    I was having this issue, but then someone on reddit posted a way to do it with Auto Hotkeys

    here is the script I'm gonna use

    #IfWinActive ahk_class ArenaNet_Dx_Window_Class

    ;;Shift+ 1-5 keybinds

    +1::Send {F1}

    +2::Send {F2}

    +3::Send {F3}

    +4::Send {F4}

    +5::Send 0

    ;; Make  CTRL+1-5 keybinds

    ^1::Send

    ^2::Send

    ^3::Send

    ^4::Send

    ^5::Send

    Just save as a .ahk and install autohotkeys, run the script and ur done, change keybinds to ur liking, I unbound every ctrl keybind

    This does make me hope they have dual click mouse movement though. Especially considering movement is important to combat.

    I'll be very surprised if this functionality doesn't make it into the game for release.

    I do have to wonder, though, how people overly-concerned about this ever manage to play MMORPGs with 30 to 40 skills. Even with modifiers, you must have to use more than just the 1-5 keys for all your skills!

    In any event, there are hardware solutions around the current limitation and with right bar skills tending to have longer cooldowns, I think most people will be able to find keybindings that will work for non-spammable skills. :)

    I personally don't care for excessive use of modifiers. I use a Logitech G13 Programmable Gameboard and am already training myself for my planned GW2 key layout in other games. The top two rows of keys will be for the 1-10 skills and the F1-F4 keys. Plenty of other keys for additional combat functions and the thumbstick for movement. I use my normal keyboard for the other ui stuff you don't need in combat, though I could also just add a second, swappable profile to map the Gameboard for out of combat key binds, if I wanted to.

    A multi-button gaming mouse could also handle the 6-10 skills.

    I'm not saying it shouldn't be fixed, because it should, but if you really want to play this game, there would be a number of ways around the limitation, including clicking some of the 6-10 skills, as needed.

    First of all, i understand your point. As i wouldnt play mmos without WASD Movement and keybinding.

    I personally dont use SHIFT+ or CTRL+  very often, because i have a gaming keyboard, and then it is a lil bit more uncomfortable to press 2 keys at one time. But i am with you. They would be stupid not to implement this option, and i can understand that this is a game breaker for some ppl. I just hope they will add it, and better today than tomorrow, especially it isnt really big change at all.

    It will take less then two days to train yourself the new keybinds.  All I hear is crying about a game because its not EXACTLY like what you are used to.  Well boo hoo.  Why don't you try something new for a change.

    Just because you can learn new controls doesn't mean you should be forced to learn ones that are bad.  What he's really complaining about is 1-0 are bad controls, not that he'd have to learn them.  The complaint about learning new controls comes in with people saying GO BUY A NAGA.

    This amounts to him being forced to buy an $80-$150 mouse to play a $50 game.

    Just that alone is a deal breaker.

    I'm with the OP, I won't be playing an MMO with terrible controls and I won't be buying an expensive mouse to play it.  I'm actually with the OP.  If the controls are not fixed in some way I will not play the game.  If they decide to patch in it post launch I'll play it after it is patched in.  If they have it available at launch I'll play at launch.

    Fanboys always get butt hurt whenever someone makes any kind of complaint at all... even when it is a logical one.

    Its ok for OP to have his concerns and opinions but WTF? Non bind-able keys is a Deal breaker???

    Damn... i already expressed my concern about not being able to change eye color in character creation, but would i give up on this game if they dont implement that feature at all?

    Oh wait, there is no mounts too, i think i really need to give up on this :(

    Srsly. This is such a basic key features to be able to bind your keys at your liking including modifier, that it really is a big deal if a game do not offer it. So ANET, implement it, now.

    Ironic? Because mounts or eye colours is really secondary, if even that. But keybindings is part of a core feature, it is a MUST HAVE.

    There's a huge difference between something cosmetic and something related to game-play like key-binding. The former doesn't effect your ability to play in any shape or form, while the latter does. I see no better reason to not play than an issue like that.

    And about the Naga.. it is really not a solution to buy for every game extra hardware just because they are unable to include basic features. And the Naga is complete shit for anything else than MMOs, and even for MMOs not really my prefered Mouse... should i buy two mices, just to be able to play GW2, or any other game? This is just not a solution. And ANET should knew it, and if not, they should know it at least now. And to be honest i am almost 100% sure, that they will have it implemented at realese, because this is really so a basic core feature, that i just expect it.

    I personally don't care since I never rebind keys but it is a weird decision not to have it.

    Let's hope that they either change their mind or that there will be some 3rd party software you can download for it that wont be considered cheating.

    Nice to see how fast community turns on one of its own...one of the biggest supported of GW2 in seconds the moment he expresses why he won't be playing the game. Notice how OP never said that GW2 sucks or is a bad game. Really amusing stuff.

    My opinion is that there is a reason for this. Combat and controlls differs greatly than on the rest MMOs. Even if the 1-0 keys were trully unbindable, you have a hundreds of workaround systems, so that you can bind your keys to whatever you want, and i dont think of "Buy Razer Naga".

    I used the mounts/eye color argument to show that it is not the thing to be a deal-breaker. OP dont actually know if this wil be fixed/implemented or not. He find some article on GW wiki and said "Oh man, screw this, i wont buy this anymore", and gave up already before game even went to final product. He should just reserve his judgement untill game releases. You can always use the trial when game relases, and THEN you decide if the game is for you or not.

    Yet he stated that he was No.1 Fanboy and defender of game. Which lead to my another point of problem with people haveing astronomic-measured expectations about the game. No game is perfect and people need to realise that. But more on that on some other topic.

    Not haveing key binding is a deal breaker, there is no way in hell ill use 1-9. Im confident that Anet will fix this though.

    A big reason why im interesd in gw2 is the low ammount of hotkeys, im tired of 1-4, e, q, r, f, c, x, z, m3,m4,m5, shift e,q,1,2,3 alt 1,2,3.

    anyting over nr4 is impractical to use and ur better of clicking with ur mouse on em, and thats far from ideal in pvp

    I think the fact that it's a PVP game does require a little more user preference. As that will help put all on a level playing field, anyone who feels uncomfortable with the controls will be at a disadvantage.

    Ok, we dont know if it is in or not at release. I expect, and i demand that it will be included and is in the game at release.

    But, this is such a simple, but nevertheless core feature of any game, and even more a MMOs with the necessity of a shit load of keys to use. That it is simple put a MUST HAVE.

    And for the game breaker arguement. I stopped reading about games as i heard they will not have WASD movement. It may be just a simple thing, but yes, it can be a game breaker.

    But honestly, the topic is at least in my mind a non issue, because ANET will implement it, they would be completely stupid not to implement it, and i am surprised that it isnt in at this very moment. They are experienced game developers after all, and there is not one reason not to implement it.

    This just proves that ANET have to implement this simple feature immediately. And i really hope ANET is aware of this, but i guess so.
