reason why some would.
It was not in regard to why people may have gotten bored playing during the beta. The Boredom Factor is very subjective. You can literally sit down two people and have them argue about two things from alternative perspectives claiming what the other enjoys is boring.
To be blunt, some opinions just do not matter in the discussion. There are people that are bored with themepark MMORPGs. This is a themepark MMORPG. They will be bored with any themepark, so their saying they are bored with this one really does not matter. They are bored with themeparks. There are those that say this game is boring and essentially what they already have. By saying that, they are saying that they are bored with their current game too - and thus - they are likely bored with themeparks.
It reminds me of the FFXIV discussions. They did not hide what kind of game FFXIV was going to be, and for the most part those that paid attention to this were largely happy with what they got. Yet the discussions were riddled with people complaining about what the game was not. Um, hello? It never stated that it was.
Would you go to a Chevy dealership and complain that their new car does not wash dishes? That is the attitude that some people take in discussing games. If Trion had stated that RIFT was going to be a FFA PvP FPS sandbox action MMORPG and then delivered a themepark - it would be one thing.
Where the actual opinions on boredom matter comes from those that enjoy themepark games - those that enjoy other games out there on the market. If they come out en masse and state that contrary to what takes place in those other games, that RIFT is boring... then Trion may need to wake up and listen.
Have we seen that though? Or perhaps have we seen those people that play other games pointing out how they like the direction that Trion has taken with RIFT in certain elements compared to other games? Those that realize that RIFT is not revolutionary, but rather it is evolutionary - much like WoW was when it was first released (evolutionary not revolutionary).
Most of the negative feedback is coming from those with no interest in themepark games that should either not be commenting because it really has nothing to do with what they prefer (I prefer Chevy to Ford, I do not spend my freetime trolling Ford people - I prefer Windows to Mac OSX, and again I do not go around trolling Apple folks - etc, etc, etc) or they are just having a hissyfit that another game is coming out that is not the kind of game they want (which goes back to the petty trolling mentioned previously).
People are, of course, free to share their opinions on things - but again in the end, who cares if a person that finds themeparks boring is bored with a themepark game? Do fans of tween pop really care if I do not like Justin Bieber because I do not like tween pop?
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

I have a couple of friends, honestly not me , and I gave them each a beta key i got from nvidia. They both have active subs to WoW, and play it quit a bit.
They both say they got bored with the game. Is this because they were levelling and seemed to be doing the same old same old? I don't know. Perhaps its because they already have endgame characters in WoW and can easily go back to that... thus avoiding what they might consider a boring part, levelling.
I generally do not care for themeparks, but i found WAR pretty fun. I was actually subbed to it for a quite a while, and consider going back from time to time. I never found WAR "boring", yet i found Rift incredibly boring.
So to say someone who likes themeparks cant find Rift boring, or to say that someone who doesnt "typically" like themeparks find one to be fun, seems a bit odd to me...

If that is what I had said, I would agree that it would be something odd to say. However, since I did not say that; I find that you saying I did...odd.

I don't think that the people who like the current state of WoW will appreciate what Rift has to offer. I believe that people who like Rift liked vanilla WoW better and the coming expansions less and less.
(Personally, I believe that the mechanics of WoW improved with each expansion, but the world feeling deteriorated over time. For example, dual spec was a great addition, the introduction of a space race was not, and so on ...)

I dunno, you seemed to have dismissed an awful lot of folks opinions if they don't care for themparks, or if they like themeparks but find Rift a bit boring, because they must be bored with their current thempark.

The current Bahmi are descended from the interbreeding of the original Bahmi and the Eth. The original Bahmi...were "aliens".
The forums don't like me. Anyway, WoW lore started as high fantasy, where Draenai fit nowhere. Rift is a technopunk world. When Rift shoots its lore in the face, then we'll start talking about similarities.

Some won t but I can see alot already are, in game and out.
yeah i feel ya.....i would like to see new groundbreaking things too in newer games, what i dont do is compare everything to something i played b4.

So you are saying, one has to become a programmer and create a game to have a valid opinion about a consumer product with promised ongoing service attached to it
That's not what I read but ok, I guess we all read posts differently. What I'm hearing is him defending certain things on the basis of being a programmer himself seeing things "from the other side".
A lot of times i have a really hard time understanding that other side. You know the side that often don't offer refunds and charges you full price for things that you will never own and promises the world but delivers little.
So to say someone who likes themeparks cant find Rift boring, or to say that someone who doesnt "typically" like themeparks find one to be fun, seems a bit odd to me...
/shrug
If that is what I had said, I would agree that it would be something odd to say. However, since I did not say that; I find that you saying I did...odd.
"There are those that say this game is boring and essentially what they already have. By saying that, they are bored with their current game too -and thus- they are likely bored with themeparks"
I dunno, you seemed to have dismissed an awful lot of folks opinions if they don't care for themparks, or if they like themeparks but find Rift a bit boring, because they must be bored with their current thempark.
What does the yellow have to do with what you said in red?
Yellow - those complaining that RIFT is boring and that it is essentially what they have...are basically saying they are bored with themeparks.
Red - those that like themeparks cannot find RIFT boring and somebody that does not like themeparks can find one to be fun.
I stated in the actual post that the people Trion needs to be most concerned about in regard to boredom would be those that actually enjoy themeparks. So what was stated in Red is incorrect.
I stated that for those people complaining that RIFT is what they already have and is boring, that they are stating that what they already have is boring too. They have stated RIFT is the same, no? Thus, there issue is most likely themeparks in general. So what was stated in Red does not apply.
As I said...odd.
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

All righty, apologies i misunderstood.
All i'm saying is there are those that play WoW (for example) , that are already playing endgame, that have tried Rift, and found it boring/repetative... repetative to what they already have perhaps, and don't feel a need to purchase it.
Are they bored because they are doing the same fedex, go kill x, quests they seem to have been doing in WoW at the begining, and through all their alts.., i don't know, perhaps. Can they relieve that boredom of levelling up in Rifts beta and playing their already "endgame" character in their current themepark?
Thats the impression i recieved from the two folks i gave keys to.
Perhaps they are bored with part of the thempark (leveling) they already have, and not the entirety (endgame), thus they find (part) of Rift "boring".
again, apologies for misunderstanding your intent.
No matter what, unless you're playing an MMO that is drastically different than the default, you're going to encounter repetition within the game. This is a basic truth, derived from the fact that there is an expectation that you will spend thousands of hours—and for the most diehard fans, thousands of days—logged into the game. If you are participating in pre-scripted content, it's going to involve doing the same things you've done before.
The repetition is nigh unavoidable, so it's not enough to say that Rift's quest system is repetitive and leave it at that. Even the sandboxiest games give you a way to advance your character in some way (whether through skill usage, gear, or conventional levels), and in order to make those advancements feel like accomplishments, they're designed so that it takes time to do them.
The repetitive actions just form a skeleton to fit the rest of the game around, and that is what I feel is lacking. The feeling of a living world just isn't there. So much attention has been paid to the skeleton that they forgot to give it flesh, blood, skin and soul. It's not that doing something over and over is fun, it's the feeling of doing something important, feeling that your toils are good and worthwhile in some way, whether it's good for you, good for your in-game friends, or good for the people of the game world.
I rolled on the Guardian side, and after character creation I was greeted by a clapping NPC addressing me. I had to go AFK for several minutes, and when I returned my chat log showed that NPC addressing each new character that had just started the game. It immediately made me feel like my character was less special, less of an individual in a believable world. It's a minor forgivable offense of course, but it was a strong sign of things to come. Over the course of the next several quest hubs, the feeling just intensified.
"We are under attack. The enemy's forces are great and their principles are so misguided that they would unmake the world rather than help us save it. Go kill 6 of them, that ought to be enough." Even before I've killed all 6, which isn't even 2 minutes work, the first one has already respawned. As I'm told to go collect 4 Whatevers and deliver them to the next hub, it's clear that I'm leaving the area the same way that I found it. Nothing that I have done has made any difference. I was told that we're in desperate need of help, and told to go away after 2 minutes of "helping". At the next hub, "Thank you for the Whatevers. Now kill 5 of this other type of guy." 2 minutes work. "Excellent. Go destroy 3 of their torture machines." The 5 guys I killed are, of course, back. The torture machines spawn a little freed citizen to echo a hallow "Thank you" after they're destroyed, and by the time I'm doing the final quest of that hub, they're all back and electrocuting innocents at full power again. I can't destroy more of them, of course, because I'm no longer on that quest. "Go destroy 4 of these glowing orbs 30 feet away, even though they will respawn before you make it back up the hill to turn in the quest." ESC, Quit Game, uninstall.
If you're a fan of the game then this is going to seem like I'm pointlessly nitpicking, especially since I'm complaining about the throwaway noob area that you're only supposed to play for 2 hours and then leave without ever looking back. But for me, it was indicative of how the rest of the game was going to play out. NO attempt was made to disguise the pointlessness of hopping from one quest hub to another, performing futile tasks that obviously do nothing to affect the world at the request of stock immobile NPCs. No attempt was made to disguise the blatant "move on to the next hub" delivery quests. No attempt was made to fill the world with NPCs that simply talk instead of vending goods or vomiting quests, nor mobs that fill a function other than that of a quest objective. No attempt was made to disguise the point-based achievement system as anything other than just another progress bar to fill. I felt as though I was playing a game developed by an autistic person who could see what people enjoyed (or at least tolerated) in other MMOs but could not grasp why they would want to do them.
This is where hopefully GW2 will slam the ball out of the park and make a homerun.
GW2's dynamic event system has the potential to allow players to feel like they're really affecting the world, at least until the events cycle back to the same stages all over again. But by then, hopefully you can move on to new events within the zone or new zones entirely.
On the other hand, GW2 doesn't look like it will do much to alleviate the sense that your character is just another average Joe, the same as all of those players around you. On the other hand, in depth phasing systems and strong personal content can effectively generate a sense of individual importance. SW:ToR looks like it should do a good job at that. Modern WoW is actually very effective at this. Questing in WoW is largely a personal experience nowadays. Each time I complete a zone's quest chain and wrap up the zone's story (and each zone now does have a nice continuous story to it), I'm definitely left with the sense that my character had a profound effect on the events of the zone. To accentuate this, if my character ever returns to that zone and speaks with the npcs there, he will be addressed as a hero: "Well if it isn't Homitu, our liberator! You're welcome to rest in my inn for as long as you like, free of charge of course!"
That sense of personal importance is increased with your level. After 3 expansions, it is rather rewarding to enter the new Cataclysm zones to greetings from the likes of Thrall, who explains something along the lines of, "It's good to see you, Homitu. I knew you'd heed my call. I'm being pushed to my limits out here, fighting to control this Maelstrom. I need you to go inside and discover what's causing this disturbance before it's too late. Go quickly! I'm not sure how long I harness this chaos!" Me and Thrall kicking ass as equals! Every time I am addressed as a renowned hero of Azeroth, I am flooded with recollection and context involving all of my character's accomplishments: Vanquishing Rag, Nef, and C'thun in classic. Server first Kael, Vashj, Archimonde and Illidan kills in BC. Becoming a Kingslayer and Starcaller in WotlK. Regardless of whatever criticisms WoW might receive, it does do a good job at creating context and making you feel like a badass hero.
Despite disliking almost everything about FFXI, I also thought that game did a decent job of making your character feel important through your nation's rank 1-10 missions and the CoP missions (last time I played was during Chains of Promathia). Your character is present in all of the story-driving cutscenes, although he's usually just a silent witness, rather than an active participant. Nevertheless, I felt like I was there, present for some of the most important events to unfold in Vana'diel's history.
Hopefully GW2's personal story will contain some of these elements as well.
The forums don't like me. Anyway, WoW lore started as high fantasy, where Draenai fit nowhere. Rift is a technopunk world. When Rift shoots its lore in the face, then we'll start talking about similarities.
Where to start? Where to start? How about the simple stuff, eh? Nah, it is never simple and I have some pretty long posts out there on how bad the lore is handled in RIFT.
Let me go grab a ciggy first, this may take some time to type up again (or I could just hunt down my other posts on it).
K, I'm going to go with this:
The Dwarves and the Eth.
The Dwarves sealed off Hammerknell because of the dark aspects of the runecrafting technology. Spirits of the dead were bound to machines. The Dwarves jointed the Guardians as a means of seeking redemption.
What on Telara does this have to do with the Eth? Well, you see - much like the Dwarves, Eth technology fell into the wrong hands. Cultists got their hands on it, blah, blah, blah. The Eth Empire collapsed. Rather than risking that technology falling into anybody's hands - they buried the technology. Yet here the Eth are...as Defiant and working to use technology? Ummm, k... sounds more like it would be the cultists that would be doing this. Making the Defiant sound more like a NPC Faction rather than a PC Faction.
What about the Bahmi? Why are they Defiant? Well, two reasons. As elemental shamanists, they did not see eye to eye with the High Elves with their Gods and the Vigil. So it would not make sense for them to be Guardians. Also, the Eth were the only group that really accepted them - so it makes sense that they would go with the Eth (even as it makes no sense that the Eth went where they have).
What about the Kelari? Again, we have those pesky repressive High Elves working as enforcers for the Gods. The Kelari were defiant. Not technologically defiant - just defiant of the hierarchy that the High Elves and Gods were trying to place upon the world. The Kelari believed in an equality. So while they obviously do not belong with the Guardians and are defiant...they are just not Defiant.
So, obviously we know where the High Elves fit into everything - the right hand of the Gods and all. What about the Mathosians? Well, they spent the longest time with the Elves (one might quip they are but the puppets of the High Elves as far as the "humans" on Telara go). But how about those Dwarves again? Before the truth about their devices came out, the Dwarves were welcome among all peoples. One could see how they would want to avoid the Eth, Bahmi, and Kelari and the Defiant machines while seeking redemption. But wait, it does not make sense that the Eth would be using the machines... ugh, getting confused. What on Telara is Trion trying to do here?
Okay, so step back a moment.
Try this instead:
Guardians - High Elves and Mathosians. Simple, fine - works like a charm. There may be some bad Mathosians that show up as NPCs (after all, we had the Shade War).
Defiant - uh, remove the technology stuff. Just make it about religious freedom as opposed to a sense of oppression offered by the High Elves and Mathosians. BAM! The Eth, Bahmi, and Kelari all easily fall into place. Of course there will be some bad Eth (and thus Bahmi) that show up as NPCs (remember those cultists).
What about the Dwarves? Well, given the change from the "old Defiant" and the "new Defiant" - they would be likely candidates to create characters for either side.
Do you want another trippy thought in regard to the Defiant and their rejection of the Gods? How do you explain Defiant Clerics using "Holy" power...?
The befuddled lore in RIFT is probably the worst thing about the game. I do my best to ignore it while playing the game so I can enjoy it, because it really is a fun game....
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?
It is a pity you got bored, I can see that happening. I have played every single major released game since back in the day of muds and bbs "online" games. Some I got bored with rather quickly other not so much.
People constantly compare games to WoW, I never saw anything in WoW that was original design that was not pulled from some other game and just cosmetically updated. I liked WoW but got bored with it mainly because there was only 1 path to uber-dom per class type...I have gone back to it a few times, unless you have x-gear or x-spec etc etc. I heard Cata did some good things but honestly nothing will ever keep me playing with the majority of the idiots who populate that game.
Rift, its similar to all the other mmo's, little is original. The rifts are pretty nice to me adds a WTF aspect to the game. The souls builds are pretty sweet, I done nothing much but screw with soul-building, I love it, I have come up with some really screwed up combinations that just kick ass for me so that is an aspect I like a lot.
do I think that in the end it will have same type of crap that WoW with everyone look like clones and all have the same skills? It could happen quite easily, but name 1 game that blends theme-park with sandbox(ish) that is fantasy based genre? I have not found any since AC which I used to love but the graphics today make me kind of sick so I do not play it. I want a complex game that I have to really think to play/design my toon...(I love EVE, if it was faster paced for toon building I would play it more, but sitting for 20-30days for some lvl5 to complete is a pain in the ass.) I am sure there will be uber templates etc but its a new game and I do not hard core play since I have little time anymore in my old age, so this game works for me.
I hope that you find something you like playing and enjoy spending time on. Because in the end its all about personal enjoyment.
Happy Hunting!
You know you are old when the dev's on the games you play are almost young enough to be your grand-kids.
I've already replied you regarding defiants and clerics. You probably didn't notice it. As for the rest of the lore, I'll delve into it when the game launches. There is one thing reading it off a webpage (although EVE was cool on that regard), and another to see it unfold in the world. I'll let you know if I find any glaring inconsistencies.
All i'm saying is there are those that play WoW (for example) , that are already playing endgame, that have tried Rift, and found it boring/repetative... repetative to what they already have perhaps, and don't feel a need to purchase it.

again, apologies for misunderstanding your intent.
No need to apologize in the least, and that is a very valid point. It is a very valid point. There is a major difference to be found there in the destination and journey discussion. For that, I should offer my own apology for being overly dismissive and not thinking things through as you did here.
I got too hung up on the forest and did not see the trees.
Definitely people that are enjoying their current themepark game could find RIFT (or any other game for that matter) boring because of having to go through that leveling process again. As a person that prefers the journey instead of the destination, my narrowmindedness blinded me to those that would see this as no different than having to level another toon in their current game. (In WoW, I had one 85, four 80s, three toons in their 70s, two in their 60s, and a couple more in their 40s that I was leveling up - definitely a journey guy and not a destination guy)
So I definitely apologize for not seeing that possibility.
In the end, I suppose what I should have simply said is that it does not matter as much that a person says they are bored - as to what they find boring and why they find boring. In dismissing generalizations, I made one of my own... seriously, my bad.
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?
Guys/Girls stop knocking the people that call it a wow clone....i am 37 years old and lets be honest they are not far of! yes the rifts are a war clone but most of everything else is very similar to wow. Why take it as an insult? wow is still the biggest game out.
Not my cup of tea but i can still see it is similar! sorry if that bugs you all

Heh, ok, you're right...
they should all leave the game they are currently playing, pay $50 for what i am seeing as (basically) a graphics upgrade and some PQs, because "everyone" else does it when they buy their TV.
As i said in my original post, i agree with what MMOMaverick said, and added one more to his list (this one), which you seem to be taking as I said is the ONLY reason people get bored/not playing Rift, and that is not what i said.
So you are saying, one has to become a programmer and create a game to have a valid opinion about a consumer product with promised ongoing service attached to it
Mmmkay.
No I think he is saying, step back and think realisticly. And I sure agree with him. This will probably be my last post in a while, since I am bored with the ignorant posters on this forum. Dont take this personal I am not speaking about you, but there sure are alot of them on here.

/shrug
If that is what I had said, I would agree that it would be something odd to say. However, since I did not say that; I find that you saying I did...odd.

I don't think that the people who like the current state of WoW will appreciate what Rift has to offer. I believe that people who like Rift liked vanilla WoW better and the coming expansions less and less.
(Personally, I believe that the mechanics of WoW improved with each expansion, but the world feeling deteriorated over time. For example, dual spec was a great addition, the introduction of a space race was not, and so on ...)
