MMO - Star Trek Online. I still cannot believe how much 'good' stuff they have in their c-store that is only available through purchase and this is while you are paying a subscription! I'm on the fence with cash-shops in games, but this game far exceeds any others for suckering people.
Single Player - I'm dating myself here, but I remember once playing one of the King's Quest games, I think it was KQ V. Anyway, you are playing the role of King Arthur, and you start off perfectly safe in your castle. You run around, talk to a few npc's, and then head out into the world to start questing. Upon leaving MY castle the portcullis drops on me and my horse insta-killing us. Whaaaat?! Apparently, I had to tell one of my tower guards not to do that? I uninstalled the game on the spot.
DCUO. I beta tested the game, knew better. Still bought it. I wish I could blame it on substance abuse or something, but it was just a plain dumb purchase.
for one, most MMORPGs are a waste of money - From AAA titles like DC Universe, Age of Conan, Warhammer Online, Star Trek online to 'i should have known better' titles like Xyson and Alganon.
Well on the MMO side their is Tabula Rasa (quite literaly played for 10 minutes), FFXI (lasted a little longer) and Xyson (bought it and never played it).
My biggest disapointments were Brink (NOT a single player game), Driver 3 (obviously) and many others I have purged from memory.
Bartoni's Law definition: As an Internet discussion grows volatile, the probability of a comparison involving Donald Trump approaches 1.
I pre-order Mortal Online and played for about 7 minutes. And Dc universe Played about 7 characters in tutorial, and never past the safehouse. And like one of the gamers that posted ahead of me Brink, disappointed...
The former because I despised the way the controls worked for keyboard and mouse users- otherwise from what I've heard it would have been my dream game. The latter because it was just a pos, and the best time I had in it was the character creator.
I enjoyed getting to max level in Aion but just found myself too burnt out on the game by that time to start decking my toon out and quit.I wouldnt call it a *stinker* though but can understand why many people do.
I really really wanted WAR to do well. From the second i started seeing how amazing the concept art was i assumed it would be an amazing game ....big mistake.
I was also hyped for LOTR when i bought that but only played a few hours.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. Not that I am a prude, but it was like 20 swear words in the first 5 minutes of gameplay. Just turned me completely off.
Considering the games setting and that its actually an outstanding game, I'd say that's a safe estimation.

I consider Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines to be one of the BEST GAMES I ever bought. Guess that just goes to show how different we all are.

Auto Assault and Tabula Rasa.
Don't get me wrong I enjoyed both games but they closed not long after release.
Aion
I guess most know why this is my choice.
(maybe to liste the opposite, the game i got the most out of: Guild Wars)
Vanguard Saga of Heroes, full price preorder. /facepalm
Age of Conan full price preorder another /facepalm
a Ton of Steam indie games that were so cheap I got them anyway and are now sitting on my cyber Steam shelf.
MMO: GW1 for sure
Single player: NWN2 and Oblivion
For MMO's it would be a close tie between
The Matrix Online or Horizons. Both were boring beyond words, clunky, repetative and unfinished. Could have been great, but that goes for every mmo.
Star Wars Battlefronts for non-mmos still pisses me off to this day.
WoW for a ton of reasons
Auto Assault - even the headset that came with it broke in a few days.
Sword of the New World - no idea wtf I was thinking on that one.
Warhammer
EQ2
Aion
Age of Conan
Lord of the Rings
I"m sure there is more.
DCUO. I beta tested the game, knew better. Still bought it. I wish I could blame it on substance abuse or something, but it was just a plain dumb purchase.
I don't mean to laugh at your misfortune, but that is funny.
QQ - I liked Auto Assault
where do i even start!

i spend a shitload of money on DS games as well.
That's easy. Aion.

Shadowbane. I played for literally 2 hours before uninstalling.
Aion Collectors Edition - 70 bucks for a plastic toy and a dumbass game
I can't believe this thread is still going. LOL. But I guess everyone does have a story for a stinker. lol.
FFXI & Champions Online.

D&D Online i did not even give a fighting chance.
FFIV CE Edition.
What a waste of almost $90.
Star trek DAC I can't believe they let em put the name on it. would be an f even on old nintendo machines.
