i'm writing this post just to tell u guys, if u plan to buy gold, just hold it, its not worth it.
it's embarrassing, i ma casual pvp player, farming gold is the last thing i d ever do. i've bought gold for several times, but last Sunday, i ordered 30k from a site, planning to buy a vial of the sands from ah. i thought bliz wouldn't dig small amount transactions, it turns out i m wrong.
Bliz really took my by surprise, this Monday i got an ingame mail from customer service, after i read the email, thx god, it's just warning, they didnt take away the gold as i spent on buying vial of sands, but i m sure they ll suspend or ban me if i do it again, so i ll quit buying gold.
below is Blizzard's email notification.

Subject: World of Warcraft - Notice Regarding Purchased Gold
Greetings,
Account Name: *********(my account, lol)
In light of some recent activity on your World of Warcraft account, we’d like make sure you’re aware of the negative impact that buying gold from third-party companies has on the World of Warcraft community -- as well as the potential consequences for players who are found to be using such services.
Every day, we encounter players who have been victims of in-game scams or whose Battle.net accounts have been stolen, and who log in one day to find their characters’ inventories have been stripped of gold and other valuable items. The overwhelming majority of these scams and thefts are conducted by unethical third-party companies that sell stolen gold to other players for real money. Accounts of players who choose to buy gold and support these exploitive companies may be subject to a variety of account penalties, including the removal of purchased gold so it can be returned to the rightful character.
Third-party gold-selling companies frequently prey upon dedicated players -- often including their own customers -- without regard to the disruption their actions cause to the game and other World of Warcraft players. Ultimately, without players’ support, these companies have no way to continue their unethical actions, and that’s why we encourage the community to refrain from using their services.
Additional information on the negative impact of purchasing gold, as well as some important information on how you can protect your account from theft, can be found on our website at:

Regards,

I hope they change their minds and ban you for good and that will teach you not to dance with the devil in the future. You deserve to be banned IMO and it's folks like you who are making it easy for gold famers to make a fortune. I hope you stay with wow and don't buy any other games soon.

ROFL, if they banned all the people who have bought gold they'd lose about 35-50% of their player base over the years.
BTW, astonished to see 30K is a "small" amount of gold. Geez, when I played getting 100 gold was no small feat and even when I returned for Cata and amassed a good amount of gold I ended up making about 1500 or so in my run from level 1-85.

Sorry man, that actually makes me feel bad. When I played wow back in the day I bought a sh*t ton of gold. Funny thing is that my account never got hacked and I never got caught. I'm not boasting, not at all, quite the contrary, it makes me feel bad that someone like you gets caught while someone like me got away with it. After I got married my wife had me stop buying gold and helped me realize how stupid it was. I found wow to be much more enjoyable after I stopped buying gold; unfortuantely for wow, I quit anyway because I'm waiting to play GW2. Technically my account is still active, but only till the the 29th of this month.
Trust me, Bandit, i've FULLY appreciated the seriousness of my situation, that's y i wrote this post., but ban me? it's really gonna hurt

I used to buy in amounts of 50k. I guess it was people like me who over-inflated the price of items in the AH... sorry!
Even then Bandit, I think you were being a bit harsh. If you read the OP you would see that he has clearly changed his ways. If he was hating on wow for sending him a warning and taking his gold then yes, I would wish that upon him. You've got to give people second chances man! :-)
People who buy gold shouldn't even be playing MMOs. If your excuse is "I don't have time to earn gold" then you don't have time to play the game.
The same goes for paying for a leveling service. It's like paying someone to have sex with your wife just to get that part over with and she can move on to end-game (Cooking and cleaning).
dude, u r GOOD!

LMAO!!
As to buying in-game gold through third-party sellers, I agree, it should not be done. As someone who has done a lot of it (and I mean a lot!) I can say from personal experience that it does in fact ruin the gameplay and it also effects other's experience with the game; since you are inflating the value of items by spending 30k on single armor pieces. My excuse was that I was lazy and didn't care to work for the gold. After I stopped I reazlied how much more fun the game was.
If you are reading this and you are still buying gold, regardless of the game you're playing, you should stop! You're not only ruining the game for yourself but for a lot of other people!
buying gold? -_______-
Why not just beg Bliz to make WoW P2W
the key is to find a reliable website to sell you the gold, and to do the transaction in small amounts with different characters; you'll never get caught that way. yes, it was a bit annoying having to spilt up 50k in 10 different ammounts, but it kept the wow-mods off my back. Having said that though, I strongly encourage anyone who is buying gold to stop and consider how you are effecting others... and I'm glad you stopped buying gold too nichocage-yj
Agreed. Except that my account never got hacked, so I guess I was paying to buy other people's gold :-(
i rly appreciate ur suggestion, but i ll quit buying gold, man, i dont wanna put my account in danger again, i guess, now i m being targeted

The funny thing is earning gold in WoW is one of the easiest things to do. How much of a baddie must you be to not be capable of earning it yourself?
Secondly...what is it you are buying? lol Are you completely incapable of earning your own gear ? Pathetic...
Ha!
If Blizzard banned all the gold farmers and levelling services and people that use them, they would have no players left!

Oh yes! your days of buying gold are over; you can bet your "bottom dollar" that you have been "flagged". Enjoy the game as its supposed to be enjoyed! :-)
yeah, i guess bliz is gonna investigate every single piece of my transaction from now on, so its sort of brilliant to quit buying gold
Occupy SW. Occupy Goldshire. Go!
Buying gold should not be done, however, just because you buy gold it does not mean you are a "baddie", and most people who buy gold can in fact earn their gold; in my case, I was just too lazy to do so. As for earning your own gear in WOW, its more of a grinding excercise than earning anything based on talent. Even if you down a boss, you have no guarantee of getting anything and how many times do the news who ended up dying or doing little to no dps end up with with the gear you worked so hard to get?
That's why I think GW2 has a better solution to that; but that's just my opinion. Either way, people should not be buying gold; they should be playing the game the way it was meant to be played.
Very good point.
They're not going to investigate every single transaction, with 9.1 million users (considering how many buy gold), I would say that you're flagged and that they'll just look into any suspicious transactions you may be involved in.
