So, what I understand is they might think about making the high texture pack available again?
I reckon it'll take a long time if they felt the problem was erious enough to necessitate taking them out.... I doubt I'll be there to see it, but in my opinion they should go for it, because even the best usable textures in game right now are just really weak. And the game's character models are not stylized enough to get away with it (like, say, WOW does).
can't see why not.. then its not just a simple menu change you actually have to download something and enable it which would lessen the amount of complaints they get from people with lower end systems since they would'nt have any need to download them to begin with...
on another side note the faces really start to bug me outside cutscenes the faces of the characters look really good in the cutscenes but look very very bland and undefined outside them.. really wish this wasn't the case:(
You know what is so damn funny, Bioware was caught lying to their player base and many of them are so blinded by fandom that they do not even know they have been lied to.
Or maybe some people have much bigger priorities in life than a video game.
So the high-res textures aren't in the game. Boo hoo. CRY MOAR. If that's the worst thing that you ever have to deal with, then bully for you.
See perfect example. By the way, high res graphics were in game, during beta. That is why the UI had three settings, low, medium, high. Now Bioware comes out and says there never were any high res textures, which is a lie, and the UI showing the texture settings of low, medium and High should have only ever showed, low and high. They out right lied to....
I'll give you one thing. It was a lie but it didn't come from Bioware, it came from you, hon.
Ehh what? You can go to the official website and browse every friggin' screenshot and CLEARLY see HighRes textures in every single one of them!
There is also plenty of early Closed Beta footage on the net, posted by Closed Beta testers after the NDA was lifted, that showed HighRes textures ingame!
Jeesh try bit more to pull smoke screen to your lies. Firstly we don't know if those in Closed Beta even had same textures! They have what could be called master version of textures and 3D models that are massive, those are then compressed and packed for different purpose. So you don't know shit what textures and models were in Closed Beta, you can't compare Closed Beta to Final. Secondly they already admited that there is 2 different textures and renderers to handle different situations. And since they are developers they can do stuff players can't, this is nothing new and is wildly used by all game developers.Thirdly it's called marketing showing best of product, does McDonald actually make burgers they show in pictures?
Seriously go away, you been trolling enough based on rumors, pure lies and hatered against this game for last days. We get it, you don't like the game but don't come up lies and wild theories.

It's all part of the dirty hard coded trick they applied to the client to lower the texture resolution on characters.
Hence why the character faces look less defined and bland outside cutscenes, just like your armor looks blurry, pixelated and muddy outside cutscenes.

The only one who is trolling is you! Nowhere did I ever say I do not like the game? As I actually do like the game itself!
Hence, why me and many others even bother to be upset about this and how this whole debacle is handled by EA/Bioware!
If I really hated this game, I would have already uninstalled the game and moved on!
The official screenshots on the main website is actual ingame footage with HighRes textures enabled! As it was available at that time (and most likely they still have an inhouse version of that client available to continue producing these screenshots).
When screenshots on the game website are better than what people will be able to get ingame, they are OBLIGATED to add a disclamer to those screenshots, saying that it's not actual ingame footage!
The only one putting up a smokescreen is Bioware themselves by lying to their playerbase! As the outrage only began, when people discovered on PTS that they "stealth" changed the Texture settings in Graphic options and removed the medium setting, making the current Medium the new High setting!
So a topic was created to question Bioware why this "stealth" change was made and what happened to the HighRes textures? A topic that has now surpassed over 4000 posts!
Why you think they came with a so called Official Statement today regarding this? If this was just lies from players?
The HighRes textures exist! There is plenty of footage out there from Beta testers on the net, posted just after the NDA was lifted, that show that High Res textures were available ingame during beta!
So, what I understand is they might think about making the the high texture pack available again?
I reckon it'll take a long time if they felt they were a serious enough problem to take them out... (That is, if they bring them back at all). I doubt I'll be there to see it, but in my opinion they should go for it, because even the best usable textures in game right now are just really weak. And the game's character models are not stylized enough to get away with it (like, say, WOW does).
Same as the missing HighRes environmental textures in DC Universe Online. SOE promissed to put them back in too. Never happened. DCUO went F2P just 9 months after release.
The thing here is, that this whole High Res texture debacle and how they are handling it, couldn't have come at a worse moment for EA/Bioware, just before the free month runs out.
Very true.

In all due respect. This isn't Sony. Here's a crazy idea. Give them a chance.
ANY person who would give up a little liberty for a little security, deserve neither and will lose both.
Before you would make an idiotic statement like this I would suggest you talk to a member of the military. They give up a LOT of liberty in order to provide you with safety and don't seem to mind all that much either. I know I never did (former US Marine) and neither does my wife (a current US Marine).
I don't think trusting BioWare to fix this issue is even a little bit wrong. If a few months down the road, maybe 3 to 6, they don't have a fix then we have something to complain about. Seeing as how BioWare has admitted it is a problem and have stated they are working on it, even less reason to worry for me.
"If half of what you tell me is a lie, how can I believe any of it?"
needless to say even super admitted fanboys are fuming about this...
Oh that's nothing, people aren't upset about the issue or the slow answers, you're just a hater what hates things, everything is lollipops and gumdrops in EA-Land.
This is what happens when you have a soulless monstrosity as a publisher, but it doesn't reflect badly on the game itself. They could have cut content instead. Though sometimes walking around in the game, I almost think they did.

First off, you screwed up the quote, second, how does this apply in the slightest to giving a game company a chance? Next time you quote a great American, please get the quote correct, k?
"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." - Benjamin Franklin
Am I the only one that thinks this is a reasonable response by EA/Bioware? It is very clear to me what the situation is after reading that, and I personally feel better about the situation now.

Agreed. Unfortunately most people seem to think that whatever bothers them is the most important thing in the world and should be fixed two days before yesterday.

It's because how this issue is handled and how the official statement is a downright insult to our inteligence. I don't even understand what else EA/Bioware would expect getting from this?
First, I don't say this is another NGE. FAR FROM IT! But there is a resemblence here on Corporate level.
The NGE in SWG was "forced" on the playerbase, because at corporate level (Lucas Arts and SOE) they thought they were better than the players to decide what was best for them! And never gave the players a choice!
Same thing is happening here now too! Plenty of Closed Beta testers say the game ran fine with HighRes textures and AA... some even say the old client ran even better than the new one!
But Lo and Behold! At corporate level (ironically LA is involved again, just with EA and Bioware, instead of SOE) and think they are better than the players to decide what is best for them! Forcing lower resolution textures on them, without giving them the choice to decide for themselves if they can run the HighRes textures or not!
Companies never seem to learn from history and never will! /shrug
We spend top cash + premo sub for a game and get jipped into some halfway done perpetual beta mode. I know, I know, it has been like this forever. But, these companies have to stop. What is worse is that alot of folks never suspected this from beloved Bioware/LucaArts. I didn't.
I appreciate the OP. And I hope this goes to show people to not get burned by this game. Or any other halfway done game.
The addition of the new JTL expansion seemed to have me still stoked about it, but if it's gonna be a Yars Revenge looking ...lol.
Am I the only one that thinks this is a reasonable response by EA/Bioware? It is very clear to me what the situation is after reading that, and I personally feel better about the situation now.
Actually, I was thinking the same, I found it an open, clear and mature response. Apparently not everyone sees it like that and feel affronted by BW's reaction. Everyone's different /shrug

You obviously don't know the implications of the bill. Fair enough, but you should do some research on why it is NOT a good thing.
