Look I called half the crap you people are crying about in TOR and I can atleast try and predict how GW2 will go. Can anyone GW2 fan here tell anyone wtf is the point of the pve in that game?
We here about all these dynamic events and what not, but they LITERALLY serve zero purpose. It is a train wreck in the making. If you think ArenaNET can just simply removed instanced raiding from the genre you guys are high. Half of the crap they are proposing people can sit here and list why those sandbox elements will completely backfire with more then one person on the screen.
Everybody knows GW2 is going to be a pvp game only played alongside your pve game of choice. GW2 dynamic content is going to be a direct ripoff of coding from Rift. Feel free to call me on this in a year, but watch and see if they do not manage the grouping, looting, scaling EXACTLY the same way Trion has.
ArenaNET is going to use Rift as a blueprint on how to make people want to go do the dynamic events. Whoever says there are not constant comparisons between TOR and Rift needs to give me what they are smoking because that is a flat out lie. Half of the crap people are raging at Bioware about is stuff Rift had on launch and TOR has a budget 150 MILLION more dollars to blow.

*tagged Funny how GW2 has been in development and their ideas have been known before I knew a single fact about Rift and yet they are going to be ripping Rift off somehow. Their whole freaking game design is to make people want to do DE's!!! The point of the PVE game in GW2 is the same as what should be the point of any game and that is to enjoy it.
DE's serve zero purpose!!! WTF man do you rage that much about GW2 that you can't see the point of the DE''s. DE's are the majority of the leveling experience. Instead of going from quest hub to quest hub ala Rift, you go from DE" to DE minus the hub. How the hell is that zero purpose? I would normally just say we disagree but what you just said in that post was so full of fallacy that I literally had to read it twice to get my head around what you were trying to say. You don't get gear...you don't get anything. This is like people just randomnly volunteering to work in soup kitchens to feed the homeless. That shit does not actually happen.
The pve makes zero sense. The entire game looks like they took the easy way out. They thought balancing was too hard so they completely homogenized the entire class system and just removed dedicated healers. Tanks are too hard to balance so lets just remove that too.
When it comes to dynamic content I tell you now they are going to ripoff Rift. They are almost forced to when it comes to public grouping this is required...there will threads that say 'GW2 needs a public grouping feature like Rift" just watch. Besides you do get loot from mobs which includes equips also some events involve saving npcs which can become vendors of actual equips where you can spend the karma you gain to buy stuff, also the elite event bosses have chests where every player receives loot.
People have played demos at the conventions where they played DEs and they managed to do them without actual grouping but I mean obviously you know all your stuff.
You get gold, karma and sometimes other things from doing them as well when you're done with the event.

I've always liked Rift, and considered returning many times, but I'm quite engaged with Skyrim currently, and should I decide to play an MMO before GW2 it will be Guild Wars for the story and lore, and HoM achievements!
I do log in for a bit whenever Trion offeres the free days, like this past weekend...

You keep mentioning that they will need a public grouping button, yet that has very little to do with anything. I don't disagree that it would a nice feature if it wasn't added but I fail to see how that has anything to do with it being a ripoff.
You get exp and yes you do get stuff from doing DE's. Once again I question your logic since you are once again wrong. I don't understand where you think you get nothing for doing DE's just because there is no quest turnin for a choosable piece of loot. You are just wrong.
You are also once again wrong on the balancing issue. The game was designed to do away with a tanking and healing mechanic. A lot about this game seems like they are trying to do things differently but you jump straight to easy way out. I don't see the class system as homogenized. You wanna see homogenized class system look no further than TOR. I honestly doubt that they designed the game the way they did because it is tough to balance since they did a good job of balance in the first and lets be honest, true balance in a MMO is an illusion anyways. As I stated before, GW2's DE's and game design have been known, it isn't something they changed because they wanted to copy anything Rift did.
this is my opinion of couse, but Rift seem like the closes MMO to the GW2 experience. its full of dynamic events. some can get on you nerves some times like the warewolf events (I hate those), and the firelord events (OMG I hate those more!!!)
also the game has some awesome PvP dungeons. Just dont level up so fast using consumables. I would suggest taking your time leveling in Rift, since you can do most things before endgame anyway.
Still has PvE dungeons like GW2 and every other themepark mmo has.
also soon there will be a PvP focused major event added soon. pretty exciting really. 1.7 will make PvP even better at endgame since people will be on my equal grounds. I suggest level 30-49 PvP. its fun as ever especially on weekends.
also there is great exploration in the games. many easter eggs to be found.
well thats just my opinion,,,,,,,

Three months is just about the time you know before it becomes boring. One reskinned scaling event that pop every 10 minutes is not "full of dynamic events".
Don´t get me wrong, nothing against Rift but the game is so far from GW2 that it is night and day. Rift is well coded and well supported but it offers very little new gameplay wise and have one of the most boring questlines I ever seen.
It is gear based while GW2 is player skill based, have raids and trinity combat.
It do have a rather fine customization options for the 4 classes in the game but still,I just don´t see it. Worth to try for anybody that is bored though.

Why do you need public grouping if it open world, loot system actually pays based on how much you participate, and there are no dedicated healers?
How is it the easy way out?
Create a big armoured dood with barely any offense- Tank
Create person with tons of heal skills- Monk
Create person that does tons of dps with spammable skills- Dps
That seems to be MUCH EASIER than...
It would seem harder to create 8 unique classes, all with several weapon sets, and skills that heal/buff/protect/control the enviroment/ control other people/ make use of underwater 3d/ make use of jumping/ make use of enviroment/ no energy/ special abilities with each class? Hmmmm?
Also, going from rift to rift that randomly pop up of barely a DE in itself. I've played DS games with more randomness.
Another thing is that DEs do not constantly repeat. In the Demo, they did have a boss appear at certain times because they wanted everyone to experience it. In the actual game, whether or not that boss appears at all is questionable. They don't constantly having it reappear.

With no incentive the game will fail in the pve department. Over time pvp'rs will do what they always do in mmorpg's and quit over every small excuse they can find. MMO'sm with hampster wheels have worked this long for a reason.

This one obviously has not played a decent pvp mmo
"It has potential" -Second most used phrase on existence "It sucks" -Most used phrase on existence
How do you even consider Rift to be the closest thing to GW2? That like saying a peice of cheese is the closest thing to pizza.
it has lots of dynamic events and other activities in the world as well as instanced (excluding raid dungeons here) contents to play. its can be fun for somebody not into raiding. as I pointed out, I been playing Rift for 6months, and I dont raid. Yet I am having a blast. its a fun game for both non raiders, and raiders I guess. its not perfect, nor did I say it was a copy paste of GW2, I just suggested it as a similar experience.
what you like isent what the next guy likes. all i can say in congrats to you if you still find Rift exciting after 6 mouths of contant play. i played it for 6 mouths and wanted to uninstall it after the first mouth.
mind you within that mouth i had 2 toons maxed out and 1 working on T2s...... ( when they were kinda tough before they got nerfed to death ) But i played it for the 6 because i paid for 6.
And what Dynamic events? i know your people arent still goin on about the RIfts being dynamic. LOL. Nothing dynamic about the same zones spawning the same rifts, with the same events, in the same places, every day.... That is not Dynamic.
this is my opinion of couse, but Rift seem like the closes MMO to the GW2 experience. its full of dynamic events. some can get on you nerves some times like the warewolf events (I hate those), and the firelord events (OMG I hate those more!!!)

Lets see here. Dynamic events events in Rift are no where even close to what GW2 is trying to accomplish. Rifts where fun for a while but became verry repetative. Only a handfull of options and they never changed what was going on after the zone wide invasion stopped and thoes where pretty rare.
Comparing rifts PvP to the quality of PvP Anet knows how to do is a joke. If you never really got into GW1's PvP you probably couldnt understand just how good Anet is with PvP. Trion however failed pretty hard at pvp.
PvE in general. How can any game with the holy trinity be compared to a game getting rid of the trinity? Apples and oranges.
Exploration? GW2's dynamic event system boasts exploration. Without going into it to much how cool is it that opening the wrong chest or looking under that odd looking stone could trigger an event? Rift's exploration ended at the world puzzles for some loot and a random easter egg here and there.
Combat in general. Again, GW2 will have no holy trinity in the traditional sense. Therefore you can expect gameplay to be verry diffrent.
ALL of what I have said is a base assumption that GW2 will pull off everything its trying to do. It may verry well not we just dont know yet. But what I can say is except for a few core elements of a themepark MMO its going to be alot diffrent than the typical themepark. Rift is NOTHING like GW2 is claiming to be. If thats good or bad we wont know for a little while yet.
I tried to convince a friend of the same thing the OP is, but after playing Rift for a few weeks, even I don't believe it. The rifts are cool and definitely something different than WoW or SWTOR, but not only are they tame compared to GW2 DE's, but the rest of the game has been done time and time again. I'll enjoy it for a little bit longer, but burnout is setting in fast because I already know what I want to play, and it's pretty much not anything released before 2012.
Another thing is that DEs do not constantly repeat. In the Demo, they did have a boss appear at certain times because they wanted everyone to experience it. In the actual game, whether or not that boss appears at all is questionable. They don't constantly having it reappear.

If you read earlier in my post, you will see that I mentioned a loot. Basically, all those who participate will gain this loot, based on how much they participated, and can gain: weapons, gear, money, karma, experience and more. What type of "incentive" do you want? Have the game mail you a cookie?
I think PvPers quit over larger things, such as lack of balance (Swtor) or huge number of glitches (Swtor). This game is being designed to be a Esport type of game, such as Starcraft. If PvPers left over tiny things, there wouldn't be any PvP MMOs (or any Online Multiplayer Game) left.

I belive that he would like worthless achievemt points like Rift offers. perhaps some worthless planarite. cant give that bullshit away. you get it so fast you cant spend it fast enough. before you know it you 60000 again. I hope to god purmallace never leaves Rift. That only means ill never run into him on any MMO i may play.
when i played rift beta, i encountered the dynamic event and it reminded me cov/coh Alien invasion. for those who played that before will know what i mean.
I uninstalled RIFT after 8 hrs of play time.
and i do no know why GW2 will beat rift hands down, the game isn't out yet. am i in another universe ? fringe science? man, so many fan boys in this thread....

As highly critical you have been regarding Guild Wars 2, I can't take your opinion seriously.
I'm going to play Guild Wars 2 because my wife and I want a game to play together (we play GW1 together sometimes too). Some of the combat looks fun and there is no sub fee. The idea that loot is insignificant is kind of a drag to me.
However, I'm not going to cancel my RIFT sub anytime soon and certainly not for GW2. I like loot, gearing up, running dungeons (and geting loot), and the incredible development pace Trion provides all for my sub fee. RIFT is the most fun I've had in an MMO in a long time. I don't care that it is "just" an evolution of themepark design, I like it.
Loot isn't insignificant in GW2, only in the competitive pvp it is(to have 100% fairness aka esport) but the rest of the game(pve and WvWvW) depends on gear still although far less then most other mmorpgs. I'm very glad they removed gear crutch from competitive pvp though I would still like to be able to use different weapon and armor looks then the standard pvp outfits/weaps.

This one obviously has not played a decent pvp mmo

what you like isent what the next guy likes. all i can say in congrats to you if you still find Rift exciting after 6 mouths of contant play. i played it for 6 mouths and wanted to uninstall it after the first mouth.
mind you within that mouth i had 2 toons maxed out and 1 working on T2s......
That is not Dynamic.
wait...is MMOExposed replying in a thread he made? almost deserves a sticky

Which FF Character Are You?
As highly critical you have been regarding Guild Wars 2, I can't take your opinion seriously.
I believe you are being disingenuous.
Yeah, I got him to reply multiple times. Do I get an achievement for that?
Loot isn't insignificant in GW2, only in the competitive pvp it is(to have 100% fairness aka esport) but the rest of the game(pve and WvWvW) depends on gear still although far less then most other mmorpgs. I'm very glad they removed gear crutch from competitive pvp though I would still like to be able to use different weapon and armor looks then the standard pvp outfits/weaps.
