    Why would I?

As much as I like what I'm seeing so far from GW2 and am going to pre-purchase it, I'd rather wait few months for them to actually finish the core of the game so later they can focus on bugtracking/fixing and further improvements. There is no benefit for players and developers alike to release game before it's actually ready for release.

Unless of course, those developers want to eat and not live in a cardboard box in the park.

I'll probably get it a few months after release when the price drops and it's debugged and better balanced.

Having followed Gw2 since the beginning I still don't think I would buy it in its current state. ArenaNet has strived to make this game as good as humanly possible and a problem with an early release is that people will get used to a certain something, it could be any feature in the game, and it might be something that just doesn't work.

I see many games that go into beta and never seem to come out of it because the developers are content with people just wanting to play their game. Other betas actually release and try to release the initially promised content but eventually that falls by the wayside for bugfixes/content expansion. While content expansion might sound like a good thing it actually means they are neglecting what they might've set out to do earlier.

STO - Klingon race. That is my personal example of a game released with unfinished content. While they are releasing new content into the game they seem to be neglecting core systems.

tl:dr - I'll prepurchase for the beta but I want it finished before release.

Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play?

Sadly its threads like this that encourage developers to rush out half finished, buggy and feature incomplete games.

Let the GW2 developers do their jobs and make a nice polished, bug free game that you'll be proud to tell friends and family to buy. Rushing out a half finished game now would just give the haters more ammo, and  hurt the game company you all claim to love so much.

I've never known ANY company to rush out a product due to impatient consumers.  Movie industry, music, TV shows, games, they all release it either when it's ready or when they need a cash influx.  Money is the driving force, not screaming fans.

nop, i realy had high hopes for this game....but then the greed came with the shop......if they would have made it a sub i would have played it.

But now they added the shop i can go and play D3 (yeah i know it has RMT too but at least they never lied about it).

Would I forgive Anet for pulling an AoC launch? Not really. I would buy GW2 in whatever state they release it, but it would sour my feelings towards any of their future releases.

No, I prefer to wait to play MMO's when they are complete and released out the door.

Not so excited that I am willing to play a title if it is still incomplete in some manner, just makes me have to re-run content or something in the future.

But I'm not sure I'm even going to play this MMOARPG yet, probably, but not really sure it's my cup of tea.

I'm with bill! Hey, Bill, do you happen to know maybe will there be asura and/or sylvari available in the next beta in april?

Actually, I'm clueless there.  Any attempts to pull said info from ANet and NCsoft are met with an axe to the face.

In other words, if somebody posts "I won't buy it in its current state" is a troll?

How about as a guildwarrior (lol?) yourself have some faith in their own manifesto and let them deliver the awesome and complete game we've been waiting for?

  • Ambros123Ambros123 Member Posts: 877

While I would/will pre-order I won't play in it's current state.  I'd much rather wait till it's completely done before playing it.  I might dabble here n there in areas I know I won't be playing early on but my serious first few characters I won't be playing until the finished product.

Absolutely not.  Why post the poll if you assume all fans would say yes?  I could just assume all fans would, right?

Rule of the thumb: Do not pre-purchase the game until you get a solid release date. That is the only way to protect yourself from being disappointed. I would wait to hear some of the players who will pre-purchase and play beta weekend events. If their reviews are all positives, don't give in until you wait for the release date annoucement.

I think they will announce the release date on April 10th when the pre-purchase program begins. If they don't, it's best to restrain yourself.

I'll not buy it in its current state..

Only arenanet knows when the game is done, and thats when the game will be released, i'll never again buy a half finished game.

Tough i will pre-purchase the finished product on 10th of April.

NO and here's why. If we all did what happened with other game titles that released their games too early then these companies would NEVER learn from this mistake of releasing a game too early and would do it again. It's like releasing a pair of pants that hasn't been hemmed all the way and somehow people think it's okay to pay for them even tho they will fall off or have an opening in the crotch area exposing everything.

    No, just no.

I must admit having watched a lot of the videos from the last beta weekend I am excited with what I have seen.  However  I'd rather see more of the complete feature set before I put any money down.

Still saying that you're never going to be completely sure how all aspects work together before you actually play, so at some point you'll have to take a risk....at the moment though I think I'll hold off, not a fan of preordering anyway :D

That will be rather unlikely considering it doesn't have a subscription system.

Well my whole family is chomping at the bit to get this game and all of them want in on the beta, so i will be pre-purchasing 4 games on April 10th.

EDIT:  The question I'm asking is if it were offered to YOU specifically, and not a general release.  Even I wouldn't want them to launch before it's ready..........yes I would..........no...........yes............no.........

I love how you're opening statement reads, "This is NOT for trolls.." yet the only options in the poll are either "Yes" or "Are You Crazy" rather than just "No.".... Really?
