Tera just going down in Korea and Aion still beats it. Now people will came and talk "but our is western version, better then Korea's one..." Yeah, right. Same grind crap. Aion also was westernized (but, too late) and it went F2P. Action combat? Why then I can't cast on move? Heck, I had better combat experience with Vindictus crap than Tera. Sorry, but level 20 in Tera was really enough for me (5 levels was pretty enough, but I tried to find reason that will kept me in game, only found that I'm waisting time). I don't need level cap and uber-extra-omfg Bam's to realise that game sux for me. Questing is bored, like any other mmo quests, but at least, in some games quests are interesting in Tera are boring to hell and story is "WTH I'm doing this crap again and again...".
At the end of the day, you can get game out of Korea, but Korea out of game - NOT.
Ever play action combat game? Most of them have root animation, dark soul, demon soul, monster hunter some of the best action combat games all have root. Even street fighter does.
Ever played Call of Duty? Well, I can shot and move at same time.
Also only reason Aion beats Tera in korean is because Korean likes grinding for lvl, sorry but they like very different things than we do. If they made Tera's grinding about 10x longer it probably beat Aion easy.
Really? I thought Koreans QQ about lacking end-game content, what Bluehole confirmed, too.
Don't feel bad because "your" game has shitty tab targeting ice skating WOW combat :P, again... all the best action RPGs have animation root, it's not a bad thing... not having it is a bad thing.
In regard to the honeymoon period, i give this game 2 months, after that there is going to be a huge mass exodus.
F2P in about 6-9 months.

Says the guy who mentioned Street Fighter. Talk about horrible examples.
Well maybe when all of you people realize that playing a cookie cutter character destined to fill some class/archetype that visually appears almost identical to the other million or so people playing the game isn't that much fun ... you can then stop playing this garbage which will in turn send a message to the companies producing these games that "we" are finished, and then *finally* this stagnant genre might finally see some forward progression.
But we all know that won't happen. You guys (...and gals...) will play anything they shove down your throats (and think it's great for a day, or a week, or maybe a month) because that's just your mindless mentality. So here we are...

I am playing it because the combat rivals any game I have ever played, let alone MMORPGS and the environments just get better and better as I level as does my class.
Nevermind MMORPGs, this game for me blows every other game i've played out the window. But that's just me.
Well i made it to level 25 and for the first time today i couldn't face logging in . My copy of Tera has gone into PC desk drawer along with Age of Conan, SWTOR, Rift., LOTR and all the other turkeys i've bought and got bored of.
So basically what your saying is you don't like MMOs at all and you just don't want to play any of them yet you buy them still anyways for stuff that while it might be original in some areas just feels the same to you? Sounds more like you just keep buying games that aren't not for you. Maybe your mind has devolved into the simplicity of FPS games (which ironically are far more repetative) or maybe some sort of RTS? Just sounds like you keep diving into the same genre you don't like and expecting some magical thing to happen and change your mind about it... and by magical thing I mean something massive.
Ya know why? Because people capped to fast, if it tooke them 10x longer to lvl they can't complain about end game content and give BlueHole more time to make them.
This is not true. They capped as the developers intended it to be.
The people who rushed were able to cap in under 2 days. But many others played without rushing and still reached the cap within the first week. And more and more players are reaching max level as of now.
Bluehole had 1 year and half (since january 2011 when the game launched ) to prepare a proper endgame for us western players.
If they don't feel like they pump out reguraly a proper amount of endgame they should have reduced the exp rates making it longer to reach the end game.

Warrior and slayer for life.
/_This, I do feel like the people that are playing slayers and warriors are generally more happy with the game.

I think it's just because you get what you expected from the action combat, I feel ranged classes are poorly represented in the game tbh, healing is good though but fighting mobs to level up is boring.
I mean by level 35 a warrior with your glyphs and combos set up to your liking and proper execution of the moves and it feels so fast...
My fingers mess up so much trying to react to PvP situations sometimes lol.
Ya know why? Because people capped to fast, if it tooke them 10x longer to lvl they can't complain about end game content and give BlueHole more time to make them.

They messed up big time.
I dont think extending the grind is the answer, perhaps for the pve servers but lets be serious...those are fairly low population. Its the pvp servers that will keep this game running and they have messed up by not providing viable early pvp. To do back to back duels you need to be out of town and to have a healer come with you. They should put like a designated dueling area with unit collision in front of velika or something with an item you can click on to restore HP..and mana for caster classes....or they could just restore hp and mana to the levels they were before the duel started and that would work as well but i feel a designated area would be funner.
Ya know why? Because people capped to fast, if it tooke them 10x longer to lvl they can't complain about end game content and give BlueHole more time to make them.

Nobody has even beat Balders temple hardmode, kelsaik normal or hardmode.
En Masse has withheld some stuff as well that they should release really soon I hope. There's training grounds for the master glyphs, the nexus for cosmetics and enchantment fodder and all these make the hardmodes easier so you can actually beat them and actually get tier 13 gear.
The real thing i'll hold out till is BGs, if I get bored enough to unsub so be it, I can just resub when they release BGs. It's no big deal to me.
Lastly casually and for a first timer you can't get 60 in a week, trust me the people who got 60 in 2-3 days have 60s in KTERA, most people in the game are around level 15-40. Those zones are always packed and there's not too many 60s.
There is a designated area in Velika for duels (a quest leads you to it), but I didn't check if there is an NPC that restores you there as I was busy doing other stuff.
Well i made it to level 25 and for the first time today i couldn't face logging in . My copy of Tera has gone into PC desk drawer along with Age of Conan, SWTOR, Rift., LOTR and all the other turkeys i've bought and got bored of.
A few weeks back i put a very positive post about this game. It was something different, gorgeous looking and easy to play. I thought i wouldn't mind the grind and enjoyed it at first then it slowly dawned on me just how repetitive this game is.
The first dungeon Bastion of Lok was just unispiring. Mobs same as in the world with those annoying groups of tiny monster that follow you around all the time. End bosses were a mash of running around button bashing. Got fed up of constantly dodging attacks and having to run constantly after the boss.
Quests and mobs got samey. I thought i could grind through this as the combat was different but even that became stale and boring.
BIg gamebreaker for me was constantly having to group quests to kill BAMS. First bam was fun then having to kill 5 basilisks got tedious especially when it took forever to kill them. Not a solo friendly game.
Loot/gear visually is unappealing. I never got exxcited winning blue gear in dungoens as it all looks the same. crafting is boring and goes nowwhere unless you a fanboy.
So all in all if you ccan stand the grind then fine but i've had enough and my copy of Tera is destined to the MMO drawer of cobwebs never to be seen again.
First, rift does not belong in that drawer, neither does TERA, in my opinion. Trion is the most innovative MMO developer out there. Tera is close with its vcombat.
I'll agree, after the first 35 levels it really slowed to a snails crawl in terms of leveling. I'll agree that even I at one point said that grinding out quests would not get stale because of combat, yet it is a bit. Still, I got out of the 30s and I am now almost 42. Game is getting better for one reason or another. I just find that I need to mix in even just TRYING to solo BAMs, dungeons, and questing, You CAN solo a bam, that is equal level or 2 or 3 beneath you. You just have to be good. Its definately a challenge. Everyone always whines that games arent challenging. Go fight a BAM that is the same level as you.
The first dungeon is definately laughable. Dont base the rest of the game on that. My buddy was the same way, he was so unimpressed about the first TWO dungeons. We ran through cultist refuge(the third one, starts around lvl 35), and he enjoyed it. We ran it almost a half dozen times. There were several packs of mobs that had a certain ability or two you had to be aware of, even as ranged at times. Bosses were so-so challanging depending on your tank. As a warrior, half the time the tank would go down and I would need to hop in and tank.
The gear isnt meant to be glowy or shiney. Thats WoW. The gear in this game has a certain fashion/art style to it. It is incredibly detailed , but not a flashy shiny glowy sparkly gear that you are accustomed to. I will say a lot of gear does look the same. I''ll give you that.
And constantly dodging the boss..thats the point? I cant believe you tried playing this game and now complain that you had to dodge, move, chase down mobs and the boss... The game has no stand still combat. Go play a tab target game.
The game picks up aftre the 30s, in my opinion. And is definately more interestng as melee as you need to dodge a lot more sh_t.
There is a designated area in Velika for duels (a quest leads you to it), but I didn't check if there is an NPC that restores you there as I was busy doing other stuff.
no unit collision there to my knowledge, and nothing to restore hp after the duel.
Stop right there and never come back. If you can make that statement means you knows absoutly nothing about the game and should just stop spreading lies.
Which is funny because of how many other people are saying the EXACT same thing as me. Tera is NOT the first MMORPG with Dodge and action oriented combat. Tera combat is not offering anything new in terms of combat to anyone other than those with vastly limited expierence in the MMORPG field...to WoW players its like OMG ive never ever seen this before its RADICALLY new...
It is NOT NEW. You dont know this because of your limited MMORPG experience...hell most people on Tera's forums dont even know that it was released over a YEAR AGO in Asia...you actually think its a NEW game.
Ya ofc AoC DCUO and game such as dragon nest and vindictus all touched upon it. However none them manage to bring it to the lvl of polished Tera has. Same is said to most game, they are nothing new they just take ideas and polished them to the next lvl.
Ofc i knew it was released over a year ago, i played KTera, just because it was out there doesn't mean its not new to us since msot of us can't play KTera. Also wtf does been new have to do with anything? The combat is great new or not.
Haha, seriously dude, you need to drop your rose tinted glasses.
TERA has it's gameplay down but saying it's more polished than the other games is just you being all loved up with the game.
If someone can compare Tera with Street fighter, Monster hunter, Dark Soul, then I can compare it with whatever I want.
Street fighter is a skilled based fighter game that has root animation (like Tera), Monster hunter and dark soul and demon soul are one of the best action combat and hardest action combat games out there and they have root animation like (Tera). Your example COD was a FPS.... idk how closely related FPS is with action combat rpg....
Haha, seriously dude, you need to drop your rose tinted glasses.
TERA has it's gameplay down but saying it's more polished than the other games is just you being all loved up with the game.
Actual gameplay itself? Definitely...no rose tinted glasses here. I mean it is the unreal 3 engine after all.
Theres a lot of other minor things that lack polish but its not the gameplay itself.
Yeah...an 8 year old engine. Like the rest of the game, offers nothing new or innovative...not even the little girls running around in short skirts.
BTW, gameplay...is also story, which is horrible. Crafting which is generic. Depth which is lacking. Quests which are ordinary run of the mill.
So all the game has...is combat...which isnt new.
Rose....tinted....glasses.
If a games progression comes down to my example below...the game is BAD no matter what its combat is like.
"Oh no, those terabibledibles are gowing in too much size, if we dont remove some of them their etheral force will consume the land causing the terabibledibles to be too numerous to others and cause great harm to the serenity of our spirit"
Well gosh I better go...wait...wut? oh well, ill get some XP if I go do it...at least I have a super smash dodge button with action combat! terabibledibles here I come, must protect my serenity of spirit or whatever the hell he said...
I hope we shall crush...in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country." ~Thomes Jefferson

Not to interject but I just wondered if you realize how impotent your posts sound? It's like watching a baby throw a fit over another kid getting a baba. The funniest thing is that you're here to troll, but no one is getting madder than you. Grow up.
I don't care how many MMO's come out from here to infinity, they will continue to mimic or copy each other to some extent. IF you find yourself boring of the "Run of the mill" stuff... perhaps single player games will better suit you.
To further my point:
Questing:
Fetch Quests - Done before
Story Quests - FFXI and countless others... DONE BEFORE
Public Quests - Done before
Quests that adversly effect the world around you - WoW did this with phasing.
Combat:
Tab Target - this horse is completely dead and rotted away to dust and peopel are still beating it with sticks
Turn Based - Atlantica Online
Action Combat - The game who's forum you're currently posting in, there was also a good F2P title out there.... meh
Combo system - Aion/ that game that died before it even came out that had the wheel that constantly shifted
Story:
Good vs. Evil - done 1000000000000000000 times, even outside of MMO's
I want yur stuff - Done before
WAR! - Done before "World of Tanks?"
I digress, my point is, guy who's complaining that everything is run of the mill; is that MMO's will constantly repeat each other becaue this is a business, and a steadily growing one.. Dev's do this to make money now, what sells will be whats made. Even your innovative thinkers, still have profit on there minds, if they fail to produce the cash they go belly up and they're stuck in there mom's basements eating angst sandwhiches.

So, try to calm down, K cupcake?
I think one of the primary reasons for all of these temper tantrum posts such as the one you're replying to, is the seemingly huge overlap between a soon to be released MMO's community, and League of Legends (a game full of self-aggrandizing fans who have somehow managed to delude themselves into thinking a sidegame built from an RTS for people who weren't good at the actual RTS is somehow more skillful than the more complex game that it was derived from, and then basing their entire self worth on the imagined difficulty of their game).
Every time I logged into Tera I had this feeling like i was playing on a Private hacked server. I can't tell you how many world bosses i've killed with groups of random people only to see not a SINGLE drop. Not even gold or a tooth to sell for 1 copper...
It's as if they pulled together a private server and haven't finished the loot tables yet. I worked with a group of 5 players to kill a world boss 60 world boss for a quest and we got not a single drop, no grey vend trash, no equipment, no money. And the quest rewarded us with 100k exp. For those who don't know, standard level 56 range quests reward over 1,000,000 exp on average.
So yeah, game feels like private 2nd rate server. I'm pretty sure the only updates you'll ever see are 2nd hand attempts at converting the Korean version to Western. Things will get missed, bugs WE westerners find won't get fixed as the language barrier pretty much screws that up.
The graphics are great, the gameplay is great, the boss fights are awesome...
The classes are pretty dull sadly...
I've moved on, Diablo 3 in 6 hours will keep me busy for a few days I expect... Maybe more if i'm lucky!

And is definately more interestng as melee as you need to dodge a lot more sh_t.
no unit collision there to my knowledge, and nothing to restore hp after the duel.
Haha, seriously dude, you need to drop your rose tinted glasses.
TERA has it's gameplay down but saying it's more polished than the other games is just you being all loved up with the game.
This is not a game.
Actual gameplay itself? Definitely...no rose tinted glasses here. I mean it is the unreal 3 engine after all.
Theres a lot of other minor things that lack polish but its not the gameplay itself.
Grow up.
^ This... is true
I think one of the primary reasons for all of these temper tantrum posts such as the one you're replying to, is the seemingly huge overlap between a soon to be released MMO's community, and League of Legends (a game full of self-aggrandizing fans who have somehow managed to delude themselves into thinking a sidegame built from an RTS for people who weren't good at the actual RTS is somehow more skillful than the more complex game that it was derived from, and then basing their entire self worth on the imagined difficulty of their game).
lmao... you know what... you're probably right...
