After playing for about 15 hours today.....

Things look better than they did in beta. Many of the armor and gear textures look MUCH MUCH better. The world is hit or miss....some areas look better, some look the same.

Gonna say it looks like it's a work in progress at this point. But the apparently newly added armor textures look pretty damn good. Not amazing, mind you....but this IS an mmo, with a graphics style meant to be consistant with a pretty old title.

I know you dislike the game so it is matter of taste but screenshot / video doesn't lie.

Did you watch the two vids? Yes i would say SWTOR has a slight graphics upgrade but damn they look very similar. I'm just saying for a game to be released in 2011/12 to look that similar in quality to a game made in 2003 is a shame.

I just can't believe Bioware is getting away with it, there should be some kind of ethical moral standard developers should follow for releasing AAA mmorpgs in this day and age.

It feels like Bioware just barely did enough to pass is all i'm saying.

GameTrailers.com has posted some vids people have taken while entering.
Looks better than anything I saw in beta. The draw distance and shadows at least stand out as improvements.

I used to play MMOs like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

Yes i did watch the video from unbiased eyes. I didn't know there were some ethical and moral standards connected with how awesome the graphics should be of their game. I guess Blizzard has the lowest ethics in that case.

How many servers SWTOR will launch with on release?

ShredderSE - Umm how many do they need? Maybe 6.
US, EU, Asian, France, German and Russian.
Subs will be so low there is no need for more
    Snoocky-How many servers?
The first 3 months a lot...after that 2 i guess, one for PVE and 1 for PVP...

Thorbrand - SWTOR doesn't have longevity at all. Might be one of the shortest lived MMOs.

Sure it can... show us PC graphics run on the same machines at the same resolution with all options turned on.

Otherwise it didn't happen or whatever...

Atleast i am not exaggeration to make my point. ;o

No when WoW was made there graphics could be considered some of the best in the industry at the time, Bioware can't claim that with SWTOR.

And for the record i think WoW graphics are horrible and even thought that when they first released the game, looked like a childrens cartoon.

I disagree. i remember how much flaming WOW got even back then by EQ and EQ2 players/ It was called childish, cartoonish..worst graphics and what not..fast forward to 2011..yeah nothing has changed.

But i like how you contradict yourself in same post. WOW has best graphics when you want to bash SWTOR.. otherwise you dislike it anyways.

I still disagree that there are some moral or ethical obligations when it comes to graphics of the game. That is why i brought up WOW as an example.

If I buy SWToR, I am buying it as a single player game. SO I was hoping for the bells and whistles of a single player game  of this current generation. I personally would be done with the end game in under the 30 days, that is why I say "single player" game.

It is not a SINGLE player dewd. Its an MMORPG.

I know you stick to mostly F2P titles..so yeah one month would be enough for you because beyond that you would have to pay for it.

No. WoW could never claim the best graphics. They grew on you though.   What they did is go for graphics that were similar to their Warcraft RTS game.  It was a choice not to go with realistic looking graphics. Some people liked it, some hated it.  Ultimately it was the gameplay that mattered.  SWTOR took a similar approach.  They said that many games lately have been coming out with realistic graphics and they wanted to go with a more stylized look like, but better than, the KOTOR games.  It was a choice.

Your right,no one had a problem with WOW graphics that i know, players were not used to the cartoon graphics because all 3d mmo were along the same line as EQ which was the leading MMO of the day.I played EQ from release right up to the day EQ2 got released and WOW smoothess/ui were ground breaking for that time.EQ2 was a buggy mess but did have better graphics but the game was broken for quite a while,to much for many of the MMO gamers PCs.So yeah i agree with what you are saying about biowares new single player hybrid that looks very bog standard in the graphical department. The game looks the same as it did in beta with low textures and bad draw distance. Now,certain people will never admit to it and really take it as a personal insult if you dont agree with them.Pretty sure the EGS is in full flow, you would think that after all this time waiting for their game they would be playing instead of trying to convince people they are wrong.

I'm love amazing graphics just as much as the next guy, and I do wish that SWTOR had the option for some ultra high res stuff.  But to me, the game looks nice as it is.  And in its current state I know that not only will I be able to enjoy it on my laptop and have it not look too bad (for when I'm on the go) but I also know that if I end up playing this game a few years from now, even if I  dont upgrage my computer, I know I'll be able to easily play it.

Its an art style and a business decision.  Both seem to be good to me.

Please note that I'm not saying that its awesome, or that the graphics are going to make me drool everytime I click the SWTOR desktop icon, I'm mearly saying that the game looks good, wont make my eyes bleed, and will allow me to multi task on my computer very easily while playing.

Games like AoC looked amazing at launch but (and likely due to Funcom's coding) played like shit.

Yes, and the last subscription I bought was $300 ddollar Lord of the Rings Online Lifetime subscription. I am wondering why you would insult someone who prefers f2p games , if somehow they where inferior to pay tio play cash grabs.

Woahh there easy bud. No body insulted you. What is wrong with preferring F2P? some people are against paying monthly subs. For your play style SWTOR is fine as you want to squeeze as much as you can during one month play time and not bother with paying again.

Are you saying your knowingly buying an MMO with the expectation that its going to be exactly like a single player game, but because its not exactly like a single player game and more like an MMO you are angry and wish it to be changed?

Do you realize how that sounds?  I do feel your pain though.  When I bought Halo: Reach I was buying it for the RPG elements, so I expected stat management and armor that did things as well.  Damn them folks at Microsoft for not giving me what I wanted!

LOL, in what world? wow didnt look great when it came out, it was using a slightly modifired WC3 engine FFS.

EQ2 came out at the same time, and it blew WoWs graphics away, to even try to say that wows graphics were considered some of the best is just an insult to every good looking game out there.

Apparently stating the truth in my sig is "trolling"

They actually used the same engine, heavy modified, that was used in Warcraft 3.

The OP is asking a simple question and the SWTOR defense force gets in full charge attacking him in person, derailing the topic left and right, talking about other games to justify SWTOR's graphics, performance etc.....all this over several pages.

Moderation anywhere? No, except when it's about to delete this posting.

It works both ways, nowadays and especially when it's about SWTOR it's rather the fanboys who refuse to let a thread go in peace.
