Sure that's great and I get it. But because there are several force senstive classes, pretty much everyone can be force senstiive. And because of everyone beign able to be everything it starts to dilute the classes to my taste.
So Bounty hunters can't have red hair?
My point with this is that just because hes a Bounty hunter doesn't mean he doesn't have access to force abilities...
Just because you are a Jedi doesn't mean you can't figure out how to work a flame thrower, look at Anakin Skywalker that kid could build a pod racer with the force helping him drive it, yet he wasn't a Jedi yet.
You are confusing being a Jedi with having the Force.
Edit: Another example would be Paladins.
Paladins have Magic right?
yet they're Knights?!
see my point?
Well, jsut because someone is "force sensitive" doesn't mean they should have the ability to wield it like a pro. Just becasue somone is a Jedi doesn't mean they are going to be a sharp shooter or gunman.
You are confusing the idea of being related to someone = being able to be at the same level as they are in whatever skills/abilities they excel in.
Another example would be:
You can play a little guitar and can even pick out notes on a guitar to tune it. Your Father is Christopher Parkening one of the most amazing guitarists to ever live.
see my point?

So everyone has the force now? I wonder what George thinks about this...
George lucas, having invented Midi-chlorian's and essentially set up the entire premise for people being able to have the force and not be a Jedi probably has no problem with this AT ALL.
You do know the entire story of STAR WARS is about the strongest user of the force EVER, Anakin Skywalker, who has 20,000 midi-chlorian's per cell, the average human has 2,000. How is he sooo powerful? Well Darth Plageius did experiements on him when he was a fetus.
So all of this is VERY cannon, heck Lucas says you can genetically engineer people to use the force.
The point is, the gaming industry on the whole caved in to the theory that "everyone should be gods and heroes" and that's exactly what you're going to get with SWTOR. Everyone is going to have these powers so if you think that an entire universe of force-choking people running around is "Star Warsy" then by all means, have at it. Personally, I find the idea revolting, just as choosing a Jedi from start in NGE was.
Perhaps one day MMOs will just let you start at max level, max powers, max gear and max money. Why not? They're almost there as it is, getting to max level in a week is common practice in this down-trodden industry.
Is that the point? Or is that YOUR point?
When they started making The Old Republic they stated it was a time when there was A LOT of force users running around.
I bet you assumed they ment Jedi and Sith didn't ya?
Nope they ment FORCE USERS.
Which it seems like a lot of people keep confusing the two.
And you think a universe of force-chokers is all about the Star Wars I take it. There's a BIG difference in "a lot" and "everyone".

Yes I certainly do, perhaps the Bouty Hunter choking someone wont' be as effective?
Or perhaps the bounty hunter has praticed that single ability and has honed it to be as effective as every other part of their arsenal, as a bounty hunter I wouldn't want any weapon, be it a force power, or a gun, to be under prepaired for a fight.
If ANYONE who has force sensitivity can train to better use it, how is it strange that a bad ass Bounty Hunter wouldn't work hard at mastering what abilities they have?
Learning to play Guitar and being born with the knowlege of Guitar is different... I mean the force is a genetic trait, yet at the same time its only a potential, so that being said it would be up to the individual to go how far with it they can.
There are a lot of force sensitives in the post Star Wars episode 1-6 expanded universe too, Luke trains people from all walks of life to use the force.

So, you I would think a bounty hunter that has force-sensitivity and starts using force powers should be VERY crappy at it, otherwise he would have been ended up a jedi or sith? If that is the case, is Bioware thaking that into consideration?
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I understood it as limited skills on very long cooldowns. So it's not like a bouty hunter is going around force-choking and flaming every mob he runs into. It's more like every now and again he's like "let me see if I can figure out this choking thing again".
I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil
And you think a universe of force-chokers is all about the Star Wars I take it. There's a BIG difference in "a lot" and "everyone".
I'm not sure whats wrong with people having the ability to use the force, we're players, my toon is a member of the dark council, if he had any relatives you better bet they've got Force Powers....
You are forgetting what you are playing when you play SWTOR, an important character who plays a pivital role in the story. YOU kill the false emperor, YOU take down Revan. Not some other members from the Lore like in WoW, YOU do it.
So yes, its ok that the characters we are playing have force powers, as they are pretty much THE HEROES OF THE GALAXY in this game.

Gameplay-wise, I do not see how Bioware can escape the trap of making this feature either utterly irrelvant via only stocking weak/forgetable abilities or essentially required in PVP/PVE with optimal specs/borrowed abilities.
Lore-wise, what confuses me is non-force users using the force with ease. I understand the concept of force-senstitives, but don't Jedi and Sith have to train for eyars to be able to master the ways of the force just to be able to manipulate it so? FOr a force sensitive Bounty Hunter to use advanced force techniques that some dedicated SIth or Jedi cannot use seems strange.

Just because a BH can USE the force doesn't mean hes ADEPT at it, many don't even know they have force potential until they are older, while most of the sith would force any force sensitives to train to become Sith, if they are members of the dark council's family I'm sure an exception could be made. There is a limit to how strong you can be though, right? and taking this into real world context I don't think Kobe Bryant would be as good a basketball player if he tried getting into playing the drums like Vinnie Colaiuta. My point beign, being extremely good at too many things is not something EVERYONE should have.

Well sure, there is a limit to how strong your muscles can grow right?
That is based off of a variety of varriables including but not limited to your frame, build, body type, gender, etc.
What determans how strong you can be with the force is again these "Midi-chlorians" so if someone has an abundance, then they can go much further with their training than someone who is limited, yet it would still be largely based off of how dedicated they are to their studies.

I've not seen anywhere listed the actual abilities you can learn through the legacy system, as far as I know we've seen a BH choak and a Sith warrior flame throw.
We'll have to wait and see exactly how its implimented before we can figure that out.
When everyone is a hero, nobody is. Yourself included.
I'm sorry you hold that to be your opinion, yet it is just that, an opinion. One I do not share.
World of Warcraft calls themself "The Hero Factory" So I guess that game doesn't exsist since no one can be a hero if everyone is right?
Its a neat saying, but thats all it is.
I realize you don't like my opinion and you have yours as well, that's fine
The fact is, when everyone can be a godly hero, nobody is. It only makes you like everyone else, plain and average, which isn't the definition of a hero.

I'd rather be asking the question if the abilities are "optional" or "required".
You know I have this really weird thing where I don't play Elves in RPGs, I can't stand them.
I sometimes do this because I don't want magic powers at all and want to just be this big dude with a sword/gun.
Personally I wouldn't like suddenly becoming a magical elf with sorcery, even if its just colorspray. So either the abilities will be completely optional flavor that I don't need to get, or they will be forced on my character.
Ofc if you only care about pewpew this question is irrelevant.

In the end, we don't know yet how it will work. It could be that a Sith's force lightening is 5 or 10 times a powerful as a force lightening let off by a Trooper. That is how it should be, but I don't think that has been revealed. These "extra" skills could and probably should be more akin to parlor tricks that have some limited uses in context with those who are proficent.
Same with a Jedi/Sith who can throw grenades (or whatever, just pulled that out of my...). If it does less damage or whatever, it is explained as loss from accuracy or training or whatever.

Depending on what skills Bioware allows to be borrowed it could very well be required, especially if said ability is a CC or Offensive or Defensive cooldown. It depends on the advantage Bioware gives this feature really. Tanking, healing, and even DPS specs could potentially have to include borrowed abilities for optimization.
