There has been thread after thread on the official forums asking for server merges. Those threads are quickly closed and merged with the one thread asking for them.

I used to defend this game but after having 4 50's to max even with their companions at max, there is nothing left to do.  Folks are not running ops,  the daily missions on belsavis, ilum and  and now Corella I solo most of the time without seeing a soul.   The first few days after the patch you could not find a mob to kill.

    Folks are board to death.

They reactivated former subs for free and then they say they have lost no subs. Sure, that's right, 100% retention, no problem.

As I'm a really casual player, I'm still having a blast going through the story line of several characters. I must admit though.. it does seem like my server is getting smaller. There is a lot of talk of server merges in general chat and the need for them.

    Spose we'll see.

    Disclaimer: I'm not attacking you.

I think you represent the majority of players who play this game in several ways.  Most people who have stated that they still enjoy the game have followed that up by pointing out that the Star Wars aspect is the reason they're playing.  Many people also say that they are still having fun, and they play quite casually by experiencing several character stories.

I think this speaks to the things that TOR has going for it: Star Wars lore and compelling character stories reminscent of KOTOR.  It's really too bad that BW tried to force this into an MMO schema.  The entire game would be better served as a KOTOR 3 with different characters.   Imagine playing through a story with 4 or 8 different perspectives?  It would have been amazing.  Instead, they've provided a themepark MMO for casual players with no end game progression of any substance.  Once these types of players are finished with experiencing player stories and the novelty of the Star Wars universe, they will move on just like any other B2P title you would play through a couple times.

It being SW themed can only go so far. The core game itself is so awful and uninspiring, i question Bioware's competence on so may levels. They sold a mmorpg on the box, but what's inside has very little mmorp to it.

Yeah, you give everyone who ever had an acocunt free game time and then consider their account active.

    See how that works?

Funcom's been doing it for years.....nothing new there.

I believe they're in denial myself but there's the article.

I think the regular edition of the game has not fallen outside the top 20 for PC games on Amazon since it released so I can see their sub numbers not going down without even counting the free weekends. That is still a good amount of copies being sold each day just from one retailer and not counting all the other sales.

As long as they are selling equal or more new copies to the number of cancelled subs they are getting the numbers will not go down.

Light trend on torstatus is back to where it was 2 (EU) or 3 (NA) weeks ago. EA share price stays below $15.

    That's a paddlin'.

MMORPG genre is dead. Long live MMOCS (Massively Multiplayer Online Cash Shop).

lol EA PR team strike again!

If EA told me it would be dark later tonight i wouldn't belive them.

This article sums up what total BS they will try & palm off to protect their failing product(s)

Our guild was approximately 100 strong at lauch (most of which are RL & TS m8's)

after 3-4 weeks there was less than 40, by the 6th week there was a dozen or so.

Im sure this sort of thing is server wide, (hence the server merges) so they must have lost at

    least 20-30% of subs

    Same EA same BS

The Deathstar destroyed planets...Lucas Arts destroyed Galaxies

Funcom haven't said anything about subscribers since 2008 so good job with that statement. The only way you can approximate the number of subscribers is by going through their financial report.

Almost certainly not the case though. There will be different Amazon charts for different countries of course but sure enough it just manages to be in the top 20 PC & Mac chart.

If you look in the PC & Video game chart however it is way down: been outsold by such worthy products as: the PS3 320 Slim; the PS Vita 16Gb memory card and the 4Gb card; (and there are stats on hardware stuff); Skyrim for PS3; Skyrim for Xbox; Skyrim for PC; Halo Reach .... lots of titles that are hardly new releases. Check it out yourself. So unless EA's retention rate is really good ..... this is just based on the Amazon chart you mentioned of course ...

    Daniel Ericson?

Hmmm, wasn't he the one who told us the worlds in SWTOR were 'open' and that no-one wanted to play a space-flight sim?

  • Nekky_FateNekky_Fate Member UncommonPosts: 162

Yep, they are nuts. I have seen at least 50+ people from my guild vanish over the past 2 months. I know our core group of members have all moved on to play something else as well. We all cancelled before the free 30 days and still uninstalled without playing any of it.

  • greyed-outgreyed-out Member Posts: 99

If Bioware/EA are really manipulating the numbers as deviously as they appear to be (counting lapsed subs, free weekends / promotions as subs, etc) then they may get away with that for a little while, but the real world will catch up to them eventually.  And Wall Street, investors, analysts and even possibly the government won't be very happy with them.

So either one of two scenarios is taking place: 1)Bioware/EA are being reasonably truthful with their numbers or 2)the situation over there is far worse than anyone publically comprehends and they are pulling out all the desperate attempts to right the ship at the expense of possibly sinking the ship.

This rat is off the ship, and all my friends who played SW:TOR with my at launch have now quit as well.  I find it hard to believe that others aren't going through a similar situation.

That said, I'll probably re-sub once they add a cross-server dungeon finder.

It's kinda hard for EA/BW and fans of TOR defending the game when the so called boots on the ground players see and expierence this type of unsubbing happening everyday. The proof that this game in only 6 months is declining is right out in the open.

  • dadante666dadante666 Member UncommonPosts: 402

they been manipulating  numbers since the begin of the beta ,saying aamount of playable class by numbers and  breaking record,i play the game in beta and 1 month  and unsub .

sadly its not an mmo i will say more a console game whit co-op alternative , BW is soo mess up that they win the poop glammy + lay off 1000 employ already, even if  1 person its paying to play the game they will charge him and dont care what others say .

the game is dead from the begin was a total fail and  ea on theyr own  if you like it play it if not  dont play it simple as that but i will not negate the truth

What I find funny is that the answer of "ways to keep someone logged in" are "more daily quests."

Even the most ardent grinder quickly becomes bored with dailies.  Everyone else recognizes dailies for what they are, filler trying to mask the fact that you, as a developer, are too damn lazy to actually innovate.

wasn't what i expected either, but i still had a lot of fun with it.

was a great game to go from 1-50 in, even a couple of different characters.  being story based i thought it had a great base and i've recommended it to friends for that.

i have a hard time believing though that it would retain the majority of its subs once that story aspect of the game is exhausted, and really how long can that take?  to echo the above post, more power to those who are finding it fun once the story is gone.

I can say completely honestly that of the over 20 people I knew who got the game, only ONE still plays.

The 60 member guild I was part of for TOR..... it folded.  2 or 3 still play, but the overwhelming majority have since left.

People are welcome to interpret these annoucements and different sources citing subscriber data to their heart's content. Stable, successful businesses do not give away their product en-masse for an entire month when business is going well, period.

It does not matter if it is a cell phone subscription, cable TV or a lemonade stand for that matter. Sound companies do not give away 1/12th or 08% of their yearly revenue to make people feel good.

  • RusqueRusque Member RarePosts: 2,785

Still 100% retention rate? Quite impressive.  Only MMO in history to hit a certain number and have it not move at all, in either direction. lol
