I'm also glad someone rolled out the $150 pre order line, that is a collectors edition only, I pre ordered the normal copy for £36. I dont see what all the fuss is about the price.

"OMG THIS GAME DOESNT CHANGE THE MMO GENRE AND HAVE TWITCH COMBAT!"

It never made that claim. Please someone show me level 1 combat from an MMO that looks compelling?

I remember my first venture into DAOC, all i did was spawn in a town and start killing nearby creatures.

"OMG THIS GAME DOESNT CHANGE THE MMO GENRE AND HAVE TWITCH COMBAT!"

I don't think anyone said that or was ever under the impression that it would be that - a lot of us are just disappointed that it is WoW with a Star Wars - no, not even a Star Wars skin - just the licensed sounds and names are valid, really. None of the characters in this game were involved in the universe at all The rest is Lucas getting old and greedy - selling out his own masterpieces by dumbing it all down and lowering his standards for the pioneering special effects that put him on the map.

I for one am excited for this game simply because it is a high quality Bioware RPG set in the Star Wars universe that has the bonus of being a MMORPG.

Even if the MMO aspects are rehashed and unoriginal, the Bioware RPG aspects will be worth the purchase price.

It is my hope that after experiencing the Bioware RPG aspects to their fullest the MMO aspects will be polished, compelling, and varied enough to keep me subbed.

If not, then just like the Mass Effect games or KOTOR or Dragonage etc. I'll get an absolutely amazing value for the 60+ bucks I spend for this game.

If they get more from me, it'll be because I feel they deserve my continued subscription.

I just don't understand forum people... why do you all have to be so stupid, selfish, and illogical?

It's like saying "I want an apple." Then you got to the store and see an apple, but instead buy the orange next to it. You get home, you eat the orange, then say "I should have bought that apple."

SW:TOR isn't trying to trick you or pretend to be something it is not. They are very honest and forthcoming as to what kind of game the are making.

Don't want to buy that game? Then don't!

Just shut up and move on. No one cares how much you really wanted that apple.

i have a few tips for you.

the first tip is everyone is entitles to their opinion and entitles to share it as long as they keep in mind that other people have opinions too and are not trying to hurt their feeling and have done enough research to have a propor opinion, may it be from a video or more.

the second is that you can ignore all the bad and play in your lala land where no one has a diffrent opinion then you, and only good things are said about things. but you choose to talk to people who have made their opinions known.

listen, say what you want but people can say whatever they want and you have no right to stop them just because you dont like it

By your own arguement he has every right to tell someone if they don't like TOR, don't buy it.  He has as much right to say that as a WoW or GW2 fanboi has to make yet another duplicate thread complaining about this game.  It goes both ways if you haters like it or not.  TOR fanbois have every right to tell you if you don't like it to move along just as you have to say you hate it.  Maybe you're the one living a la la land where everyone has the same opinion and can't stand the idea of people liking a different game than you.

but Ive happily pre-ordered many mmo's

with mmo's it's fun to be online launch day

Personally emotionally invested in the Hype much - you have nothing else to go on, so I guess so.

Secondly, I do care about the apple and it looks pretty old. A ot of us grew up with Star Wars from "A New Hope" on, had most of the toys when they were not cheap pieces of BK happy meal quality marketing junk and the game with its kiddie graphics is frankly an insult to the Star Wars Universe as were the Clone Wars cartoons.

Geesh take a few breaths, relax. I grew up with the original Star Wars too, but I could still enjoy the Clone Wars cartoon for what it is. An animated show. It was actually really good.

To be honest I do think that people criticizing this MMO as not having anything unique are a little slow or illogical. The developers have been talking about story, story, story from the beginning. It's even a running joke now when they give an interview that story will probably be brought up. If someone critizing SWtOR as "same old" doesn't realize by now that story is the ultra super uber focus of this MMO then that's kinda sad lol.

    And I pre-ordered. Wee!

The old republic setting gives alot more freedom from established canon.  Thats why its done, so as not to feel constricted by the movies, but to expand on the games by Bioware and Obsidion.

Yes, yes the old republic was made as an excuse to have more jedi running around, but hey, alot of people liked that.

Booooooooooooooring. I'd rather play a good single player rpg like witcher 2 for a great story and full voice-over than play another cartoonish hot-key auto-pilot mmo :(

Some people still coming out and bashing TOR, how predictable. Boring is just a point of view and nothing more. Let's see, i watched the GW2 pvp video yesterday and i thought it looked boring as hell. I didn't see anything new that some people claim that game has and brings and i almost fell asleep because it looked liked every other fantasy mmo that has come out before.

When will people understand that you don't have to like or even comment on things that you find not to your taste. I personally don't like GW2. As anyone can see, i really want to dive into TOR, cause i am a SW nerd from top to bottom. I'm also interested in the Secret World and a few other games coming down the line. Does that mean i am on the GW2 forum or any of those others bashing certain aspects of the game and inflating TOR, no i'm not.

So, it still comes down to this. You either like TOR or you don't. Why waste time bashing something that you don't like, when you could be invovled in a much deeper discussion about gameplay mechanics and systems on a game that you do like.

SWToR is a very confusing game to me. It seems like a Single player RPG trying to be a MMORPG. A cut scene every other 5minutes with voice overs when I never play with my volume on is not a plus to me.

Like it makes no sense that I have to go through a lot of crap to be told to goto X location and kill Y pigs. From what I am hearing it has close to 20 gigs alone in sound files. What if I want to pause the sound to answer the phone?

What if I do not feel like having my sound on that day? Do I lose the immersion completely? Outside of the story where is the mmorpg? Where is the MMO? GW2 is guilty of this also because every interview I have seen has been pushing you you you in a industry titled MMO.

EA can only hide so much and when it releases they can not change that or continue to spin the hype. If it is good and stable then it will get popular. If not it will still make a crap ton of money because they are selling so many pre-orders and people are falling for the same Aion/FF14/WAR style hype yet again.

First off all, orange text to make YOUR opinion stand out is pretty self-inflating, no? Give me a break, ego check please.

Secondly, what you missed is that Heerobya was very respectful while fanboy you're defending came in with "why do you all have to be so stupid, selfish, and illogical?" and "Just shut up and move on. No one cares how much you really wanted that apple." - insulting, disrespectful, and rude. The only way your statement makes any sense at all is if you were defending Heerobya, not fanboy.

LoL. I've heard this before but I still don't believe it. There's no way I could play an MMO with the sound off. It would be so boring that I would fall asleep. The whole point of the story in SWtOR is so that "goto X location and kill Y pigs" is not meaningless... The player completes it for the fun of learning the resolution to the conflict in the quest, not just because it's 150 more XP lol.

If WoW is an MMOrpg, think of SWtOR as an MMORPG. It's not to everyone's tastes.

The opposite of every one of your points are equally as valid. Many of us are disappointed after being excited at the prospect of a new Star Wars game built with 2011 technology, not 2003. That didn't happen. Everyone has an equal right to state their opinion. It's the fanboys who get butt hurt when the disappointed people speak - no one else.

There are plenty of video's around. In this particular one he spams a single ability a million times.

Granted, he might not have been the best player and it might not have been the highest level content, but then you have to acknowledge TOR's video as being level 1 footage as well.

Also I'm sorry, but those other videos don't look amazingly more fun than the standard either. I don't understand how people expect a dodge move to make things suddenly engaging either, it gets old real fast in games like Vindictus as well.

I think people who are just in a rush to get to max level and PvP/Raid are not going to be pleased with SWTOR.

I also think people who will appreciate the journey, story, setting, immersion etc. are going to love this game.

What remains to be seen, I believe, is whether or not the "journey appreciating" players will stick around and keep playing at "end-game" or just re-roll until they run out of new stories.

The game has been in development for a few years... How could it have 2011 technology? Also this:

Stylized graphics does not mean the graphics aren't current or comparable to other current MMOs.

You're right. I was just being nice and didn't want to say that GW2 looks like ever other game, ( WOW, DAOC, RIFT, AOC) that is set in a similar fantasy setting.

but it really is not, you are not looking past the skin, there are many changes and it is much diffrent. the simularities are pretty minimal is the setting to be honest. and then gameplay is also something i find it hard to belive is the same as any game on your list.

by what i am hearing you are judging the book by its cover, and by nothing else.

when in accuality TOR is more like those other games THAN gw2.

Does that mean i am on the GW2 forum or any of those others bashing certain aspects of the game and inflating TOR, no i'm not.

So, it still comes down to this. You either like TOR or you don't. Why waste time bashing something that you don't like, when you could be invovled in a much deeper discussion about gameplay mechanics and systems on a game that you do like.

setting is no reason to group things together, because Star wars is fantasy also.

You're right. I was just being nice and didn't want to say that GW2 looks like ever other game, ( WOW, DAOC, RIFT, AOC) that is set in a similar fantasy setting.

Im glad you didnt say it.  Because that would be pretty backwards.  Its set in a fantasy setting.  Similarites pretty much end there.

As for Tor, Ive never played it and Im already bored with it.   Even the story, or voice system, just seems stale.  Characters standing there with their arms waving around spouting dialogue with the same gusto as someone discussing on how to change a tire.  Seems about as interesting too.

If this game were not based on Star Wars, and didnt have the Bioware name attached to it, there wouldnt be half the hype, and at this point, thats about the only thing the game seems to have going for it.   Its a real shame to see Bioware finally make a game like this.  I guess every developer has a mediocre title every once in awhile.  Too bad this one cost 80 million bucks.

I didn't see anything new that some people claim that game has and brings and i almost fell asleep because it looked liked every other fantasy mmo that has come out before.

Wouldnt a star wars game with 2011 technology have to START development this year?  These things take upwards of 5-6 years now.  Wasnt that one of Duke Nukem's problems?  they were constantly changing technology and engines as new things were released?

Similarities end there? Did you not see the Arathi Basin map? Also have you seen what GW2 considers story cut scenes?  It's laughable.

    In Bioware we trust!

Outside of the dynamic events Guild Wars 2 looks identical to Aion down to the strafe from side to side movements they were doing. It is definitely not in the genre you listed above, but uh yeah we have seen it before and it did not work when NCSoft directly ran the game.

GW2 looks nice, but is going to be a very hard game to run on some of these toasters people play on. If you think I am lying look at the people alone that can not even play Rift. You can say all day it will require the same settings as Guild War 1, but that is bull crap. Guild Wars 1 was all instances and never had graphics like that or that many people on a screen at one time.
