I think the info was spot on . The main thing you should take from this, the questing / leveling seems to go by effortlessly. You really don't feel a grind like you do in most games. Plus you can gain xp from the warzones as well.
It would of been nice if this was an actual video with objectives look at the game. But this is not, it is a viral campaign by EA / Bioware.
I feel we will see a new method of marketing with bIoware with this video being one of many viral adverts. It is a complete turn off for me to see how marketing out ways what is inside of the game,
I'm as paranoid as the next guy when it comes to corporate sleeziness, but what makes you so sure? Beyond the obvious bias of this website to showcase positive impressions, what makes you think she's in EA's "Pokket"?
to those that have demoed the game i have a question. Does the alien or droid VO get repetitive? that is my big concern is that their VO will become anyonging and will make me want to speed read through. After playing mass effect and all of its aliens speaking english, it makes me think repetitive VO was a problem and bioware is taking this step backwards for the star wars name
It is cool She is doing this but without Objectivity it is pointless to even listen.
That may or may not be true. But I suspect we're thinking about different people lacking objectivity.
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.
Of interest to me is the fact that she doesn't normally like leveling and questing yet enjoyed it in SWTOR. They must have done some things right.
As for people worrying that any reviewers are in EA's pockets, while I love a good conspiracy theory more than the next gamer, on this one I have to say, who cares? You're going to get a chance to try the game for yourselves. When you do, simply disregard any glitches that could be related to server stress testing and check SWTOR out for yourselves. It really doesn't get any more straightforward than that.
I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

The questing is good because it's where Bioware decided to place all their focus. The problem is that the voiceover cutscenes are so much better than the normal gameplay it's distracting and only serves to remind you how the rest of TOR is mediocre.
Then there's the obvious fact that questing and cutscenes can only last so long. Eventually you hit endgame and there's no more huge decisions to make or story changes to follow. At that point all you can do is queue for instances endlessly and pray that Ilum doesn't suck too much. At level cap TOR becomes a less polished version of WoW with about 25% of WoW's content. I don't see much long-term value. I expect a solid 2-3 months of gameplay before it becomes played out.
The thing about marketing, it is done by a 3rd party. Hey , lets get some cred by doing other games like Rift, and then go into the Bioware marketing mode. The fact that she looks like a booth babe is another red light that this simply sin't for real. The wig, ect is all gimmicks to distract you from the purpose of the video, plug a game,
It is cool She is doing this but without Objectivity it is pointless to even listen.
"Questing doesn't feel like a grind" to , but for 100k othe rpeople who playee LOTRO and said the same thing , another 50k will say it felt like a grind. It is just opoorly produced video that simply does one thing "plug swtor",
I completely understand your point of view, and for all I know, you could be right.
On the other hand, she could be someone who's marketing herself for the gamer audience and legitimately wanting to contribute to/ participate in the online media domain.
Just take all media with a grain of salt and for what it's worth. In no way should someone else's impression constitute 100% of your decisional power.
Corporate influence is nefarious and omnipresent, but it shouldn't detract from our enjoyment as aware and consenting adults.
I guess when I see some one being artifical, it kind makes whatever they say not really creditable. Be yourself, and be real with the games , leave the script at home.
Ripper X is pretty funny and he does a good job but this is just tacky and uninformative
Shrug. To you, maybe, to others not.
Personally, I don't think it's how she said it to some people complaining in this thread but what she said, in that she was too positive to their taste about a game they themselves are negative about.
(some) people who dislike a game have trouble accepting it when someone else is positive or likes the game they're negative about. Since they can't believe other people having fun or enjoying a game they're against, often all kinds of arguments are dragged into it to discredit the opinion or person giving that positive review.
I have no trouble accepting that there are people who're negative or dislike a game I'm interested in, tastes differ, I do wish though that some of those game bashers and critics could accept that other people can like and enjoy a game or gamestyle they themselves can't, without the need to discredit those persons' opinion.
The ease with which predictions are made on these forums: Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."

I am just the opposite. I think ripper x spends more time trying to be funny than actually being informative. And...his fake accent is so annoying.
The audio was terible, the music enough to make your ears blead. Sorry I would rather have an article to read instead of some vidoe podcast that has a bad adio and even worse video presentation.
So question needs to be asked,is this her own vblog or does she work for some company and feeding us nothing but advertising videos? If it is her own, good job but i suggest not sounding like you are reading from a paper and give your heart felt impressions, they are much more real that way.
No I do not work for an advertising company. Everything you hear in my videos are my opinions on a video game and no one elses (well, I mean people can have the same opinion lulz XD). I have a really bad memory so I write down everything I want to address in the video (sometimes there are TONS of things!). I'll try to get better about not sounding like I am reading Thanks for the feedback!
I am also working on a transcript to go with future episodes.
In regards to me not liking TOR before... It's not that I didn't like it, it was just that I was skeptical. I'm skeptical of every unreleased game. And, before I have a chance to play it, I'm not going to call it "good" or "bad". I've played TOR a bit now, I think I can definitely form a first impression of it, at least for myself ~.^
I appreciate your response a totally honest one,i knew it seemed rather obvious you were reading off a paper.
Now what caught my eye the most is your satatement on "SKEPTICAL".
That is exactly how i view games, not becuase i am skeptical by nature, but all the games i have played give me no other reason than to be skeptical.
Grats on your vblog it came across as being professional......gamingface.com is your website?
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Yep, I also agree 100%, the preview was spot on with my game experience.
Ditto.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
Originally posted by I_Return forming an opnion of a game for yourself is one thing, but to spread it to every mmorog and SwTOR site online as some kind of "preview" is another. You previewed nothing, you simply stated your opinion.
a preview is a indepth look as specific elements of a title, not a "it didnt feel like questing at all and there is no quest grind" That is a subjective marketing termonolgy for people to bite into. Regardless if it was done on purpose or simply by inexperience at "previewing" games.
If you previewed rift the same way as this game, you might want to pull all those videos down now cause they will come back to haunt you,
It's not any different than any other 'Preview' done on mmorpg.com. They're all quick little intros to the game, with the personal opinions of the presenters made evident.
Also, how long are we supposed to wait for Rift to fail? First is was a month, then it was three months, etc. That time when Rift is a total 'failure' keeps getting stretched out. When is it going to happen?

You're talking about a review. This is not a review, this is a preview.
There's a difference between the two.
A review is an indepth look at specific elements of a title.
A preview is a first impression and initial look.
By it's very nature a preview is never as extensive or objective as a review since the available material is limited and not yet final.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.
Thanks for the feedback! It looks like the biggest negative is the audio and music. I will definitely work on the audio and, as for the music, I will turn it down a bit. Perhaps it was too loud >.<
That being said, If you check out the earlier Game Face videos on my Youtube page, you'll notice this song is used for nearly all of them (but maybe the first two?). I sort of just built it up as a theme... that's why I keep using it XD Again, I'll just need to turn it down a bit so it isn't drowning the voice over.
I can't wait for my next post! Stay tuned in
Sub'd to your YouTube channel. But please... change tune. Techno is so 90's ;-)
Haven't you heard? The 90s are back in man! Yep, Beavis and Butthead, techno, it's all back!
Anyway, good video and presentation. I produce video tutorials for my employer, so I know the challenges. Good job editing and piecing it together. I look forward to more of your videos.

yeah, she is easy to look at.
anyway great review, gave as much info as we can expect without spoilers or breaking the NDA. Put my mind at ease, have been hearing so many negatives but the way she explains & presents it, those are the things that I look for in a game: good story, immersion, fun classes. looking forward to it again
There is however soemthing that really caught my eyes ,i mean ears.It really seemed like she was reading off of some cheat sheet and not telling us her impression baed on her thoughts. From the start of the video it sort of came across as a website run blog not someone's personal take on the game.
