how did this thread get to gay marriage? no one get's married in swtor. they have relationships. i really don't see how this gay marriage debate is constructive or pertinent at all.

Many of these pseudo regious types with their "doesn't bother me so long as it's done in the privacy of their homes and they don't push their agenda down other peoples throat" rhetoric would probably do quite well to remember thats how a lot of us feel about their delusional religious beliefs.

Yeah well back in the day these thing where not extreme.... not at all... they were accepted as part of everday life.
Im sure that when women and black where given the right to vote there where lots of discussion going on similar to this one, discussions about "tradition" and whats "natural" but in reality its just ignorance... plain and simple.
No one is forcing you to accept anything, but at the same time you can't go to a public forum and say something that basically equates to "i belive in freedom as long as what people are free to do doesn't gross me out... then it should be illegal" and not expect to catch some flak from other memeber of the public.

i remember now why i aint into jesus and all that dodgy stuff, didnt god make everything and everyone if so then he made SWTOR in a roundabout way so in game same sex relationships must be ok.

I believe there should be some sort of parental control feature or in game toggle. That toggle makes your game gay or not gay. A simple rinse and release mentality.

Please stop trying to make all of America look bad with your continued ignorance. Not everyone lives in a bubble like you seem to. This may come as a shock to you, but society progresses over time to better itself. It may seem slow in certain parts of the world, and different cultures will take time to catch up to others, but progress is happening. You cannot stop it, and it will not be stopped. Ancient Greece was far ahead of it's time in societal norms, and it has taken us a long time to recover from the setbacks of religion to get back to where we used to be.
Progress is being made in all forms. Marriage used to be defined as to where a man of one race couldn't marry a woman of another race. Things change, we get better as a culture. The Catholic Church locked away our greatest scientists for discovering that the Earth does indeed revolve around the Sun, contrary to what their faith proclaimed at the time. Things change, we get better as a culture. Eventually the United States will nationally allow same sex marriage, even if there are people who would not see it so. A majority can't deny the rights of the minority forever.

It's a genious system really... all you have to do to make the game not gay is not to say gay things to npc's of the same sex...

It's funny that you mention South Africa. Most African nations require a gay man/couple to be stoned outside the city and / or spend life in prison if ever caught in the act.

HA HA HA! Joke is on them. One of my Avatars was one Half of the happy couple of the very first marriage in SWG (a game that did have marriage with rings you found on mobs and were recorded on the char. fax pop-up for everyone to read), a LESBIAN COUPLE! That was in 2003! HA HA HA!

Why? So people can pretend it doesn't exist? If we're going to protect people from things they shouldn't see, why are we playing games where the primary method of advancement is by killing hundreds or thousands of virtual people? If virtual murder isn't at all morally iffy, then I fail to see how gay behavior is at all iffy. Especially since other people could watch me go on a virtual murder spree, but they can't watch me go on a virtual sex marathon. For that matter, I don't think I can even watch myself do that. The screen just goes black for awhile and you have to think to yourself "something happens...I hope it was good" and then you're back.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

It's not like the other player characters are banging each other in the butt in the middle of the streets of corescant or something...

That seems odd since at first they said they would not have it and there was a lot of anger over that. . so they decided to add it. They said they would need to do a lot of voice over work to make it happen so I doubt that it was planned from the start. It was in reaction to negative feed-back for not having it. You're always going to upset someone I guess.
I guess people who are opposed can just . . not chose to do that and there won't be an issue. I have not played so I can't say but would that stuff not be limited to the person playing that character through cut scnenes etc? If kids chose to do this in game then they already think it is a good idea. . the game is not going to change their sexual preference.

Yea no more group romance arcs nor any romance cut scenes view able then just your own PC/NPC.
Also, they have strictly two options now via twitter updates, a handshake & fade to black (guys) or a kiss & fade to black (women.)

Like i said before... if it is just one chick that does it in all the game... then IMO she is probably just one of those chicks that really likes to see dudes get it on. So since 2001 10 countries in the entire recorded human history of thousands of years and hundreds of generations have same sex marriage. Seems like that is very little "progress".
Also just stop the personal attacks, you may not agree with my (the majorities) point of view but that is not a reason for them.

You know I usually stay out of RL view-point topics like this, but I have to ask, if you can't hide it from them in real life, what difference does it make in a video game? They're going to be exposed to it regardless, sheltering helps nothing, it only deepens the issues of discrimination, and ignorance.
