Again, a very american reply here...You live in a fantasy world where your great leader can never do wrong, and you use the same asinine logic in this case. If it quacks like a duck, it more than likely IS a duck. Doesnt matter if you want it to be a swan. Wake up and start thinking for yourself a bit.
It's cute how you keep trying to patronize me and talk down to me. It won't work, though.
The only fantasy around here is the one that assumes that the OP is telling the complete truth about what happened.
Again-- businesses like making money. They're not in the habit of being unreasonable assholes to their customers without a damn good reason. Game developers aren't any different. No one gets perma-banned without giving the CSR a damn good reason to bring down the banhammer.
He has a video and a picture to show you. What do you have beside unlimited faith?

I have a picture and a video to show you of a UFO and some aliens walking out of it. You should believe it because you can clearly see it on the video
He was banned for Violating the ToS by "admitting" he's under the age of 13 as you can see in the PM the video shows you. There is no way for BioWare to verify age so yeah if you go on their forums and claim you're under the age of 13 and the ToS clearly state that anyone under the age of 13 can not play the game then yeah you're going to get banned. I personally don't see any issue here and think the guy is a dumb ass for saying they're 12 and then mad because they got banned.
Banning their players for being 1 year too young is just HAHAHAHHAHAAA

There is a legal requirement that the account holder must be 13 or over.
Just like it is a legal requirement to be over 21(in USA) to drink alcohol
If you went into a bar and said to the barman "Hey, Im 16, can I have a beer" he is gonna throw you out. If you then produce ID showing that you are 21, he will let you in(If you are lucky! I would bar you for being a dumbass!)
All the guy has to do is prove he is over 13 via the appeals process and he is sorted.
Anyone that thinks he shouldnt be banned, needs to realise that Bioware has no way of proving that he is 13 or over. Maybe they should have temp banned him until he proved his age, but the same process still applies. You think Bioware should ignore the law and their own TOS?
I seriously expect that he did something more than this to get banned though. Its a classic case of someone doing something they know is wrong, then whining all over the forums saying "I got banned, I did nothing wrong". Just like the Ilum chest farming...

What certain people who have no clue need to understand is this:
The law is the law. It has specific wording and DOES NOT CARE if something is intended as a joke or not. Once someone violated the wording or the law, someone HAS TO TAKE ACTION. IF not, then that violated the law.
When I was a military cop, I often had to do things I didn't want to because the law was clear on what I had to do and what would happen if I didn't.
The first rule that anyone over 12 should know is that you never put anything in print that can be used against you.

If a person under 13 is not allowed to have an account - what exactly are they supposed to do. There are legal requirements in the US that must be met.

Whle its true that people say that, only the ignorant actually believe it. If I get bad service one time at an Outback Im not going to sit there and say 'Im never going to an outback again because I had shitty servce one time'.
And you really cant expect Bioware to school its employees on outdated memes, can you? The employee did nothing wrong. People are freaking over a perma ban, but its not like they wont lift it if he proves his age.
I'm not even commenting on the ban. I think the ban is alittle silly but I also know rules are rules. As to me being ignorant I think you need to look in the mirror. If you dont think companies actually check social media sites you really have no clue what goes on when hiring employees. Maybe not for your typical factory or office job. But it DOES happen. There are even positions that temporary services check things like that. How do I know? Because that was my job for a short period of time. Yup, thats right. I got PAID to go online, type in a persons name and then fill out a report on what I found. Again, this generally only happens for jobs where a person is in the public representing the the company.
As to the outback thing I'm with you. One bad experience will not keep me from going to outback again. However not everyone is like you and me. Just because WE would go back doesnt mean the other 20 people that waitress pissed off would go back. I'll use my parents as an example. They where treated horribly by someone at best buy a few years back. They have not and will never go back to Best Buy again. Just like there are people out there who will never buy another product that has EA attached to it in any way, even if they are just the publisher, simply because they backed SOPA.
I didnt call you ignorant, I called people that would judge an entire company based on one individual ignorant. I know what goes on out there, I worked as a retail store manager for 12 years.

That line right there shows exactly why you carry that load of bricks on your back. You seem to have lost your common sense. I hope you can find it again somwhere during your re-education.
How the hell is it a loss of common sense to say that a business has the absolute right to decide who their customers are?
No, thats not what you are saying at all. You are saying its ok for a busines to exclude a customer based on a harmless joke on a forum. Thats not a banhammer. Thats a banNUKE. There is a difference between having the power to destroy, and actually using that power. And in this case they used that power in a very moraly corrupt and incompetent fashion.
1 of 2 things happened here
1. The tinfoil hat theory, but somewhat possible: The OP has acted like a complete jackass in game or on forum and they used an excuse to ban him. This is actually something most paying customers would *cheer*, because no one likes being around those sort of people. However most companes dont have the balls to do this, and the very likely scenario is
2. The person banning had no clue about the meme (it never was huge like UMAD is)

I dont think you are a BW employee and I dont hink you know this man. So I suggest that before you label anyone with an ignorant you get all the fact and be 100% (or at least 90%) sure that what is this man saying is not true.
It may very well happen that at the end the ignorant is somebody else.

And what happened to the OP is only remotely wrong if (AND ONLY IF) the ban is not reversed when he proves his age. Given the facts we know now, assuming the OP is telling the truth, Bioware really did nothing wrong as many people in this thread agree.

So at this point I have to wonder. Considering this same exact scenario pops up game after game is it the same moron doing this? I mean I've only seen this exact same story about someone supposedly joking around about being underage and then getting banned about umpteen times now. I think the first time was not long after WoW launched. Probably goes back before then but I never paid much heed to forums beforehand.
I guess all the companies are at fault because supposedly they all do the same thing and ban the fool.
Do we really have to go through all this shit again when Secret World comes out? Really? Can't someone get more creative and actually bring some humor into it rather than rehashing these age old bs ones?
I like a good chuckle much as the next guy whether I agree or not but some of these...
Some of you are worse at recycling the same old shit than the mmos and companies you are so strongly opposed to.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.
