Back in beta I could not believe the game was using low resolution textures. Actually I found it funny nobody is talking about that... anyway.
Some people here claimed that they are keeping high resolution textures for release client.
Can anyone that tried final release version confirm this ( and knows what high resolution textures are - please no replies from people that dont know what I am talking about)
Oh..
Screenshot would be welcome.

I noticed the difference too on player characters once they engaged in dialog. The textures then would look a hell lot better.
Any knowledge whats in store for tomorrow?

I imagine the textures will be the same as they were right up to the last beta weekend. That being said, texture settings like Anisotropic Filtering were defaulting to 2 instead of 16 when set to high ingame. Other than that being fixed there probably will be little change other than AA being enabled properly again and tweaks such as the lighting -which also had features disabled in the beta btw-.
James Ohlen: We have some. Some of the textures we had were messed up a little, we've fixed that up. Anti-aliasing is something that we're going to have in either right after launch or for launch. It's just something that we had on very late so that's another graphical option that you're going to be able to have access to.
So i am hopping for more tweaking for release.
How many servers SWTOR will launch with on release?
ShredderSE - Umm how many do they need? Maybe 6.
US, EU, Asian, France, German and Russian.
Subs will be so low there is no need for more
Snoocky-How many servers?
The first 3 months a lot...after that 2 i guess, one for PVE and 1 for PVP...
Thorbrand - SWTOR doesn't have longevity at all. Might be one of the shortest lived MMOs.
That doesnt answer the question how come the in-dialog textures wherent used in a LoD system while roaming the world?
Will we be able to see highres textures outside the dialog sessions??

AA was turned on at the very end of beta but the Hires texture bug was still there. But it is a bug and will be fixed.
Another new graphical thing that appeared at the very end was adjustable map transparency while moving... I reallly liked having that.

No one has tried the final release version. The servers have been down since the end of beta. You will have to wait a couple of days to get an answer.
My response is limited by the SWTOR forums being down

just read an article on the hi res textures here: http://www.swtor-gr.com/el/node/639
the water graphics look quite sweet, actually.
Guys, guys ... hold your horses
High resolution textures are in question.
Not antialiasing, not LOD, not antistrophic filtering , not texture bug ( unless the bug caused high resolution textures to disappear from your hard drive instalation folder into thin air )
Straight forward : High resolution textures in release client - Ye or Ney ?
Those are low resolution textures still
No point in asking it like that, no one knows. It is very unlikely though.
How the hell we are supposed to know when game is not up yet? lol

Have you tried to look...under water. All bits of "sweetness" (if any at all) are washed out. Literally.
I enjoyed the betas. Game itself was pretty fun. But majorly disappointed with the graphics period. Standard F2P MMOs look way better. Not sure what those guys were thinkin'. Not much more visually appealing than SWG.

I thought either I was crazy or my PC was messed up when I kept noticing how much better the textures on my player character looked while in a cutscene than when out questing. Some armor doesn't look that different at all (mostly robes and such), but heavy armor (mostly the stuff you see on Troopers/BHs) looked awful.
It's a questionable decision as to why BioWare never came out and admitted that they either capped the graphics settings or the texture quality thing was a known issue. Their silence caused a lot of people to think that was exactly how the game was supposed to look on max settings -- hence all the complaints. I was in the Rift alpha, and I don't remember the graphics looking worse at any point even in the weekend beta tests.
Eh...I don't know how anyone could have tried final release version yet to know.
Wish I had figured out how to take screenshots in the beta... for some reason it never would work for me. My graphics actually looked better then the ones in those shots. And I dont have a super graphics card either... a humble GT 530 4 gig.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
The final release version is the beta version + patches. I've been checking it daily and there has not been a significant sized patch to the game from the last beta version, so I'm going to come out and say the textures will be the same in launch as they were in beta... unless they patch them in tomorrow.
The Enlightened take things Lightly
I don't see any difference compared to the beta weekend I was playing in.
The big beta weekend 3 weeks ago you could already set everything to max, except for being able to turn on AA.
And still lots of textures looked goddarn awful.
On her screenshot of the Jedi starter planet you can still clearly see the horrid rock textures.
Textures where horrible in the last few beta weekends and is one of my big gripes about the game.
I know the engine can handle much more than what i seen in SWTOR, I know because im currently starting development of a game using the same engine so I was pretty shocked to say the least. Hell the default textures you get wtih the hero engine look a ton better than what was in the SWTOR beta..
So lets hope they add the high res stuff in.. not that it will help much as the game is pretty boring for me so i wont be playing .
Ah, going by final beta version I played to the end of beta, then no.
No one can answer that, The game isn't released yet.
I hate to say it, but it is normal with betas to not include the prettiest textures for download size constraints and all that. It's been done before many times in popular MMOs. The "uh oh" is that the launch client is supposedly about 2 gigs smaller than the beta client. o_0
actually not really.. its might be normal for alpha and early closed beta versions but not open betas a few weeks/days before release... I would think that the last beta weekend was probally as close to the final build as you could get.
I always see this argument.. "its beta, they are using lower textures" in the majority of the cases at this late state that is just not the case.
I don't know jack about jack... but I think the engine is a big part of the technical issues (textures... instancing need).
