    Dear op,

    please calm down.

They already told us, that you can play the whole game without any disadvantage, if you do not use the cash shop. Players can only get small benefits like xp-buffs and of course a lot of cosmetic stuff like nice armor. But it is already clear, that the cash shop does not give an advantage in PvP. Oh, and I remember that you can purchase stuff like additional character-slots. I think it will be completely fair and players will like it.

Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need.

Game appears to be good. Money grabbing is not good though.

Isn't DDO free to play though? I'm arguing against cash shop in GW2 because it costs $60. And gems because, well it's cheating and there's no point in me getting the rare lootz anymore much like there is none in games with rampant cheating.

They could easily give you test cash and have you test buy and test use items to....you know....test.

Even though you're most likely right, even if it does appear - I have no problem with it.  The only problems I have with cash shops are 'exclusive' items.

Anything I can earn in game through a time investment is fair game as far as I'm concerned.

    Ok, so a hypothetical:

What if I'm playing GW2 this weekend and I'm enjoying the hell out of the game and I don't use the cash shop at all because I don't need a potion that turns me into a chair or a new shade of lavendar for my outfit or a 10% crafting experience boost for an hour. Should I ACT outraged and go to the forums to "fight the power" even if I'm not? Can you give me perhaps a template that I can use to express outrage correctly?

    "Loading screens" are not "instances".

ANet did GW2 for charity. The company saw that we, MMORPG themepark players, only had WoW to play and decided for their good will, to develop a game called GW2. They dont even need to get back the money spent on the last 5 years. Just get all the fortune from box sales to make new content without any profit at all.

yeah ddo is free to play but you gotta but the adventure packs to get some of the more interesting content.

What I'm hoping for is that they'll allow you to buy expansions for gems. It would be completely awesome to buy an expansion with in game gold.

IF the cash shop is in this WBE and IF I find anything I find objectionable, I'll be sure to provide feedback on it and everyone else sould as well. However, there is nothing inherently wrong with Gems of the Cash Shop. There are plenty of threads arguing about it, but it's part of the business model and the revenue will be important for ongoing development of the game. I anticipate looking for something to buy each month, just to show my ongoing support, but it's nice to know it's optional.

Down with legalized cheating and unfairness! Down with cash shop in a $60 game!

Remember, gold buying is illegal in other online games for a reason. Gamers, rise up like we did in Operation Rainfall! Except this time against companies trying to squeeze more cash out of us! Enough with on the disc DLC and cash shops in non F2P games. It's time we as gamers take a stand! Arenanet needs to fight the gold farmers instead of becoming the gold farmers themselves to profit. They haven't fought the farmers yet and yet they implement legalized RMT? Backwards.

Kudos to the heroes who reported Capcom for having on disc DLC to the better business bureau. You can be a hero too! Complain about gems and the cash shop in every feedback form you get, and on the official beta forums.

Another poor college student that doesn't get it.   Not having a sub fee every month isn't good enough for you people 'eh?  Do you really expect these companies to put out these games and not make money on them?  Do you really think that they can cover their costs by just charging for the box alone?  Do you realize the amount of cash it takes to pay people to create and support the game, their benefits, the building, servers, electricity....

I say bring on the cash shop!  I want convience items.  Oh and if the devs won't offer to sell convience...then foreign gold farmers will.

I'm looking forward to the Guild Wars 2 cash shop.

You can trade gems for in game gold. Say I don't feel like grinding out in-game gold because I worked late and just want to get to the good stuff when it's time to relax and play games. I happen to have an extra $5 in my wallet because I skipped the Chocolate Creme Frappuccino. You have some extra in-game gold but can't afford $5 in cash shop gems. We trade. I save time. You save real world money. Dogs and cats start living together.

    brilliant!

I used to have 7 accounts with SWG.. so what CAN I buy for $105 a month?

    [Mod Edit]

  • Egad is this satire or a horribly commentary on the shallowness of our political discourse?

Don't buy the game.  If you riot about something knew about before the purchase you are being completely childish.

The Cash Shop is great and I fully support it. There is nothing unfair about it from what I can say. Even if it was I will hold my opinion until I see the injustice in action come launch.

You're out of your league sir. Stop making assumptions about things you don't fully understand. It was hidden for a reason. And that reason was that silly gamers like to be dramatic and draw conclusions. Have faith in the company who is trying to carry on the legacy from the first game.

I'll complain if I see anything in there I consider to be Pay2Win.  But, given Anet's track record so far, I don't think i'll have to exercise that option.

Agreed. I don't see the issue that people have with GW2's cash shop. We're essentially saving $15 a month by not paying a subscription fee and I for one, don't have an issue with using that $15 to purchase some fluff from the cash shop.

Games that have a cash shop and charge a subscription fee, kind of annoy me though... But that's neither here nor there.

    You go girl!

Have you made the riot banners and t-shirts yet? I take it we organize at the starting area and then march toward Divinity's Reach and occupy the central square there? We also need some kind of slogan, a catchy phrase sure to make the non-believers see the light, any ideas? May the Gospel of Betakodo forever ring true in Tyria!

I have 0 problem with cash shops as long as you don't get an advantage in pvp, like extra dps, or items that no one else can get unless only by buying with rl money.

That's what I'll do too, spend the $15 bucks I would be spending on a subscription to the cash shop for fluff items.
