Dont regret any mmo's tbh. In general they give you more entertainment value than any other genres.
Buying Brink without trying it out first was a big mistake. Was interesting for a couple of hours but then meh...
Yeah Brink was pretty bad. I think mine was FFXIV as far as MMOS's go. I caught it on sale at least and knew what to expect so I wasn't burned too bad.
Vanguard - uber fail launch (it's ok now but way too late and no longer supported by SOE)
Rift - it was more fun in beta than when it went live IMHO
Most games I do not resub after the first month. Only EQ, EQ2, and WoW held my attention for long periods of time. And I haven't played any of those games in a couple of years. TOR and GW2, please do not let me down!
Rift isn't a bad game, you guys were burnt out on WoW. So really, you guys were the problem. I am 'meh'ing on it though, I can barely bring myself to log in enough for my guild to not get rid of me.
I hadn't played WoW or any MMO heavily for 6 months prior to Rift's release.
It was still bloody awful. Playing WoW now makes me realise how stupid I was to even begin to think that Rift was any good.
So: Rift, EQ2, Aion, CoX, LOTRO's expansions.
RIFT was a *crushing* disappointment; a shallow, loveless, generic MMO the likes of which hasn't been seen in a P2P format since, well, forever.
It's amusing that the very game that Fury was, is more of what people are playing and asking for these days but it really didn't get anywhere when it came out.. Partly due to balance issues as well as lack of interest at the time it released..
It also suffered from a few bugs, but they were fixing them pretty quickly.. I don't know, i feel like I didn't get my money's worth out of it before it crashed to the ground..
You can also add Aion to this list..
There are still some people who swear that Aion is not a dressed up F2P game with a P2P price tag, I beg to differ..
I forgot to do research and ended up buying more then just Gw's to play it.Got the xpacs all of them. logged in and was like..oh crap is this really an MMO? Bah dam debit card wont let me take back buys unless i go through a ton of red tape. Then not knowing i had to write down my toons name to log back in left me at the will of support for like 2 days even when i wanted to try it more.
I now regret not doing the research like i should have and always do first.
The only time I truly regretted buying a game was this year. DCUO. What intensified my buyer's remorse feeling was that a friend also bought the game to play with me. Never again!
Spore - seems really great but holy crap was this game a turd
Sims 3 - I like the Sims didn't play the second one but the third one was just dull, I am over the Sims I guess
Just Cause 2 - I should have just stuck to the demo, it was the best part
Mass Effect 2 - The first one was ok the second one I don't give a crap
Red Dead Redemption - bird shooting minigame snoozefest
Dragon Age Origins - OMG so boring, I never even bothered with the second one
Never Winter Nights 2 - Never played NWN but the editor looked really cool, the editor is good but the game is aweful
But I probably regret spore the most because I was REALLY looking forward to it and it was sooo bad.
BLIMEY
Your choices are mostly just... weird.
Mass Effect 2 and Red Dead Redemption are THE best games of 2010, and RDR is personally in my top 5 favorite games of all time on any platform (top is SWG pre-CU).
Btw this "quote" stuff worked better before, can't write beyond this box.
I know most wouldn't agree with my pick, but I just couldn't ever get to enjoying Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. Perhaps I bought it past its prime and it kind of felt like a game everyone was hyping just to much that didn't deliver for me...kind of like movies that are overhyped and don't live up to the build-up you set yourself up for. I understand why many people like it, I just didn't. I liked Morrowind though.
The MMO that kind of let me down the most was Aion. Again, I just overhyped myself and it never really delivered for me. Not saying it was a bad game, just not something I could withstand for a long period of time like some of the others I've played.
I know most wouldn't agree with my pick, but I just couldn't ever get to enjoying Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion.
Morrowind and Oblivion both for me. I bought Morrowind a year after release and thought that's why I didn't like it at all. Then I tried Oblivion when it was brand new and liked it even less!
I'd also add to that list Bioshock, Fallout 3, and every Blizzard game ever made (I kept bying them because my friends say they're so awesome, lesson learned.)
Edit: Oh I almost forgot my biggest regret.... Left4Dead. Bought it knowing it was a small game after hearing promises from the developers that they were going to expand the game, release more maps and weapons and keep building onto it. What did they do instead? Released Left4Dead 2 with a full $50-60 price tag. Never bought the second one and never played the first again.
As for MMO games, the only one I regret buying would be FFXIV. But, don't we all regret that? Especially Squre-Enix.

I'm not leaving this post with only 1. All 3 of these were equally bad and I would gladly have my money back:
Mortal Online
Xsyon
Earthrise
That's the last time I buy Indy games before trying them.

RIP Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan and Paul Gray.
WAR - fail launch

Lots of very forgettable Atari and NES purchases back in the days, I tend to be a bit more wary about my purchases now
Champions Online
FFXIV - (Actually, as much of a stinker as it was I did get my money's worth because I found a great community to play with)
I'm really suprised so many people hate Rift, WAR, and Guild Wars. I can't imagine how you couldn't get your money's worth of enjoyment out of those.
of all the games I regret getting, I would choose the following:
WOW - Wasted too much time and money on it, and after looking back, nothing but a regret.
Vanguard - I halfway regret it, I like the game, just wish Sony had actually supported it and tried with it.
DDO - I regret buying it as its free 2 play now... =(
Final Fantasy XI - This game was just not for me.
There are probably more, but im at work and my brain hurts.
STO,Rift,CO and WoW .
Aion. Expensive and utterly useless game..
Warhammer, because i was led to believe it would have good pvp.
I hadn't played WoW or any MMO heavily for 6 months prior to Rift's release.

Eagerly awaiting: World of Darkness, ArcheAge.
Has to be a fun little game called Fury..

Aion
For me, it's probably a tie between Age of Conan and Final Fantasy XIV.
Both were terrible in their own ways. AoC wasn't anything close to what Funcom promised, and FFXIV was just plain bad in almost every way imaginable.
Honorable mention goes to DCUO - just an unbelieveably shallow and limited game.
Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.
I know I will get flamed for this hehe...Guidwars

I can't think of just one,
Spore - seems really great but holy crap was this game a turd
Sims 3 - I like the Sims didn't play the second one but the third one was just dull, I am over the Sims I guess
Just Cause 2 - I should have just stuck to the demo, it was the best part

All men think they're fascinating. In my case, it's justified
The Force Unleashed. God. Even though I paid almost nothing for it, what a waste of hard drive space.
What intensified my buyer's remorse feeling was that a friend also bought the game to play with me.
Never again!
Single player - Dragon Age II
MMO- Mortal Online
Final Fantasy XIV
By far the worst game I have ever purchased, and it figures that it was also my first collector edition too. Grrr...
Age of Conan (aka Age of Casters)

AoC and WAR. I've been very careful ever since, never buying anything without trying it first.

Obsidians take on elder scrolls: Battlespire.
It was a great idea with huge dungeon for up to 6 players in the same world as the great game "Daggerfall" but it was really bad, really really bad.
Obsidian is one of the worst companies out there making bad sequels to ther companies games, but Battlespire was bad even by their standards.
I have been playing computer games since 1984 (longer if you count arcade machines) so I seen a lot.
