    BEEEEERRRRMMMMMM JUST UPGRADED!

I added a round IDE, and a round floppy cable

I also took my main front case fan, switched it out with a green one, and moved the other color one towards the back.

    check out the pics!

here are the new IDE cables, round, they're badass, one for cd, and one for floppy.

this is what my upgraded pc looks like with the side open

I just bought a GA-7vax Motherboard, as referred in this forum. I got it with a Athlon XP 2500+ processor which should run at 1.83 ghz, as also referred with the motherboard. But I can only get the processor to run as Athlon 1900+ 1.50ghz...The manual shows 6 CK ratio multiplier switches, and one SW1 switch, but my board has 5 multipliers and 2 SW switches. Anyone know how to deal with this? Maybe a manual for the 5 switches would help a ton.

hi im sorry for my lack of computer knowledge and question but im looking to buy a new graphics card and was planning on the geforce fx 5950 ultra but before i buy it i just wanted to make sure i can use it. i meet every requirement except the one im not sure about. it says A vacant PCI slot adjacent to the AGP slot. im not good with things unless they are spelled out sorry image the comp i have is about a 6 month old dell and that i havent added anything too yet and i would like to hope that it meets this requirement. any help for this most likely simple and stupid question would be apprieciated thanks in advance image

What it means is that the PCI slot directly underneath the AGP slot needs to be empty because of the card's bulk; if there is something there the card won't fit at all.  IF there does happen to be somthing there, simply remove and move it to the next vacant slot.  Put your new Geforce FX 5950 ultra in there and you're set.  Shouldn't really be a problem at all unless you've got all your PCI slots filled...which is nearly impossible to do on a Dell that hasn't been tampered with.

It's amazing that they design a video card that is so big it needs the space of two slots just to allow air ventilation for the fan :)

The difference with building/upgrading your own computer is that you lack a tech service (you are your own).  As far as purchasing parts, I recommend www.newegg.com.  Newegg may not be the cheapest in price, but if you are having problems, I've found them to be very helpful.  I've built a few computers and every time I've had a disfunctional part- they've replaced it, everytime I had a problem I couldn't figure out- they've helped.  I just find that people who are willing to work with people to get a good product is worth the little extra pocket change.

same thing as installing your video card, except in a pci slot. then just put in the setup cd and it'll be all set.
