Anyone know how to deal with this? Maybe a manual for the 5 switches would help a ton.

In the BIOS the FSB is probably set as 100mhz. What you will want to change it to is 166 which equals the 2500's 333mhz FSB. And make sure to put the clock mulitplyers back to normal.

AMD 2800 doesnt run at 2800 remember. It doesnt run at 1200 though ,as far as i remember its round the 2.1 mark so you do have something set wrong but maybe not as bad as you though at first :)

  • SerienSerien Member CommonPosts: 8,460

yea 2500 runs at about 1.83

so 2800 would be around 2100 or so..

oh i was mearly making a connection, that my $217 cpu amd 3200, is worth pretty much nothing, becouse its equivilent to a p4 2.2, and a p4 2.2 is much cheaper than my amd 3200

im not exaclty sure of the reason, but amd's run faster with less power (ex. 3200 has 2.2 ghz but runs at 3.2... supposedly anyway, thats what ive heard).

If you have the time and the money you could by a case that has a refidgeration unit built in with a cooling block which sits on the processor.

Ok sicne I have a Biostar M7NCD Ultra motherboard, I can go up to Athlon 3200, so it says...

so I am wondering, if I were to buy a 3200 ...waht would I have to do to upgrade..?

before I take out my 2500, would  I have to change anything..like bios..?

then once I take it out, replace the heatsink and all the crap...waht would I now have to do..?

i think its as easy as talking the old one out, and puting a new one in. no   bios changes unless ud like to change the fsb. kinda like puting in Ram

You may need to change the voltage settings in the BIOS for the new, faster chip. Details "should" be disclosed with the new chip.
