Maybe since they gave a free month to all the lvl 50's from what I understand should be everyone hwo played more than a week casually. Then all those buddy keys they pimped out count as subs also. This is nothing more than legal fraud that EA and Bioware are using ot dupe investors.
"I am not in a server with Gankers...THEY ARE IN A SERVER WITH ME!!!"
bioware wont let my account die, i cancelled 2 months ago, got reactivated with 7 days game time a week and a half ago or something, 10 days later, my account is still playable and i didnt resub at all.... no wonder why they say the game is doing great and they havent lost subscribers... the next investor call is gonna look great for them, considering they are just letting everyone play for free.. even people who dont wanna play
DAoC Guin forever! Armyn Ab Treanid! Rhiadan! Vae Victis. And God bless Granarc, rest in peace friend. Companies like Bioware don't have a clue as to how to create the type of mmorpg and community we had on that server.

The 8th Tribe, Mid/Guin, here.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
bioware wont let my account die, i cancelled 2 months ago, got reactivated with 7 days game time a week and a half ago or something, 10 days later, my account is still playable and i didnt resub at all.... no wonder why they say the game is doing great and they havent lost subscribers... the next investor call is gonna look great for them, considering they are just letting everyone play for free.. even people who dont wanna play
So basically they are committing inventory fraud. All that will do is cause shrinkage, they are hoping they will have some magical boom in sub numbers on one of their content patches in the next year to make up fo the loss. That explains why they fired all those people and shut down so many games. Since they are already in debt with the game they will have to downsize to make up for the heavy loss to stock price, licencing fees to Lucas $$$, and lack of new players and sub fees. Basically they pre downsized to afford the cost of a failed game, which they still have to pay heavy fees to George Lucas for, they probably wish they could go FTP, but because of George Lucas they cant afford to lol, their only option is going to be to kill it or get into some cumbersome licenced deal with advertisers on the FTP version, lots and lots of advertisers. Its funny to watch them suffer though, god I hate EA games.
It starts by people playing less and less, but who still subscribe. And then slowly these people realize they're paying and paying, but not really playing all the much, and it's only then do they decide to stop subbing. So it definitely takes awhile to see the attrition. But make no mistake, it's coming. And I hope Bioware has a plan B.
Creative accounting... I canceled in Jan, they reactivated me for a " free weekend " in Feb, a " free week " in Mar, and now they are have reactivated my account for a " free month " in April.
They are keeping our subs active by being liars, thieves, and cheats....
Eventually the investors will figure out they are being lied to and decieved and then watch the floor fall out.
Just to echo, of the 30+ people that are on the MMO alias I belong to at work and bought TOR (plus a few multiple accts in there too), only two are still subscribed, and one of those just reactivated for a month to get the free 30.
The only way subs have "not dropped" is if they counted every single trial acct, buddy key, free weekend login and every other scam they have been doing to get anyone to log in. And even then I don't believe it.
No drop in "paying subs" as compared to right after launch?
Impossible.
People know what those kind of numbers look like, both in game and server load, and it just ain't happening.
BioWare aka. EA is full of shit! The subscription numbers haven't dropped, eh? Well, the low populated servers and the lack of activity, in general, say otherwise. They can pull out as many numbers out of their collective asshole as they want. It won't change the fact that this game's dud and a very poor MMO.
The more EA opens its mouth, the more i want to see it fail. I have never invested so much hate into a company before. EA's the epitome of what's wrong with today's gaming market. This game was intended as nothing more than a quick crash grab like everything else they churn out these days. Here's hoping that Activision's demise soon follows.

Hahahaha......yea I figured it was something like that. There's several of these comments in the thread. Im not sure how long they can keep it up, but I guess they will for as long as they can.
Its sad and funny at the same time. Swtor should have been so much better than it was. I would like to say it still could be one day, but I dont think they have the time now. I sometimes feel as if their time is soon too, or has already run out.

Swtor will be put on maintenance mode like Warhammer soon enough. Content updates will only be comprised of stuff they are working on now, nothing more.
Swtor should of been better, but I'm sure EA will not learn anything from this at all. You cannot learn from your mistakes when you won't admit you made them.
I believe they're in denial myself but there's the article.
Me personally I'm going to believe the company that runs the game before I believe a bunch of people who are hell bent on thinking everyone in the world must think the same way they do, I mean most of the people on this site hate WOW does it mean WOW is lying about their sub numbers? (well actually many of these same trolls have excuses for why the numbers they release can't possibly be true either).
Having said that I do think that it's possible marketing practices like everyone playing for free for like the last two to three weeks helps but I also see this as a good thing (whether it's because they are bleeding subs or not).
It's good to see a game that I enjoy as much as I do TOR give the customers something for what I consider to be nothing. I mean honestly this far in TOR is a much better game than say STO in the same time frame of release and all Cryptic ever did was release more c store crap constantly even with the knowledge that a large percentage of the player base was not happy with what they were doing including the constant releases onto the c store.
the bottom line is only time will tell where TOR is going to end up for my money I see then getting and keeping about 600-700k players but to break the million mark and sustain that level it seems they'll have to take care of the pvp crowd.
Sadly it is not Bioware that is saying that, that are people who are fully responsible why game didn`t made bigger success and that kind of people do not play games looks like it.
On the other hand, you can troll about WOW as you like but still over 7 million people play that game (Personaly, I took a brake, 2nd one in my 7 year old history of playing WOW) so WOW is ULTIMATE King when it comes to MMORPG, still and will be like that for few more years.

The post is about Bioware saying subs are not dropping. They say subs are not dropping..but servers are quieter. They say subs are not dropping.. but they need to use free subs already offering free play periods (for a new game?!) You yourself see subs potentially dropping, but believe what Bioware says that subs are not dropping. Why would it drop to 600-700 if the game is enjoyable? shouldnt it be rising? More likely, a core like the game (and that is good) but for the general populace it is a flawed amateur carbunkle of a game (in their opinion)
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
they just lost 2 subs - mine and my wife's as I just canceled both.
I should have done it earlier - but I forgot it was a "recurring" payment.. good that this post enlightened me before it got billed again....
hehe :-) thanks MMORPG
EDIT: thanks Tayah for posting this....
OMG! Two whole subs? Time to pack it up... game is done. I logged on 20 seconds after maintenance and there were only four people in the fleet! The game is doooomed!!!

Yah, oddly I can log into mine too and I haven't been paying or playing since Feb, just checked on my son's computer that still had it installed. Maybe my 7 days kicked in or something I dunno..No reason I'd get the 30 days free since I didn't pay or play in March/April.
I cancelled after 1.2 patch but they gave me free 30 days of sub.
So apparently I'm still "subbed" :J
I suggest going back once more after the free 30 days to make sure that your account is fully closed out if you aren't going to be playing anymore. I had an issue with this myself getting charged once more after canceling. This was before they started the free weeks so their systems might be better now.
Just a fair warning.. Have fun with the free game time though..
PM before you report at least or you could just block.

first: 1.2 gave a week of free play for everyone with a lvl 50 char (or a certain legacy lvl)
second: he (or she) who had an active sub this month, got an extra month for free.
third: if you don't pay (or did not qualify for the mentions above), your acc got closed. simple as that.
"I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up! Not me!"
Of course subscriber number havent dropped since they keep having Free Weekends, 25 Friend Invites, 30day/7day Free. Even those that have cancelled still have active accounts
Bioware wont let anybody leave.
That last part struck me funny, ty for the morning laugh.
Looks to be true, their egos won't let them face reality.
