i get it through 2 cable splicers, and a cable internet connection with a cable modem. the first splicer makes one cord go to the downstairs computer, and the other go upstairs, where its spliced again to go to 2 tvs and my computer
Excellent, I dragged up my old computer papers and I can tell you everything we got.
1) Your IBM Computer System includes a 1500 Mhz Intel Pentium 4 Processor with 128 MB SDRAM, CD-RW, IBM Rapid Access keyboard, Mouse & Floppy Drive, 40 Gig hard Drive, 16 Bit sound with Speakers, 56K Modem, Ethernet, Windows XP Home Edition Preloaded, Microsoft Works Suite, One year warranty and Norton Anti-Virus, all this for about a buck a day...etc.
Added Note: *Free RAM, No AOL (we got an extra 128 MB of RAM instead of AOL.
2) Shipping and Handling
4) 17" Deluxe-View IBM Colour Monitor
18) Tripplite Surge Protector
Now, out hard drive crashed a few months after the warranty ran out. We bought a new 40 GB hard drive and the man at our local computer store here put Windows XP Professional on it for free (legally or not, I don't know ). If that's not enough info, I guess I just have to open up my PC...
you definately need to upgrade your ram if you want to play EQ2. If i remeber correct it says you have SD type RAM, which means you might have to buy TWO chips of 256 RAM, or i think you can just get 1 Stick of 512 RAM. You need to replace your videocard too, though im not sure what type of slot you have. Can you find out if its PCI, AGP or VGA adapter for your Videocard Im guessing you have a PCI but u should make sure if your buying a new video card.
Note*
AGP- is the currently new adapters on motherboards that newer videocards require (Sometimes they manufacture AGP type videocards to fit in a PCI slot ,, or a PCI type videocard to fit on a VGA adapter, keep an eye out for those types of your forced to use them)
PCI - is what standard computers have in the last few years.
VGA - really old adapter that is concidered a relec.
Your computer processor looks fine along with your harddrive. As far as i can see, all you need to replace is your video card and RAM, thats IF your motherbaord doesn't make things more complicated which capatibility issues.

As a default the PC's should be on the same workgroup/netwrok etc. So downstairs drag your music into the "shared documents" folder under "my computer" then on you computer go to "my network" places and there should be "shared documents on <the pc downstairs name>" access and drag out you rmusic. If it does not show up you need to make sure you are on the same workgroup. Jeese man also, you have been to LANS right? how do you share files cause it is the exact seem thing...just using the network cause your connected, Cause the other way than that easy way is to right click on the file and go to "sharing and seceruity" and figure it from there cause that window is pretty straight forward. THen on the workgroup under my network it will show up as "<file name> on <computer file is on name>"______--}====>_____ |_105th Panzer Brigade_|
thanks, and yea i go to lans, but my cuz always sets up every1s pc while we get drinks/food, so i never really learned.
New cpu might be diffrent voltage too remember. Also you should really use new cement pad (or what ever you guys call it over there) to make sure good contact between cpu and heatsink. Old pad will be brittle and dry and not recommended to re-use on new cpu. Other than that its fairly straightforward. If amd just take care when attaching heatsink because some are kinda hard and have been known to crack top ceramic etc of cpu. Newer heatsinks with 2 clips are safer though
Originally posted by MurtBijani to REPLACE a CPU, is this all I have to do? 1. Turn of computer, unplug all wires. 2. Open it up, take off heatsink. 3. Open ZIF lever, and pull out CPU 4. Turn it on, go into BIOS and change FSB ...then you're set to go? do i needa like...add any of that gel or anything? and also if someone has extra time...waht cpu's are compatible with a Biostar M7NCD Ultra Motherboard... thanks
hmm... step 6 might be why my processor isnt running at its fulest. whats the setting called to change fsb? i cant find anything like it in bios.
Remember what I was saying about EverQuest running smoothlt? I was wrong, really wrong.
Playing the game isn't so much of a deal, except when I'm in the Plains of Knowledge of another place with lots of people. But LOADING and UNLOADING the game? It takes forever. Guess I REALLY need to get more RAM. Or is it a Video Card I need...?
And are there 1 GB sticks of RAM? I thought I remember seeing them but I can't remember that well. It has to be SD I think though.
guys, I think we should have new posts for each new good computer deal, its quite annoying to go to the last page each time to find something new, and you dont even know if its new or not.
Yah thier is 1 Gig stick of RAMs. But not SD as far as i know, i could be wrong. If they did exist im sure they would cost plenty. As for your smooth problem. When you lag because their is alot happening in the game (Eg. Lots of players in 1 area) thats MAINLY videocard problem. Solve this lag by getting a better videocard. To solve long loading problems (Eg. starting the game, loading new areas, etc..) you will need more RAM. You said you had a 32MB videocard?? If this is true i know how you feel man, my last system was running on a 32MB videocard and when i play Counterstrike, the second someone throws a smoke bomb, its over for me. Loading ANYTHING took longer then ever. I didn't know any better untill i went to a cyber cafe and used their computers. Thats when i saved up and built my own and i gotta tell yah she runs like a dream. Ill give you the total price of the cost of my system so you'll get an understanding if your using your money wisely.
With current estimated prices
- Pentium 4 2.4Ghz = 200$ - 40gig harddrive = $$$ (I completely forgot) - ATI Radeon 9200 SE 128MB DDR AGP Video Card = 90$ - 2x of 512 Sticks of RAM = 1024 RAM of DDR MEMORY = 200$
These are just the main things that people look for in a system, i would name a whole bunch of other componants in my system but you wouldn't be nessasry. A system like thise is good for gaming and is above average to those other computers that companies like Dell sell. Costing me only 850$

I activated my EverQuest account last night, and except for the long loading and closing times (which I think everyone has), the game runs fine.
I won't be needing a RAM upgrade until EQ2 comes out, and when it does, I would need SDRAM, huh? Another 512 stick will do.
