Hopefully they improve the animations in SWTOR, especially the combat animations. The running while shooting animations look downright retarded. The art style is a matter of taste. I prefer GW2's art style but again, just a matter of preference.
The thing about the animations in SW:ToR is that the the transition between seems to go quite smooth so far, and ofcourse, lightsabers clashing against each other is also very well done. I don't see it happening in GW2 though, I believe the time between actions is too short to do something similar with the animations.
I am confused. The animations in SWTOR look like complete garbage. Unless hitchy, glitchy, teleporting crap is what you call good? I see a lot more bad animations in the SWTOR videos than any GW2 video I have seen.
As I said, not X-Blades direction. Which is the chain-mail bikini without the chain. And the mail. And most of the bikini.
But look at these:
I'm not saying they're sexist or anything like that.
But it seems to me that Kirsten is working primarily as a sort of fashion designer. It's mainly about armors that people wear in their fantasies as opposed to what armors people would wear in a fantasy world.
While, from my impressions, SWToR is going more in a direction of what people in the Star Wars world would wear, opposed to what people wear in their Star Wars fantasies.
Not to say that there won't be impractical outfits in SWToR or practical ones in GW2. But it does seem to me that the design decisions are diffirent.
GW2 seems much more likely to add armors that look great but do break immersion somewhat. While SWToR is much more likely to add armors that only look good but really add to the immersion.

I dunno, I'm all for practical ladies and all, but, to me, this has the sex appeal of a lady with a mustache, knitting. I mean, its not particularly enticing, but somehow, looks right, and is comforting.
A lady with mustache looks right, and is comforting?
Guess tastes differ :P.
More seriously: I've never been attracted to the more showy ( or slutty ) girls.
But just means less competition. You guys can have the big boobs, short skirts and big asses.
I'll take the nice and comforting girl, I'll pass on the mustache though if you don't mind.
To bring this slightly on-topic:
I personally greatly prefer the SWToR females over the GW2 ones we've seen so far. SWToR seems to be going for a much more practical Alyx Vance style.
GW2 doesn't actually seem to going in a say X-Blades direction but it seems to be going less for practical armors and more for fashion statements with some T&A thrown in.
Nothing wrong with that. But as I said, I greatly prefer female characters like Alyx Vance.
Well, you have to understand, that a lady with a mustache KNITTING just seems right, and I'm comforted that she found her knack for something. I might watch her knit for a bit, bewildered by it, but I wouldn't... touch her... platonically or otherwise.
Between the two, I kind of have mixed feelings. I like the armor design on both games almost equally, though Jedi Robes were never really interesting to me.
The best part about the SW:TOR vs GW2 battle is that you don't have to choose.
Since GW2 is only buy-2-play, you can easily pay for SW:TOR's sub fee and play both.
They're completely different games with different themes and different playstyles, they are so different that an apples/oranges analogy isn't good enough. It's more like comparing Badgers and Screwdrivers.
Didn't see the penis at first. But it's impossible to miss now. Intentional? Subconscious decision?
And this picture is something that is a really hate in MMOs. You've got this entire fantasy world and then suddenly there's someone walking around with modern glasses and a modern nighty, or any type of modern clothing for that matter.

Not really fond of the above pics however I'd say TOR is going more into the direction of what WoW characters would wear not what SW ones would.

Honestly I think any game that has characters that look like Blade and Soul (see below) are going to be pretty shallow.
Does anyone else see the penis in the background?
EDIT:
I mean come on really...
Yeah, the exagerated proportions of those boobs take away from the awesome use of color, detail, composition and lighting. That is a very nice piece of art, imo.
p.s. Even the tiger on her dress thinks it's a little over the top, judging its facial expression
I haven't seen any carwheel-sized shoulder pads yet in ToR screenshots so as far as I'm concerned it's leaving WoW well enough alone. Nor any insane particle effects for that matter.
As to those armor lineups:
They're not bad. But you can't tell me those masks are there to increase immersion. They're there to look good, whether or not they'd actually be practical/immersive or not. And I fully realise that trooper helmets probably aren't in the least bit practical with the very narrow visors but they do greatly improve the Star Wars immersion.
Same thing for the "barbarian"-style heavy armour.
I'm not saying GW2 is going the LOLOL REA-WHAT? way. But the focus clearly is does it look cool? Above does it look immersive?
Doesn't mean they immediatly throw immersion out of the window. But it does mean that it doesn't seem to be their first priority.
I personally prefer immersion over everything looking cool. In my opinion SWToR is catering better to that style. Doesn't mean SWToR won't have cool armors but it doesn't look like the priority. Immersion first, cool looks second.
GW2 seems to be going cool looks first and immersion second. I think the rather large amount of modern-day fashion that's subtly leaking through is proof of that alone ( nothing wrong with that, just not my personal preference. )

You know, some people do have boobs that are quite big. It's pretty rare, but it does happen. Secondly, Blade and Soul is a fantasy. I EXPECT fantastical things to exist in its universe. Like, when I see a Dragon in GW2, I'm sure it won't break the immersion because Dragons don't exist. Every world should have its own logic, but to play a fantasy game you have to suspend your own disbelief and accept the vision of the game.

Only your third picture comes anywhere near crazy sizes. And that's quite an old screenshot so my guess would be that those were placeholders ( just look at the amount of detail on that armor there compared to the other armors. )
And still not seeing any crazy particle effects.

Hmmm, I don't know, I'm looking at this picture and the shoulderpads of the 2nd and 4th warrior are looking kinda big as well:
And in (newer) pictures like these I can't find much WoW resemblance in outfit, to be honest:
But it seems that you've some shoulderpad fetish, since every 3 or 4 posts regarding SWTOR, you're returning to the topic of SWTOR shoulderpads or clown outifits, no matter what the topic is, you'll find your way to slip in your focused interest with them. Ah well, to each their own
The ease with which predictions are made on these forums: Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."
I think it's the bright colors and general color arrangement in the SWTOR armor that makes the comparisons to wow. Although to me it looks more like a colorful borderlands than wow.

Hyung-Tae Kim is an amazing artist! he's REALLY, really good.
... he's kind of a freak with the way he proportions women, but that doesn't mean he's not a good artist, it just means he has a freaky style.
I'm actually impressed with how well the game manages to replicate his art style (Toned down quite a bit though). Better than any other MMORPG I can think of at replicating the character designer's style. Probably helps that he's also a 3D modeler, and he did some of the original 3D modeling for the characters too. I think usually that's two totally separate jobs.

Here's a man who hasn't done his research on Guild Wars 2.
Personally, I'm more looking forward to GW2. TOR seems like any other generic MMO, to me. At least Arenanet is innovating.
... in certain distinct area's, just like Bioware with Swtor, in fact.
Saying one is more innovating than the other would be blatant fanboyism at this time.

I didn't like the combat in GW. Don't know if GW2 will be similar, but GW just felt like a zerg.
Prefer the trinity set up in SWTOR.
I'd like to see things move beyond the trinity... in theory. But in practice, I do fear that it will end up being a zerg.
For me its a no brainer too, GW2 WvWvW is the closest thing to DAOCs RvR I have yet to see.
-edit lol what a flamebait thread. When I first started reading it was at 4 pages, then quickly 8 now its at 41...
