Any topic that focuses on sexualising children is bound to make people nuts and if it didn't i will begin questioning the society i live in. Yes world is a wretched place but i always keep hope that a lot of good people are still around who are concrened by topics like these.

i think these are the images that some people are complaining about. I personally don't have an issue with this content, but whether it stays in or gets taken out won't change the fact that i'm giving this game a try.
Would I be gay if I could appriciate the body of a naked man? or when a female find the body of an other female beautiful lesbian? I do not believe so. I do not believe someone is a pedophile if he likes the body of a yougher person (Unless having sexual feelings). Even if there are sexual feeling that is something we can not control, no-one has to hang because of it. If someone act's upon those feelings (something we CAN control), then yes...burn them at the stake.
EDIT: reading your part again, your right when someone feels the need or is attracted to a underaged body then they are a pedo (especially if it's obvious the girl/boy is underaged). Still disagree they should be hanged for just those feelings and think that is a bit harse. Maybe if I have kids of my own my opinion of this would change.
Anyhow do not get me wrong. If I had kids I would not let them close to someone who like to see kids nude. I myself am slighty appalled by that idea.
Anyhow to topic at hand. Those people who see child porn in the Elin race are discusting! I have seen some video's now and NOTHING make me think about kids or porn when I see them. If you one of the people who directly thinks about child porn when seeing a Elin then maybe it is time you go to a docter. I really do not understand it, maybe I am looking at different images/movies though and there already redesigned in these.

But isn't that hypocritical? Yes, yes it is.
But there exists certain inalienable moral standards that exist outside of any specific, narrowly defined religious or political doctrine.
Things like "killing people is bad" and "sex with children is wrong."
While some of these things may not technically be illegal in one sense or another, it is still wrong and must be combated by civilized societies. Who then decides what is "wrong" and must be fought against?
Religion? Politicians? A democratic majority? All of these things have proven fallible throughout history with the many attrocities commited by various religious groups and governments.
So then who is "right?" Whomever can speak the loudest and most often and swing enough support to their ideology.
But who is REALLY right, in terms of a definite, absolute morality?
As an atheist, I really don't have an answer to that.

If something about a game/film/book/whatever offends you, don't patronize it with your money or time. Rant about them if it makes you feel better. But do not judge or demonize other people you have never met. I personally do not care for the anime art style, but I'm not offended by people who do. And I'm sure as hell not arrogant enough to beleive that knowing a person likes said are style gives me enough data or the right to do some deep seated freudian analysis on them.
Some of the accusations and logic by posters here is just as ridiculous as saying that because one psychotic knobhead in Oslo happened to play Wow and other games containing violence, then all players of said games must be raging mass murderers in training and these kinds of games should be sanitized or banned. And yes IT IS the exact same argument, to those you that I'm sure just got pissed off.
If some skimpy clothing and fey cartoon characters in a video game can make a person into a sexual degenerate and/or a pedophile, then by your own warped and frustated logic these games must be just as capable of turning a sane and rational person into a homocidal maniac.

i actually laughed when i saw a vid on youtube with the weird music goin on. I dont really see these as pedo, now if they didnt have panties that'd be another issue. But i can see why some uptight ppl might freak out, even though they're so much more worst stuff thats gettin brainwashed to ppl through media in the states.
A kid of 8 most likely did not had the freedom to express that she did not wanted to participate (she/he would not even know what is going on). That is why it's illigal and that is why it's not hypocritical. In most countries the age to consent is about 16 I believe, when most people understand what it is and when they actually can say no to it. I am happy that in my country the watching of it is now also illigal (before it was just creating and selling it). Those people should be HELPED with there problem and be kept a close eye on.

Part of the reason the hypocrisy exists is that pornography has never been legally defined. It can't be, it's too subjective. There is no line in the sand that you have to cross "This is Porn / This is Not".

Same reason we (in the US) have animal cruelty laws and such, have to give a voice to those who have none.
I've seen the videos and the screen shots, and to be honest.. meh? Not really that big of a deal -
However, that being said, I'd feel very embarassed if someone walked in and saw me playing a game with toon's like that, they'd think I was a pedo.
So you have to give yourself the "awkward" test.
Could you look at screen shots and/or video of these characters in front of your co-workers, family, and friends without being uncomfortable, embarassed, and creeping them out slightly?
If the answer is no, then it's probably not appropriate content for whatever society you reside in.

So you want a realistic mmo that depicts tanks in full plate armor medieval style, ok no woman except joanne of arc you will see wearing that armor.

Tera is a fantasy game like many other mmos.
So why aren't you guys crazy outraged by women who are 18+ who have the body of 10-12 year old girls being able to make as much pornn as they want? You really think NONE of the people watching that are imagining the woman as a little girl? That is far FAR worse than pixels who look 'young' on a video game yet I don't see proclaimations of people needing to be hanged for not objecting to it.
Don't want this stuff in 'your' video game? Fine then don't make this your video game. You do not have the right to not be offended.

I dunno, I think they look kinda fun and cute. I find the overall art style attractive (or rather, pleasing to the eye, because it doesn't do anything for me on a sexual level).
Thing is, taking this kind of stuff out of the game isn't going to make a pedophile any less of a pedophile, just the same as leaving it in won't make a pedophile any more of a pedophile.
In fact, I'd venture that letting a pedo get his jollies from watching pixelated cat-girls is probably doing society a favour. If he's oggling this, at least he isn't oggling child pornography, and thus increasing the demand for such abuse.
Now, this next bit might shock some people, but I am not, by default, against 'child sexuality'. I am neither for it, though. It holds no interest or attraction for me. What I am against is ANY activity that inhibits a person's right to choose, and make an informed decision. Any act that takes away another human being's right or ability to choose is the highest of all sins.
But back to the point. Having seen the screenshots, it does look a bit cynical of the designers. Without knowing just how much Elin armour is 'tasteful', it kinda looks like they're marketting that race dangerously close to the line.
Surely they could have given the race cutsey armour without them having to run around in their undies.
The point isn't even that they are running around in armoured knickers. What's the lore behind them dressing like this? If there isn't any, then just give 'em bloody pantaloons and dresses or something!

Being an atheist has nothing to do with morality. It exists independent of the other. As long as you feel guilt, remorse and pain for others you are quite capable of differentiating between right and wrong. I am not even religious and 4 years back i ended up with 12 stitches in my head because i decided to help a woman being attcked by 4 teenagers. I don't need to be religious to understand that it was the right thing to do. Something are just wrong and depicting children in sexual manner is one of them. I guess this is what seperates us from insane/pyshcos and degenerates..this abillity to differentitate between what is wrong and what is right.
It's not just "calling it pedophilia" to be extreme or anything. It is a whole other issue than the normal sex in video games thing. How is it that some people can't get that through their heads? If you think pedophilia is just a harsh word for healthy sexuality, you need serious help.
The way I see it, there's nothing wrong with encouraging normal sexuality, with gratuitous imagery and such. And even if there were, censoring it wouldn't change anything. It'd just frustrate a lot of people who like something that is healthy and pretty much just way people are.
Sexualizing a little kid-like race, though? That encourages a blurring of lines that isn't healthy at all. One could make a case for it being somewhat normal, moreso in some cultures than others, but the problem is that it's dangerous and harmful. As society evolves, we've learned to protect children for a reason, and that can include steering away from portraying them that way, in any medium.
That isn't puritanical, but ethical.. Two concepts that might appear similar and are often related, but are actually very different.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

No, that is a picture of a grown fantasy character in a fantasy setting dressed in revealing clothing; no more revealing than your typical bathing suit at the beach...
Do you run down the beach, outraged and crying out "Pornography!" at every grown woman wearing a revealing bathing suit? I'm going guess to you don't.
Do you run down the beach, outraged and crying out "Pedophile!" at everyone who has a female child with them in a two-piece bathing suit? I'm going to guess you don't. And those are real children wearing real bathing suits.
Are sexual acts being enacted upon the characters in this game? No.
No harm came to any child, real or otherwise, in the making of TERA. The only harm is in the minds of those looking for it.
That someone would see characters in a video game and immediately have their mind go to "pedophilia" says more about the person than the content. I see those screenshots and I see characters dressed in skimpy clothing in a video game. Whoop-de-doo. I can turn on the TV, and within 10 minutes see the real life equivalent, almost guaranteed.
And really, people are assuming they're children because they're small and have childish features. For all we know, in the lore, they're actually considered adults (haven't looked this up, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case). And so, wearing revealing clothing on one of them is no more "pedophelia" than an adult wearing the same thing.
People seriously need to stop being so damn quick to point the accusing finger, cut back on the hyperbole, get some perspective and find more worthwhile things to target their "outrage" at. There are far worse things going on in this world that are much more worthy of all that energy than fantasy characters in a video game. Focusing on real pedophilia involving real people would be a good alternative.
