    Lets look at this a different way. 

    There is a legal requirement that the account holder must be 13 or over. 

    Just like it is a legal requirement to be over 21(in USA) to drink alcohol

    If you went into a bar and said to the barman "Hey, Im 16, can I have a beer" he is gonna throw you out. If you then produce ID showing that you are 21, he will let you in(If you are lucky! I would bar you for being a dumbass!)

    All the guy has to do is prove he is over 13 via the appeals process and he is sorted.

    Anyone that thinks he shouldnt be banned, needs to realise that Bioware has no way of proving that he is 13 or over. Maybe they should have temp banned him until he proved his age, but the same process still applies. You think Bioware should ignore the law and their own TOS?

    I seriously expect that he did something more than this to get banned though. Its a classic case of someone doing something they know is wrong, then whining all over the forums saying "I got banned, I did nothing wrong". Just like the Ilum chest farming...

    The law is the law. It has specific wording and DOES NOT CARE if something is intended as a joke or not. Once someone violated the wording or the law, someone HAS TO TAKE ACTION. IF not, then that violated the law.

    When I was a military cop, I often had to do things I didn't want to because the law was clear on what I had to do and what would happen if I didn't.

    Bioware are NOT the law and thefore can not write their own laws.

    As much as you might like to believe it, Biowares TOS is NOT Law and accepting it does not bind you to anything "legally". That would have to be decided by a court of law NOT Bioware.

    Most TOS would never stand up in court.

If you dont think companies actually check social media sites you really have no clue what goes on when hiring employees. Maybe not for your typical factory or office job. But it DOES happen. There are even positions that temporary services check things like that. How do I know? Because that was my job for a short period of time. Yup, thats right. I got PAID to go online, type in a persons name and then fill out a report on what I found. Again, this generally only happens for jobs where a person is in the public representing the the company.

    As to the outback thing I'm with you. One bad experience will not keep me from going to outback again. However not everyone is like you and me. Just because WE would go back doesnt mean the other 20 people that waitress pissed off would go back. I'll use my parents as an example. They where treated horribly by someone at best buy a few years back. They have not and will never go back to Best Buy again. Just like there are people out there who will never buy another product that has EA attached to it in any way, even if they are just the publisher, simply because they backed SOPA.

    I didnt call you ignorant, I called people that would judge an entire company based on one individual ignorant.  I know what goes on out there, I worked as a retail store manager for 12 years.

The tinfoil hat theory, but somewhat possible:  The OP has acted like a complete jackass in game or on forum and they used an excuse to ban him.  This is actually something most paying customers would *cheer*, because no one likes being around those sort of people.  However most companes dont have the balls to do this, and the very likely scenario is

     

    2.  The person banning had no clue about the meme (it never was huge like UMAD is)

     

     

    Either way, your assertion of the op getting banned for a harmless joke is ridiculous.

    I dont think you are a BW employee and I dont hink you know this man. So I suggest that before  you label anyone with an ignorant you get all the fact and be 100% (or at least 90%) sure that what is this man saying is not true.

    My statement was that anyone who uses the action of one employee to represent an entire company is ignorant.  It was a general statement and not about the case, and directed at someone else but not the op.

     

    And what happened to the OP is only remotely wrong if (AND ONLY IF) the ban is not reversed when he proves his age.  Given the facts we know now, assuming the OP is telling the truth, Bioware really did nothing wrong as many people in this thread agree.

    So at this point I have to wonder. Considering this same exact scenario pops up game after game is it the same moron doing this? I mean I've only seen this exact same story about someone supposedly joking around about being underage and then getting banned about umpteen times now. I think the first time was not long after WoW launched. Probably goes back before then but I never paid much heed to forums beforehand.

    I guess all the companies are at fault because supposedly they all do the same thing and ban the fool.

    Do we really have to go through all this shit again when Secret World comes out? Really? Can't someone get more creative and actually bring some humor into it rather than rehashing these age old bs ones?

    I like a good chuckle much as the next guy whether I agree or not but some of these...
